We've decided to have a slightly premature valentines break to Durham, a city I've not explored before.
I've also been wanting to do route 7 (Darlington-Durham) for a while so was able to tick that box today too.
The route is mixed E400 and VDL saloon but we were lucky walking straight into 7540 at Darlington for the first leg to Newton Aycliffe, where it's seen after a fast journey.
Just let down by a filthy interior and Maria wasn't impressed with the non working plug sockets. 8/2/17.
You can see seemingly forever into Sapphire Pool in Yellowstone National Park's Biscuit Basin. The pool, with temperatures over 200 F, is named for its crystal-clear water and for its resemblance to an Oriental sapphire. The pool changed dramatically after the 1959 earthquake and erupted up to 150 feet, but stopped by 1968.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul_Sapphire:
Istanbul Sapphire, or Sapphire, is a skyscraper, and as of 2011, the tallest building in Istanbul and Turkey, located in the central business district of Levent. It will relegate to the second spot upon the completion of the Diamond of Istanbul triple towers, located in the nearby central business district of Maslak. It is the country's first ecological skyscraper. Sapphire rises 54 floors above ground level, and boasts an above-ground roof height of 238 meters (the building has an overall structural height of 261 meters including its spire, which is part of the design and not a radio antenna.) It is a shopping and luxury residence mixed-use project by Biskon Construction (a subsidiary of the Kiler Group of Companies.)
It is strategically located close to the TEM and O1 main road arteries and to the Bosphorus and F.S.M. bridges. The building has a direct access to the 4. Levent subway station from its 3rd basement floor, and is situated on Büyükdere Avenue, one of Istanbul's main thoroughways, in the middle of the city's central Beşiktaş and Şişli districts, and in close proximity to the quarter of Etiler.
Istanbul Sapphire has been designed by Tabanlıoğlu Architecture as a high-tech structure that consists of 64 floors (54 above-ground and 10 basement floors), communal living floors, extensive parking spaces, a large shopping mall, and 47 floors for residences.
There will be specialized floors which have private gardens between every 3 floors, and every 9 floors are separated from each other by a communal living area or mechanical floors. Design of the gardens are proposed with a number of alternatives and the consistency of garden maintenance is under the residence management company’s responsibility.
Sapphire is the first ecological building of Turkey, having two special glass shells which can take the outside air naturally by holes located at every 3 floors. Thanks to this system, the inhabitants of the building will not be affected by the negative weather conditions and external urban noise, in addition to providing a buffer with the outside atmosphere and the internal facilities. Absorption of the sunlight and ultraviolet beams will be ensured by a special curtain system that's automatically controlled through a computer, depending on the season, day and hour.
Sapphire (Columbia). 1.54ct, 5.85x6.65x4.33mm. Custom Cushion Brilliant (Sap764)
I didn't realize Columbia produced sapphire until I stumbled on a small rough at Tuscon this year.
The amazing Nodeform has promised to make something incredible with this one...
Parti-colored Sapphire 1.43ct., 7.26x7.28x4.56mm. Modified Round Brilliant (Sap562)
Very unusual color sapphire from Umba, TZ. This stone looked near-colorless with hints of violet in the rough. However, on cutting, the slightly beige/orangish and violet colors inherent in the stone became obvious. I don't believe I could make a match for this stone if I wanted to.

The Sapphire Princess seen in the Gastineau Channel on her way to Juneau, Alaska. This was her last 2013 visit. The Crown Princess is expected to take over her Alaska routes next year.
Keith Weesner is by far one of the coolest artists out there. Just can't get enough of his art. Please check it out sometime.
Sapphire was feeling a bit put out as Reg, the miniature schnauzer, had been visiting.
Sharon picked Sapphire up, and I just quickly snapped this, spontaneous, un-posed photo of them.
Oh yeah, and cats are another animal I'm sadly (very) allergic to!
