Since the introduction of the new Optare Metrocities on the TrawsCymru Connect T12 service, there has been a quick ripple of change in general vehicle allocations to duties. One such example is between school turns on the 72 Oswestry to Llanfyllin service seeing more use of Optare Versas, opposed to double decker operation as illustrated with this former WebberBus example.
”Since you went away, the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song,
But I miss you, most of all, my darling,
When autumn leaves start to fall!...”
Since the early 1970s I'd spend as much time as I could on the north shore of Oahu, near the little town of Haleiwa.
Ever since Scout\'s Cousin Rosie arrived at our house, Jago has been missing his little sister, Daisy-Maude, who lives with Mummy June junibears in Norfolk in the United Kingdom.
Mummy June describes Daisy-Maude as, "a sweet and loving little girl bear. who is looking forward to meeting her new Daddy.. I think he\'ll spoil her....Jago will be pleased to see his little sister." Daisy-Maude is made of German mohair with glass eyes and soft floral cotton pads on her paws that match her pretty sunhat, which, when she does get here, she will most likely need to protect her pale English Rose plush.
This is a photo of Jago and Daisy-Maude together in the rose garden in Norfolk. It's an old photo, so it is a little bit faded from the sun and Jago's paws touching Daisy-Maude's face and paws. Don\'t they look happy together? No wonder Jago misses her.
Jago is going to write to Daisy-Maude and ask her to come and stop with us. I do hope that she says yes! It would make Jago so terribly happy! If Daisy-Maude does say yes, then Mummy June can organise her passport and a berth on an ocean liner for her and she can set sail here to us. I know that is a very big voyage for a little bear to make, but somehow I suspect that Daisy-Maude is full of pluck and tenacity.
Jago was a gift from a dear friend in England. He is made of English mohair with suede paw pads and glass eyes. He is a gentle bear, kind and patient who carries an air of calm about him. He is already fitting in with everyone else very nicely.
Since the weather has been slowly improving here, our cats begin to spend more time outside again:-)
Since I'm still recovering and haven't had any cool shoots lately....here's another behind the scenes shot of me & my 50
Since my re-emergence after a long absence, everyone has been so supportive and kind. Just wanted to let everyone know I thank you very much.

Since 2021, I've been finding European mantises in my garden every year, which is a result of global warming. I like European mantises and am happy to have discovered two specimens in my garden and on the house wall: one green and one brownish.
The Eurpean mantis has been present in Saxony-Anhalt since its first sighting in the city Magdeburg in 1991, but the species was initially unable to establish itself there. A breeding population has existed at Geiseltalsee (Lake geriseltalsee) since 2004. Since 2019, the State Office for Environmental Protection has observed a rapid spread of the warm-loving species in Saxony-Anhalt, which is attributed to climate change.
The second freight train from the mine in Tahawus, NY since 1989 crosses the Sacandaga River at Hadley, NY. Symboled SC-5, the train consists of SNC BL-2 #52 (a former Bangor & Aroostook engine) and 10 loads of stone. The train is heading to Corinth where it will pick up 9 additional loads of stone that were previously brought down and bring a total of 19 loads to Saratoga Springs for interchange with Canadian Pacific.
Wright Brothers
1903-The First Flight
Since 1899, Wilbur and Orville Wright had been scientifically experimenting with the concepts of flight. They labored in relative obscurity, while the experiments of Samuel Langley of the Smithsonian were followed in the press and underwritten by the War Department. Yet Langley, as others before him, had failed to achieve powered flight. They relied on brute power to keep their theoretically stable machines aloft, sending along a hapless passenger and hoping for the best. It was the Wrights' genius and vision to see that humans would have to fly their machines, that the problems of flight could not be solved from the ground. In Wilbur's words, "It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill." With over a thousand glides from atop Big Kill Devil Hill, the Wrights made themselves the first true pilots. These flying skills were a crucial component of their invention. Before they ever attempted powered flight, the Wright brothers were masters of the air.
Their glider experiments on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, though frustrating at times, had led them down the path of discovery. Through those experiments, they had solved the problem of sustained lift and more importantly they could now control an aircraft while in flight. The brothers felt they were now ready to truly fly. But first, the Wrights had to power their aircraft. Gasoline engine technology had recently advanced to where its use in airplanes was feasible. Unable to find a suitable lightweight commercial engine, the brothers designed their own. It was cruder and less powerful than Samuel Langley's, but the Wrights understood that relatively little power was needed with efficient lifting surfaces and propellers. Such propellers were not available, however. Scant relevant data could be derived from marine propeller theory. Using their air tunnel data, they designed the first efficient airplane propeller, one of their most original and purely scientific achievements.
Returning to their camp at the Kill Devil Hills, they mounted the engine on the new 40-foot, 605-pound Flyer with double tails and elevators. The engine drove two pusher propellers with chains, one crossed to make the props rotate in opposite directions to counteract a twisting tendency in flight. A balky engine and broken propeller shaft slowed them, until they were finally ready on December 14th. In order to decide who would fly first, the brother tossed a coin. Wilbur won the coin toss, but lost his chance to be the first to fly when he oversteered with the elevator after leaving the launching rail. The flyer, climbed too steeply, stalled, and dove into the sand. The first flight would have to wait on repairs.
December 17, 1903
Three days later, they were ready for the second attempt. The 27-mph wind was harder than they would have liked, since their predicted cruising speed was only 30-35 mph. The headwind would slow their groundspeed to a crawl, but they proceeded anyway. With a sheet, they signaled the volunteers from the nearby lifesaving station that they were about to try again. Now it was Orville's turn.
Remembering Wilbur's experience, he positioned himself and tested the controls. The stick that moved the horizontal elevator controlled climb and descent. The cradle that he swung with his hips warped the wings and swung the vertical tails, which in combination turned the machine. A lever controlled the gas flow and airspeed recorder. The controls were simple and few, but Orville knew it would take all his finesse to handle the new and heavier aircraft.
The first flight
At 10:35, he released the restraining wire. The flyer moved down the rail as Wilbur steadied the wings. Just as Orville left the ground, John Daniels from the lifesaving station snapped the shutter on a preset camera, capturing the historic image of the airborne aircraft with Wilbur running alongside. Again, the flyer was unruly, pitching up and down as Orville overcompensated with the controls. But he kept it aloft until it hit the sand about 120 feet from the rail. Into the 27-mph wind, the groundspeed had been 6.8 mph, for a total airspeed of 34 mph. The brothers took turns flying three more times that day, getting a feel for the controls and increasing their distance with each flight. Wilbur's second flight - the fourth and last of the day – was an impressive 852 feet in 59 seconds.
This was the real thing, transcending the powered hops and glides others had achieved. The Wright machine had flown. But it would not fly again; after the last flight it was caught by a gust of wind, rolled over, and damaged beyond easy repair. With their flying season over, the Wrights sent their father a matter-of-fact telegram reporting the modest numbers behind their epochal achievement.

