On my last night in Iceland we passed by this foggy scene near the Kerid Crater, on the way back to Reykjavik. I took this shot from the moving RV at sunset time.
I processed a balanced and a realistic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

After going to a meeting in San Francisco I went to the Sutro Heights Park near the Cliff House. This is the view to the south with the brightly lit Great Highway, taken in the blue hour 30 minutes after sunset.
I processed a paintery and a balanced HDR photo from a long exposure RAW image, and selectively blended them to get this mystical look. I used an ND8 filter to prolong the exposure time.

From my hometown in the Swiss Alps I went across the border to Austria to replace the battery of my MacBook Pro. After dinner I walked around the historical district of Feldkirch, and went up to the Schattenburg, the castle that is towering over the city. The restaurant in the castle remains open until 10pm, which gave me an opportunity to look for photogenic scenes.
I processed a realistic, and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive feedback.

This is the view of the Golden Gate bridge from near the Battery Spencer lookout. In the foreground you see ruins of an abandoned military post. The sun was low, about to settle down, giving a nice light on the bridge painted in international orange - the Golden Gate in golden hour. You can see downtown San Francisco on the left. A ship started its journey. I am not sure why ships are addressed as "she" and not "he" or "it".
I processed two RAW images into a balanced HDR photo - the colors are pretty accurate.

Today we went to Zion National Park in Utah. It is a relatively narrow canyon, enclosed by nice red mountains. We spent some time in the water. My son was skipping small stones.
With an ND filter, low ISO, and f16 aperture I got the exposure up to 1/6 sec, enough to make the water appear to flow. I processed a balanced HDR photo from this RAW exposure.

Two "elders" of the Boulder Valley--an old, graceful Cottonwood tree and Haystack Mountain.
Viewed from other angles, Haystack mountain is dwarfed by the Rocky Mountain foothills that loom up behind it to the west. So it is not obvious and it can be a little difficult to spot. From this angle, however, it stands out nicely and is beautifully symmetrical. I was tempted to include "Haystack-san" in the title as a reference to beautiful Mount Fuji, often called "Fuji-san" by the Japanese.
In the 1850s, it was beneath Haystack Mountain that the Arapahoe Indians, led by Chief Niwot, set up their winter camp. Legend has it that Chief Niwot was buried at the top of Haystack, the mountain he so loved.
I came upon this beautiful blue hour scene quite unexpectedly, when I was teaching my nephew how to drive a manual transmission car on the extensive dirt roads north of Boulder.

We walked around downtown Milano, the capital of the Lombardy region of Italy. It has many nuggets. People dress well, there are many upscale stores, and many historical buildings. Of course there are plenty of tourists as well around the Duomo, the big cathedral. The cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. I took this street shot of an outdoor restaurant with a view over the Duomo.

The election circus will be over soon, one more day to go. I am looking forward to a fresh start with inclusiveness.

We went to the Death Valley. On the way back we witnessed the sunset near Mojave, California.

On Monday I gave a one-on-one photo class at the roof of a San Francisco skyscraper. From the 29th floor of the 100 Van Ness building you get a nice view over downtown. It was not the best light in the middle of the day, but the texture of the downtown buildings look nice.

Via Basilica, Otranto (LE), Salento, Puglia, Italia
The "Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata" is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the Italian city of Otranto, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. The cathedral was consecrated in 1088.
It is 54 metres long by 25 metres wide and is built on 42 monolithic granite and marble columns from unknown quarries.
The bell tower next to the cathedral was also built in the 12th century. It is square in plan, with four round-arched windows. Its exterior decoration recalls the military architecture of the city's walls and towers.
