The two cubs in the background and nearly grown and will be forced to head out on their own soon. Breeding season is coming in a few weeks and this sow will be reading to breed again this year.

The common dandelion fulfilling it's purpose...

The name appears to be derived from a belief that the dried plants repelled fleas or that the plants were poisonous to fleas.

Sow black bear with cubs

The lough was lovely and calm this morning down at Islandhill.....but the colour was absolute keek!!! Trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear :)

This is not a Dandelion. The Sow Thistle is rather tall, about 3 to 5 feet. This one was growing adjacent to a tree that's in front of a parking lot (making an interesting background, IMHO).

Sow crossing a field. What a beautiful animal and such a pleasure to get to watch her.

is always a red flag that maybe it's time to break off the relationship. Maybe this cub senses his time with mama is limited. I just loved how in this he had his right front foot wrapped around her right hind foot and he was really hugging into her. Sure wish the lighting had been better, but you take what you get sometimes, right?

I've spent many evenings and hours into trying to photograph a badger in good light, It recently finally paid off for me.

This sow is on her back in the sedges with two sizable cubs piled upon her nursing. And she is unconcerned about this photographer. What a blessing.