Since tomorrow is Christmas Eve and the following day will be occupied with things other than Flickr I wanted to put this shot up for my wonderful Flickr friend Barb! Hope this scene ups the temperature in your area a few degrees and makes for a brighter day! Taken on a warm July morning on Armand Bayou near Bay Area Park! I especially liked the textures in the water on this particular day!
Have a Peaceful and Wonderful Christmas celebration!

Gangōj-ji was originally founded as Asuka-dera in Asuka in 593 AD by the powerful court minister Soga no Umako in Asuka, as Asuka-dera. The temple was moved to Nara in 718, where it has been ever since. Gangō-ji is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara.
Since there is no real winter here this year, just wet and windy, I thought I could already start with some spring in a picture. ♥

Since I had the Helios 44-2 and extension tubes (all of them) on the camera for a Macro Monday's shot, I took this photo of a flower.

Almost since the Hawaiian people arrived on the Big Island, they have been fishing off of the cliffs at Kalae (South Point). They carved out holes in the lava to tie off their canoes so they would not be carried away by the strong currents. Later, they begin to use hoists to lower small boats in to the water and ladders to go down the 40 foot cliff to get in to them. A wooden hoist and a metal ladder can be seen in this photo. The cliffs are up 40 feet high above the water but extend another 30 feet below the water line.
Ever since my Mandalorian N-1 I've been hooked on Microfighters. I found some amazing designs by this awesome builder over on Facebook:

Since discovering crochet, Niqui has been making all sorts of Christmas characters. This Tomte (a Scandanavian Christmas gnome) is just one of them
It is approaching two years since I last cross-dressed as a woman and right now the mood to do so is strong. I have it bad! I am desperate to shave my legs, put on my make-up and wear female clothing. I really want to spend a few hours as my female self. It’s not going to happen though. I am hoping I will have an opportunity this year but it is looking like I may have t wait until next year…yikes!
Hopefully, an unexpected opportunity with enough time for me to prep myself and enjoy a nice long period of time as my female alter-ego will present itself. I adore becoming my female self but I need to be patient.
I have been thinking, rather frequently, about my cross-dressing and I am aware that I enjoy trying out a variety of styles. Sometimes I want to be rather glamorous, sometimes I want to be sexy and flirty, other times. Want to wear smart feminine business attire and other occasions I want pass as a real woman in more casual feminine clothing. I just love trying all of these styles. I absolutely love wearing make-up, it boosts my confidence amazing ways. I also love appearing as a woman and enjoy being in character and thrive on those moments I feel I have become a woman. It’s such an enjoyable thing for me to do even though I am a man. I have said it many times but despite being a man, I love being a woman!
This picture is from September 2019. I had an opportunity of several days alone to indulge in my cross-dressing and had a fab time of it!. I was heading to make my evening meal and I was thrilled nd delighted to be in make-up, wig and woman floral shirt, fitted skiing jeans, genitals tucked away and wearing heels. Not quite the full casual woman but partly on the way.
I was joyous I kept snapping away taking selfies to treasure later as a lovely memory of my few hours as a woman. I often find myself creating a backstory for my female alter-ego to give her some kind of substance. That evening I saw myself as a recent divorcee free of her stifling husband and enjoying her time alone to do as she wants. I quite got into this role!
I think it’s important to have a lot of fun expressing one’s female self and did I have fun that September, a lovely time indeed.

