So, since TLG doesnt give a crap about 4 wide windscreens anymore or ever creating 5 wide windscreen elements and vehicles apparently, the only fix was to "build" my own windscreen in allmost all my 1/43 scale models.

Took me years, and a fairly new part, to finally get a nice, spacesaving, connection between transparent window panels and the framework going (i didnt really like the 1x1 lever base option thats been around for quite some time).

Also, when i came across the old grab jaw elements, i always thought of how i could use that grab jaw as a mudguard. Thanks to my recent Porsche Mocs, i did the transition from squarisch bodyframes to round technic elements - so this worked out quite well. Its the only part i know know, that has the correct shaping and "thin-ness" to create really low mudguards for front hood designs.

Colourwise its only possible in all black - not the worst option tbh!

Ever since we first saw that mesmerizing image of the underwater waterfall, visiting Mauritius had been on our travel bucket list. A bit of research revealed that October is one of the best times to go. The weather is warm and pleasant, yet the island has not yet filled up with the Christmas crowds.

The challenge, however, was always the timing. Our trips have to align with the school holidays, and every year during that period, we have had social events where my wife plays an active role, making it impossible to be away. But this year was different. The annual gathering took place earlier in the month and that finally opened the window for our long-awaited Mauritius getaway.

Of course, no trip to Mauritius is complete without exploring its stunning lagoons by boat and what better way to do it than on a traditional pirate ship? These majestic vessels are not only a photographer’s dream but also offer a unique way to experience the island’s beauty. Photography was one of my main motivations for booking the trip though.

Because of the unpredictable weather, I wanted to wait until the last minute to confirm our booking. But that came with its own hiccups. Pirate ships are in high demand, so we had to shuffle a few plans around to make it work. In hindsight, though, it was absolutely worth it.

The colors of the water, the warmth and hospitality of the crew and the sheer beauty of the experience were simply unforgettable.

And here it is, a bird’s-eye view of our pirate ship, anchored in the crystal-clear lagoon where we spent hours snorkelling among live corals and thousands of vibrant fish.

If you want to know a bit more about our visit to Mauritius, you can have a look at the short film where we documented the entire journey.

Since I’ll be away until later next week I thought I’d leave you something to reflect on. It is happening everywhere right now, all over the world. The problem of homelessness for refugees is tragically always with us. Wars and internal conflict lead to millions of displaced and homeless people every year. But there is a growth in homelessness in our relatively wealthy and peaceful cities too, and the results can also be tragic.

Several decades ago it became fashionable in psychiatric circles to close the institutions that once cared for people with severe forms of mental illness. Many of these former patients ended up on the streets. Drugs and alcohol continue to claim many too. You see them now in every large city. Some people even step over the homeless on their way to work, barely stopping to take a sip of their latte. It is awful and as I’ll show in the story of this triptych, people are dying on our streets while the comfortable complain about forgetting to put on their electric blanket. Excuse my cynicism, but truth is always more important to me than being liked. So if the truth hurts, so be it. We need a revolution in our societies at so many levels.

With hyperinflation and interest rates on the rise, real estate values getting out of hand, and people taking their houses off the rental market to turn them into even more lucrative Airbnbs, many ordinary working class people are now sleeping in tents under road overpasses (yes even in Launceston, until the local council moved them on, as they always do without any solution to the problem!), single mothers with children sleeping in cars in a freezing winter. These are people who just a few years ago would never have dreamed of being homeless.

The working poor are now a reality in our once egalitarian societies. And all the time we pay our politicians more to do less at solving our social problems. Oh but they are good at talking! And then the vast majority of the population turns into ostriches and sink their heads into the sand.

By now I’ve probably lost most of my readers. Never mind, I’m more interested in radicalizing the few who will do something. This is not about politics, Marx or Lenin (though I much prefer the message of John Lennon), Left wing or Right. I couldn’t give a damn about ideology or party loyalty. People are dying every single day in countries regardless of their political system. This is about common human decency and whether we as a race care anymore about each other. I mean look at all the empty rhetoric in the West about the poor people of Ukraine being made homeless in their millions - talk, talk, talk, and nothing done about ending the Russian aggression. Never mind as long as Wall Street doesn’t collapse.

Have we been so brainwashed completely by the narcissism that social media was designed to condition us all to, that we just carry on commenting endlessly about meaningless stuff? You may have seen the graffiti that’s been around a while now: “Shut up and shop!” Well that’s what the authorities of any political persuasion want from us right now. They’ll milk us dry of our cash and strip us from our meaningful social bonds. The pandemic taught us to be compliant, but really the process of conditioning started with the events of 9/11 and the new security measures. This has been coming for a long time. But so is the day of reckoning.

So if you’re still wondering about why I’m so angry perhaps one day I’ll show you some of the graffiti that’s spreading through our cities like wildfire. You may also have seen this painted on street walls. Just one word: ANGRY.

