A nice line up former Victorian Railways EMD power at the recent 'Streamliners 22' event at Goulburn, New South Wales on 1 October 2022.

 

All are maintained in operational condition by the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre in Victoria.

Ich hatte in der vergangenen Woche ein kurzes aber tolles Date mit einem Mercedes Benz S 580e. Natürlich hatte ich wieder keine Zeit .. wie immer .. aber einige wenige Fotos mussten sein. Der Preis für diesen Wagen lag bei 204.000 € .. 😎👍

 

Last week I had a short but great date with a Mercedes Benz S 580e. Of course I didn't have time again... as always... but a few photos had to be taken. The price for this car was €204,000... 😎👍

S303 on hire to SSR leads GM10 on AK81, AK cars as they approach Mt. Barker Jct on 1st December 2022.

Former Victorian Railways S class S303 takes a spin on the turntable at the Goulburn Roundhouse, New South Wales, during the recent Streamliners 22 event held there.

 

S303 was built by Clyde Engineering in 1957 and is now preserved in operational condition by the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre.

EMD-powered S311 was built by Clyde Engineering for the Victorian Railways in 1960. It remains in service with private operator Southern Shorthaul Railroad though as of Feb 2025 sees little regular use.

Former Victorian Railways Clyde/EMD locos B65 and S302 line up at Streamliners 2016, held at the Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre, New South Wales on 1 October 2016..

 

Built for the VR in 1952 and 1957 respectively, ownership of both post-privatisation eventually passed to Southern Shorthaul Railroad. Unfortunately, as the result of major engine failures and other issues, both were scrapped in June 2025.

4204, GM10 and S317 cross an up local passenger train at Ourimbah. Recently, 4-car OSCAR trains have taken over local passenger trains between Wyong and Sydney.

 

Venerable GM 42 Class unit 4204, owned an operated by The Lachlan Valley Railway was relaunched into service after overhaul on February 13, 2010 with a tour to Dungog and back. 4204 was accompanied by similar veteran units S317 and GM10, both on loan from Southern Shorthaul Railroad. GM10, recently purchased by SSR from CFCLA is the oldest diesel locomotive still in commercial operation in Australia.

Having cleared the specticle of the street running down the centre of town, Southern Shorthaul Railroads 9197 empty Allied road gauge grain acclerates past the GEB silo at Wycheproof with S317, T363, P16 and S312 at the helm. The train was enroute to Nullawil for loading

T386, T381 and S317 power towards Murchison East with 9383 empty SSR grain train.

S317 is racing a storm south to Telarah with the consist from the "4204 Relaunch Trip". The summer storm that enveloped the area brought fierce rain with thunder and lighting, but passed quickly.

Streamliners 2022 held at the Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre saw a range of Clyde EMD and Australian Streamlined locomotives brought together to showcase Australia’s older and more rarer diesel locomotives. 4464, 961, 42105, 4201, 4204, S311, GM19, GM10, S303, P22 & T357 are all seen in shot showing off there different liveries, sounds and horns

Southern Shorthaul Railroads' S302/S317 head train #9197 empty grain from Kensington Grain Siding (Melbourne) to Sea Lake up the final grade into Sea Lake on 17 April 2018.

 

EMD-powered S302 is 61 years old this year, having been built by Clyde Engineering for the Victorian Railway in 1957.

On Friday 2/12/2016, 4578s is seen leaving the closed & soon to be demolished Port Augusta (Northern) power station with B61-S317-GM27-GM10-S302 in charge. This was the second of the two movements with SSR hauling ex Leigh Creek coal wagons to NSW.

 

Having seen a variety of locomotives arrive & depart this location over a period of 50 plus years ranging from the GM class to the more recent 82 class & V544, this was the first ever visit of a B class diesel locomotive.