Since January 1st 2010, I have been taking and uploading one square picture each day.
Each month I make a 5x5 mosaic, so a few images will be dropped to leave a nice neat 25.
Well it is my Flickerversary, my one year anniversary since I first joined the wonderful Flickr community. Unbelievable that a year has gone by and I have made such great connections with my contacts all over the world. I have to credit my friend Jason Hoover, aka: Surrealize, his link: www.flickr.com/photos/surrealize/ with introducing me to the world of HDR photography! His inspirational work as well as Dave DeCello's HDR work, his link: www.flickr.com/photos/evad310/ Have inspired me to take my photo taking and editing skills to a whole new level! If you have the time, please click on their links and prepare to lose yourself in their photo streams!
About this shot. Finally after four separate trips to Port Townsend, I was able to finally capture an image of Point Wilson Lighthouse. It is located in Fort Worden, where they filmed "An Officer and a Gentleman." I have many photos of this lighthouse from my many trips here, but this past Saturday morning finally afforded me the right conditions for an art worthy print! I was even there Friday night to capture sunset, but it is tough to get a really good shot, and the sky was kind of flat! Just to the right of this image is the Keeper's House and other sheds, but it just did not look right in this shot. So I decided to capture more of Puget Sound. Off in the distance is Mt Baker and Whidbey Island.
Point Wilson is the first lighthouse that was part of a fortified triangle protecting Admiralty inlet, from potential attack on shipping in Puget Sound. Admiralty Head lighthouse: www.flickr.com/photos/fresnatic/3854922221/in/set-7215762... is across the inlet on Whidbey Island and just south of here on the Kitsap Peninsula, is the Point No Point Lighthouse: www.flickr.com/photos/fresnatic/4096680301/in/set-7215762.... These three lighthouses lighted the way for mariners and two of them, Admiralty Head and Point Wilson, were located on forts. Admiralty Head is the only one that is no longer in service, however has a great Marine Interpretive center and has been recently restored.
Here is a link to the first photo I uploaded a year ago: www.flickr.com/photos/fresnatic/3545240642/ Of course it is a lighthouse, what did you expect?
This is three exposures (+2,0,-2) blended and tonemapped in Photomatix, cropped along with some clean up cloning in Photoshop CS5, and a little color adjustments in Topaz Adjust. Also cleaned up a little of the noise with Topaz Denoise.
Thank you to all of my Flickr friends who have shared their comments and their beautiful work! I look forward to see what the coming year on Flickr brings. As always, thank you for the visits, comments and faves!

Since not everyone can get their hand on MODCOMs, some of us have to make them ourselves. : ) AKU-12 on the left, AK-12 with that weird Chinese 3.4 optic on the right.
So, since I joined Flickr, there have been many changes that have taken place over the years. There are pros and cons to the changes that have occurred. One of the pros to the changes is that there is far more traffic/views of my photostream. However, one of the main drawbacks that I see is that Flickr feels a lot less like a social networking website for photographers -- which is really what it was all about in the early stages of its infancy.
I've always enjoyed the feedback of the many photographers that I admire and look up to here on Flickr. Unfortunately, I hardly ever get any constructive criticisms or pointers from these people anymore. Granted, I could always email and message them for advice... But, it didn't used to be that way. In many ways it feels like that "Flickr magic" has diminished if not disappeared altogether. I have grown so much as a photographer simply by seeing others' work and receiving amazing pointers from them on how to accomplish the things I wanted to in photography.
Unfortunately, this incredible resource may not give up-and-coming photographers/artists the same step up that it once gave me. It's too bad really, and I feel bad for them. I guess ignorance is bliss... but just because they don't know that they're missing out on something, doesn't mean that they aren't missing out on something.
If you like my work and wanna show it by inviting me to one of your groups, you are very welcome to do that, but please do not leave any graphic logos! I'll delete them.