The reality is people are dying on our streets. So let me quickly tell you about these three photographs that I’ve tied together.

LEFT: “What’s the upside?”

This notice was hung in a tree by some local activists. The Peter referred to here is the former Premier of Tasmania who boasted about how well the economy had survived the pandemic restrictions. Well it has for the well-heeled, but the housing crisis has led to a large rise in homelessness.

CENTRE “People are dying on the streets.”

Daniel James Tommerup (1970-2021) burned to death when he caught fire cooking food on a gas stove outside Milton Hall across the street from Launceston’s Princes Square. He was part of a growing homeless community that was moved on from the city centre where they were sleeping outside an empty city building. The City Baptist Church allowed them to use the facilities at Milton Hall, but as you’ll see the result after Daniel’s tragic death is that the homeless have been moved on again and a fence has been put up with chain and lock. Given the dire state of the retail rental market there are empty shops all over town, but no room for the poor to lay their heads. What would Jesus say? WWJD?

You can read Daniel’s sad story here.

RIGHT: “Catafalque”

It’s an interesting word “catafalque”. Every Anzac Day in Australia it is mentioned in relation to the tomb of a dead soldier. The dictionary definition is as follows, “a decorated wooden framework supporting the coffin of a distinguished person during a funeral or while lying in state.”

This photograph was taken in Launceston’s City Park in the bandstand. In it is a bed for the homeless. But not a real bed (because that would have been moved on very quickly by the authorities), no it’s an art installation. The artist has designed it to reflect on the issue of the homeless, but if a real homeless person dared to lie down there it would be a problem.

This is a catafalque for the homeless, but it might, if what Peter Kingsley says is true, be a catafalque for us all. I mention Peter Kingsley in relation to his two volume work, “Catafalque: Carl Jung and the End of Humanity”, which surveys the wreck of Western civilization. Peter spares none of us in his social critique, and he would agree with me that a day of reckoning is at hand. peterkingsley.org/product/catafalque/

Have you ever read Matthew 25:31-46 in the New Testament? You might be surprised by its implications.

Since our Fall is later than most...I've only begun to bore you stiff with color, lol!

Ever since I saw the first pictures of Lego 76012 Batman: "The Riddler Chase", it seemed to me that the balance of "powers" in this set is a little bit unfair. I mean yeah, The Riddler is a sneaky one, but escaping both Batman AND Flash... So I thought it would be only fair to get him a little help.

I still like Christo's Flash a whole lot better than the official one, because it simply feels like a FINISHED product. Yellow boots for Flash, little white wings on Cap's head sides... in my humble opinion these things are "a Must" – yet they are absent on the officially licensed products of some worldwide known comic characters, while all at the same time, minifigs from the Collectable series are printed head to toes...

But wait... what's there, lurking in the shadows?

Since my next Marchikoma build might take a while, here's a miniature Tachikoma to tide everyone over. If you want to build your own, check out the instructions here.

Ever since I visited the incredibly awesome ghost town of Kolmanskop in the Namibian desert, I've been pretty interested in exploring other ghost towns. Bodie is supposed to be the best one in California, and as for Nevada, Rhyolite is apparently right on up there. I don't think it'll be possible to find anything as impressive as Kolmanskop in the western world, but that's not going to stop me from looking.

Since ancient years when it was still called Black Snake, one of the oldest interracial clubs in Second Life, now known as The Snake, will close on 1 August (2016). We were open for more than 6 years.

I feel sad because many nice things have happened in this place, I met many nice people and have made many many naughty and fun things.

I thank everyone who ever helped keep the place open, they are many and I will not remember all. All the dancers, Managers, Securities, Landlords, Customers and Friends.

But unfortunately due to lack of sponsorship and unfair competition for customers and good staff, we are forced to close our doors.

The club was never a place to earn Lindens, it was a place to Roleplay and to have fun, never forcing anyone to work harder than to have fun, and so is the end of a beautiful dream.

Thank you all and see you around.

With love

Kemi

Since this photograph in Prince Edward Island was taken in 2018, the sands have shifted and it is now possible to continue walking down the beach, past the old pilings and on by the sand hills to where nature has eroded a new entrance to Winter Bay. You can actually return on the Winter Bay side of the sand hills. It's a beautiful 2 hour walk.

Since you all seem to enjoy my sunset/rise photos, here's one more: the king of them all. It's amazing what you can find tucked away in a large file. I am quite pleased with the colors in this one.

Since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine my village has had the Ukrainian flag flying in support of Ukraine. Over time the weather battered the flag and the colours became faded. The Ukrainian flag has now been replaced by a new one flying high in my village.

Since the pandemic I've been working from home. In the last month I've been working one day a week in an office, not too far from home. It really breaks the week up, and has helped me feel a bit more connected to the world again.

