is where one is taken while gazing into the eyes of an animal such as this.
This is mama to the 3 littles you have seen so much of here since my last trip in Sept.
When I see her, I wonder if she was brought here to the camp area to fish with her mom when she was little? Chances are very good that she was. Does she maybe remember me?, my scent? Does she realize that I'm of no threat?
I guess I would like to think so but that may be way beyond the realm of reality. But it's a nice thought anyway.
View large and get a deep look into her eyes. See how it makes you feel.
This was cropped a tiny bit. There was a bit of unnecessary
space to the right of the sow. So I just took some off.
She is an extraordinarily beautiful animal.

She and her two cubs were resting in a shaded area behind this dead tree. Before she allowed the cubs to come out, she wanted to make sure it was safe to do so.
BTW, I was on the opposite side of the creek so I was not in any danger,,,,,
A monotone photo of the Glick–Sower House, also known as the Susie Sower House, in Marshalltown, Iowa. The house was built in 1859 for Dr. George Glick, a physician and early founder of Marshalltown. He sold the home to George Sower in 1870 who had started the Marshall Times, now known as the Marshalltown Times Republican. The home was owned by the Sower family until 1952, when Susie Sower willed the estate to the citizens of Marshall County.
The architectural style is Gothic Revival with Italianate trim.

Van Gogh said: " I work as diligently on my canvases as the laborers do in their fields."
The sower in particular was a figure that Van Gogh saw in terms of representing the eternal cycle of agricultural life, of honorable endeavor and tradition, and symbolized these qualities to the artist. The sun was also a symbolic element for Van Gogh, and in many of these paintings, it shines with an unearthly luminescence.
Looking for Salmon, the sun had went behind the clouds creating a pleasing light. She is one of the Oldest sows in the Lake Clark Ecosystem.
This grizzly sow paused to give me eye contact as she climbed over the fallen trees. Another special moment!
Last autumn, I already posted pictures of the boar and the piglet in my photo stream. Today, the wild boar family is completed with a photo of a sow. She is not as massive as the boar, and she doesn't look as grumpy either. Nevertheless, it's probably best not to get too close to her. A wild boar is not a pet.
More photographs of these wild beasts can be found in my boar album
Walking across a gravel beach, a sow polar bear walks away from the photographer. Not sure where she was off to but it was a great way to end a day.
This female Black Bear was on the move with two yearling cubs in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada
This beautiful Grizzly Bear was working her way through a meadow eating dandelions. She had a cub with her and it was raining which didn't seem to bother them at all.
Banff, Albera, Canada
I had just finished photographing birds in the backyard, and went inside to download my photos, when my wife yelled for me to get the camera because there was a black bear raiding the bird feeders.
The bear emptied them both, and after I got a few pictures, I got a long stick and chased her out of the area.
That was my excitement for the day!
The River Sow is a tributary of the River Trent in Staffordshire. Between 1816 and the 1920s, the section between Stafford and Baswich was navigable, and was known as the River Sow Navigation.
The river flows past Shugborough Hall.
......... The clarity and definition in this photo, are not as good as I would like them to be. But I thought some of my Flickr buddies would enjoy seeing it anyway.
I had to do more editing than usual to pull out what light and definition were available. I have a couple more images I may be able to tweak and post in a day or two.
Commentary below for those who like a back story.
This mamma and three cubbies showed up in the barnyard yesterday afternoon just about the same time as a sleet and wind storm. I managed to snap about 12 or 15 shots before the whole hilltop was enveloped in a huge steely gray cloud, accompanied by horizontal rain, sleet and wind gusts that flattened the standing hay and goldenrod stalks.
She came down out of the pinewoods and trotted through the barnyard urging the cubs along at a fairly brisk trot. But she stopped briefly to investigate a pile of apple peels I had tossed on the lawn after making apple butter. If it hadn't been for that little interlude, I don't think I would have managed to get a lens on her. As it was, the first several shots were through the window; Until I realized she was going to nose through the apple peels and I opened the porch door and stepped out..
She never did actually bolt and run ........... she left the cubs nose through the compost pile and then they slipped over the bank and down into the lower woods. ...... About half a minute later the cloud burst hit.
