This is the oldest Wesleyan Chapel that has been in continuous use since being built. Wesley preached here and it is a remarkable example of Non conformist architecture. He recommended the octagonal shape to avoid conflict with the established church. The chapel was later expanded so becoming an elongated octagon. On the right is the Church Hall built about 100 years after the Chapel.
Since the beginning of this week and going under the weather it seems, I have not felt too well and now I have gone down with bad flu. Which has knocked me for six and this is the first one like this I have not had for some time now.
Still, I am only human and we can't escape these bugs and virus germs all the time!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and hopefully a healthy one too!
And Many thanks and Cheers for your comments and compliments from you here, my good flickr friends !!!
Since my Fence Friday image was from England, I thought I would post a few more from our September trip. I like this contrast of old and new with Tower Bridge and the Shard, designed by Renzo Piano.
Hope everyone has a happy weekend. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments.

Since it appears BNSF is finally getting around to installing the new signal equipment that's been lying on the ground for over a year in various locations along the Transcon in Illinois, Toluca deserves another look as one place with a great collection of legacy signals. On a warm Summer day in July, a Willow Springs-to-Alliance Z-train pounds the crossovers once again, part of the seemingly endless parade of trains that pass through here every day.

Since a lot of you have said that you have not seen a nilgai before I thought I would post an older picture of a male Nilgai (also known as the blue bull) that I took a while back! The males seem to be more shy than the females! This photo was taken in Ranthambhore National Park in India!
Since many years I wanted to take a few pictures of the Taj Mahal from the other side of the Yamuna river and a few days ago I could at last do it while I was going by car from Delhi to Lucknow.
Rabindranath Tagore once said that this wonder of the world was "A tear drop in the face of eternity", these words allow me to fly away with the birds and to open a new ethereal dream, under a mysterious moonlight...

Since i saw this Chevy Nomad a few weeks ago, i planned on taking pictures of it. Tonight was the night and i got a nice set of pictures together. This particular picture was the last of the series - and i like it, even though the story behind it is kinda scary.
That car is parked in a not-so-nice part of the town. Not the worst part though, but not a better part either. After taking pictures for the last 30 minutes, i seemed to draw some attention. Suddenly i had 3 gangbangers with their hoodies pulled way into their faces standing next to me. When they started complimenting my camera ("That's a nice camera you got there, i bet it was expensive'), i decided that it is time for me to leave. I quickly grabbed my trypod and camera during the exposure, put everything into my car and left. The result ended up pretty nice. Stupid thugs though.
Oh, i almost forgot: Purple gelled strobe. The lines above the car are the street lights. When i took the camera, it captured the street lights on accident and it just happen to paint those lines just above the car. :)
It's been a while since I played with mitered boxes, and I had never made one with splined miters before, so I thought a small one made from a chunk of walnut would be an appropriate project to practice on.
The sides and bottom were cut from a single piece of reclaimed black walnut. I arranged the sides so the wood grain would look continuous all the way around. The small spline details were cut from poplar for contrast.
I poked around the dark recesses of my workshop for a long while before stumbling across this piece of smoky looking walnut I used for the removable lid. The edges and corners were rounded over extensively to soften its appearance, for a pillow-like effect.
Once complete, the box was sealed with a clear epoxy finish. It'll hold about 30 bags of tea, or whatever you think it ought to hold.

With it now 5 months since lockdown restrictions were implemented due to COVID-19, airlines are very slowly starting to see demand returning although this maybe scuppered in part due to spikes in cases being reported.
For Finnair, the carrier was supposed to be operating 7 daily or 49 weekly flights for the S20 schedule with 2 wide-body (one Airbus A350-900 in the morning and one Airbus A330-300 in the evening) and 5 narrow-body flights providing the work. That hasn't happened as capacity has significantly dropped with only 15 weekly flights being provided with Airbus A321s being utilised.
Prior to this, Airbus A330-300s became a common sight at London Heathrow following the W18 schedule whereby between 19th November 2018 to 23rd November 2018, Airbus A330-300s replaced Airbus A350-900s on Monday and Friday, and later from 30th November 2018 until 15th March 2019, Airbus A330-300s operated on Fridays only with Airbus A350-900s operating for the rest of the week on AY1331/1332.
For the S19 schedule, Airbus A330-300s got their own dedicated flight from 31st March 2019 when AY1337/1338 was converted from Airbus A320 family aircraft whilst AY1331/1332 retained Airbus A350-900s on all days although Airbus A330-300s would often substitute.
Now, Finnair is only providing a skeleton service between London Heathrow and Helsinki with only 15 weekly flights provided by Airbus A320 family aircraft, mainly Airbus A321s. The vast majority of their Airbus A330-300s are currently in storage at Helsinki whilst their Airbus A350-900s see work providing cargo and limited commercial flights on long-haul sectors.
Currently, Finnair have 8 Airbus A330s, all of which are Airbus A330-300s. So far, 7 out of 8 Airbus A330-300s are currently in short-term storage.
Lima Tango November is one of 8 Airbus A330-300s currently in Finnair fleet, delivered new to the flag-carrier on 24th April 2009, later leased from Novus Aviation Capital between March 2014 until March 2019 where her lease transferred from DVB Bank and she is powered by 2 General Electric CF6-80E1A4 engines. She has not operated a commercial flight since 11th March 2020 and is currently in storage at Helsinki-Vantaa.

Ever since its grand opening City Center has become the centerpiece of downtown West Palm Beach. The City Center complex includes the City Hall (150,000 GSF, including the City’s Commission Chambers), the Mandel Public Library (85,000 GSF, including a 150-seat auditorium, children’s library, and teen library), the Palm Beach Photographic Centre and Museum (35,000 GSF) and a parking garage for 300 cars with charging stations for electric vehicles.
Song + Associates originally conducted a space-needs study in 1997 to program the future functions of City Center as part of Phase I for the project. Once funding was established years later, Song + Associates validated the study by providing necessary program modifications to reflect the city’s growth and reorganization. We also developed new programs for those departments that were not part of the original study. This phase of the project consisted of weekly meetings with the library staff, Photographic Centre staff, and each of the 22 departments within City Hall in order to understand the workflow, workspaces, support spaces, and department adjacencies. After the programming and master planning was completed then came the design to create a civic connection space for the public all in one convenient location.

Since Riley can't go for walks because of his recent surgery, my husband put him in this old baby stroller and took him for a ride around the neighborhood.
Since I'm bereft of musical knowledge I have no concept of what an 'adjusto-matic' bridge might be. Same goes for hydromatic ( see Grease, the Musical). However, I can draw a treble clef, forwards and backwards as well as simultaneously with both hands...one can get extremely bored when working 12 hour night shifts. 😃
Since today marks the 55th anniversary of the Burlington Northern merger, I figured today would be the perfect day to post today's find. BN 12395, a cupola caboose built in April 1981, sits at BNSF Saint Joseph Yard on a nice March afternoon. Being that this yard was once served by the BN, and before that the CB&Q, seeing this almost completely untouched caboose still wearing cascade green felt like I was stepping back in time. A true time capsule and reminder of better days being trackside.

Since cutting ropes can be expensive, not to mention dangerous, for most pick-off training we set up a system to take the load off of the "victim's" ropes in a controlled manner and untie him after attaching him to our ropes.
Knives and ropes don't mix well.
I'm tying a french prussik knot to set up a pulley above him.