The other good thing is that there's a big charity shop close by, so ideal for some lunchtime browsing!

Happy New Year to all! I know.. It's been so long since I post any landscape shots, almost 2 years I think. Actually 2017 was a very important year to me and my family. We are having a baby! Yeah it's been a crazily busy life since my wife was pregnant. But in the past year I did have chance to keep sometime for my precious hobby, go around the places and witness some amazing sceneries, thanks so much to the support from my family. Here I am putting up a shot from Carrizo Plain last April, where there was a fantastic flower season. Guess I am back to business now. :P And there are more to come. Thanks for watching!

Since 2009, Boulevard Paris 13 has offered Parisians and tourists a tour of frescoes by French and international artists. This is a sort of open-air museum offering a place of expression to urban artists. There are over fifty urban works to discover,

I've done the rubberbands before, but I just couldn't help myself...finding inspiration in this track wasn't difficult, considering it has Jay-Z, Dj Kool, Ice Cube, Eminem, etc....but when I heard the name of the song by The Spinners, I just had to do this.

And for the record, the best rubberband shot ever is still right here....

Bafureira beach, Cascais. Portugal

..............................................

Since the Middle Ages, Cascais lived from fishing, maritime commerce (it was a stop for ships sailing to Lisbon), and from agriculture, producing wine, olive oil, cereals, and fruits. Due to its location close to the Tagus estuary, it was also seen as a strategic post in the defence of Lisbon. Around 1488, King John II built a small fortress in the village, located by the sea. This medieval fortress was not enough to repel the invasion and in 1580, Spanish troops led by the Duque of Alba took the village during the conflict that led to the union of the Portuguese and Spanish crowns. The fortress was enlarged towards the end of the 16th century by King Philip I (Philip II of Spain), turning it into a typical renaissance citadel with the characteristic flat profile and star-shaped floorplan. Various fortresses were built on the coast around Cascais during the 17th century, and many of them still exist.

In 1755, the great Lisbon earthquake destroyed a large portion of the village. Around 1774, the Marquis of Pombal, prime-minister of King José I, took protective measures for the commercialisation of the wine of Carcavelos and established the Royal Factory of Wool in the village, which existed until the early 19th century. During the invasion of Portugal by Napoleonic troops in 1807, the citadel of Cascais was occupied by the French, with General Junot staying some time in the village.

This situation of decadence started to change when King Luís II decided to turn the citadel of Cascais into his summer residence. From 1870 to 1908, the Royal Family came to Cascais to enjoy the sea, turning the somnolent fishing village into a cosmopolitan address. The citadel gained electric light in 1878, the first in the country, thanks to King Luís. The village gained better roads to Lisbon and Sintra, a casino, a bullfight ring, a sport club, and improvements in the basic infrastructure for the population. The railway arrived in 1889. Many noble families built beautiful mansions in Cascais, as can still be seen in the centre and surroundings of the town.

Today, there is a large yacht harbour and several small sand beaches in and around town such as Carcavelos Beach, Parede Beach, S. João and S. Pedro de Estoril beaches, BAFUREIRA BEACH, Estoril Beach, Many small others, Queen Beach in Cascais, Cascais beach (with a fisher port) Cresmina Beach, Guincho Beach... Cascais is easily reached from Lisbon by car, (A5 Lisboa-Cascais highway), or by frequent inexpensive commuter trains. It has the ruins of a castle, an art and sea museum, as well as parks and the charming cobbled streets of the historic centre. The town has many hotels and tourist apartments as well as many good restaurants of varying cost. It is a fine base to use for those visiting Lisbon and its environs who prefer to stay outside of the city yet in an equally urban and sophisticated environment.

Cascais is surrounded by popular beaches, such as Guincho Beach to the west, and the lush Sintra mountains to the north. Some of its shoreline is cliff-y, attracting tourists for its seascapes and other natural sights such as the Boca do Inferno. It is also becoming a popular golf destination, with over 10 golf courses nearby. Surfing, sailing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing are also popular in the region around Cascais due to favourable weather, wind, and sea conditions. In 2007, Cascais was the official host of the ISAF World Championship in sailing for dinghies and racing yachts.

Since folks on Reddit are asking, the geode piece is my interpretation of GLaDOS as a potato.

Since I was in Manhattan I decided to stop at the Grand Central Terminal Market to purchase the three red snappers needed to make the Tajine of Red Snapper in Zakia Arrachidi-Thom's book, "Simply Moroccan Cuisine."

As soon as I opened the market door there they were, fat and red and cleared eyed wild red snapper @ $14.99 per pound. You just had to look at those fish to see that there was lots of meat on them. I placed my order for three out of the five fish on display!

Now, since I was serving this meal to my elderly parents I requested that the fish be filleted with the skin left on. No problem the counterman told me. He weighed my fish then took them to a back counter to be filleted.

Fifteen minutes later I was told they were still being worked on. In the meantime another counterman puts a new red snapper on the pile and takes over the job of finishing my order.

Finally they handed me my bundle, I paid, and headed home to create this wonderful dish. However, when I got home there were only 4 fillets..... What happened to my other fish? What I believed happend is that the counterman charged me for three snappers then, right in front of me, put one back in the display case!

That.......!!!!!!!

Very thin negative. Since I got data in the shadows (EI12) - I assume I need more development - but also want to try EI6. F/22. - The Zomei 760 leaves a small spectrum to record - so that might be it. Many uses 720nm filter.

Since I gotten Operetta, it was time for her to clash in some photos that I usually take with my Monster High dolls. And starting here is the Picture Day look-a-like dollies :P

I also do apologize on how Operetta & Frankie looks, doesn't suit them but it was close to what I saw on the real PD dolls :P

“Posh, it is lots of sleeps, plus a few more, since I had my last birthday. I was thinking it must be my birthday soon… like today.” Said Sky looking at a selection of the birthday cards the bears kept.

“Mine must be sooner, my last birthday was so long ago I can’t remember it.” Said Bertie.

“You both have a little while to go yet. I think first it is your birthday, Bertie, and then just after it will be, Sky, to have his birthday.” Said Posh Bear.

“Are you saying that Bertie had his birthday yesterday then, Posh? If that is the case then it is my birthday today. Happy birthday to me.” Said Sky looking around him.

“No, Sky, it is not your birthday just yet. We have another birthday to celebrate first.” Explained Posh Bear.

“I do hope it isn’t Wellington’s birthday or we will have a party and Wellington will go on and on about all the battles he did not fight and how clever he was to avoid them. I don’t mind a few but according to Wellington there is at least several evenings worth to tell everyone about.” Said Sky.

“Well, it isn’t Wellington’s birthday yet either.” Said Posh Bear.

“I don’t feel as if it can be the birthday of Harrod, I am sure it was much warmer when he arrived.” Said Bertie.

“That is right, Bertie, long sunny days. I remember saying it was not fair as his birthday was much longer than mine.” Said Sky “Mine was dark for much of it.”

“It can’t be Barnaby, as he has only just arrived.” Said Bertie shaking his head and thinking hard.

“Is it your birthday Posh, or are you so old now you don’t have them any longer?” Asked Sky.

“No, Sky, it is not my birthday. Sky, it does not matter how old one becomes, it is still nice to have a birthday. I will give you good warning of my birthday so you can order extra honey.” Said Posh.

“I see, so it is not any bears birthday then?” said Bertie sadly.

“Not today, Bertie, but just two more sleeps and it will be Barnaby’s birthday. If you have an order placed, Sky, you will need to add more of everything as we will have a party.”

“I already have done, Posh, Ellie told me there was a party coming very soon. I even remembered to order more fish for Icecap. It is due this afternoon; but the man will be here so we need to catch the delivery hooman at the front door before the man hears them knocking.”

“Well done, Sky, I have now told every bear about the party except Barnaby, as I would like that to be a lovely surprise for him. He likes surprises.” Explained Posh Bear.

“Where is Barnaby? I was wondering that earlier.” Asked Bertie.

“He went out with the man on his two wheeled thingy in the back carrier, I think he said something about brushing his fur straight again as it became blown about outside.” Said Sky smiling.

“Good, but remember Sky, you must not tell Barnaby about his birthday party.” Said Posh Bear.

“Don’t worry, Posh, I am good at keeping secrets.”

Moments later Barnaby came to join the group and sat down on the blanket.

“Hiya everyone, I have been out with the man and I noticed there are a lot of pretties in flower and even some buzzy things. I like this time when the buzzy things come back from their sleep, the pretty garden things are in flower and I have my birthday party. It is so exciting I can’t wait.”

“How do you know about the birthday party, Barnaby?” Asked Sky.

“What birthday party, Sky?”

“The party you just said you were excited about.” Said Bertie.

“Well, I have one about this time as I said, so I thought I would put an order in for extra everything, especially fish for Icecap, so we could have a big party.”

“You added to the order, you say, Barnaby?” Asked Posh.

“Yes, Posh, it was funny because after I had done it, I spoke with Icecap and he had also ordered lots of extra fish and extra honey for Sky and me and all the other bears. He is such a thoughtful friend.”

“I think we may have over ordered then Posh.” Said Sky.

“That is not a problem, Sky, Ellie says we can always stash yummies in the ellicopter if we run out of room here. I will have a word when she wakes up next.” Said Barnaby.

“Thank you, Barnaby. We will have to see what comes and how much we can hide away and then how much we use at the not too secret birthday party.” Said Posh Bear.
