This is a photograph from the annual The Downs Valentines 5KM and 10KM Dash Road Races and Fun Runs which were held in The Downs, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Sunday 14th February 2016 at 12:00. The races were held as fundraisers for The Downs National School Development Project. The race HQ is The Downs GAA club which is right beside the National School. The Downs is situated half way between Mullingar and Kinnegad on the M4 Motorway with easy access provided by the junction at Thomas Flynn's Ltd (www.google.ie/maps/@53.501005,-7.2357645,17.75z). There was great local support at the race with over 350 participants with runners, joggers, walkers and families taking part. The weather was in contrast to the foggy bitterly cold day of last year - there was pleasant bright spring sunshine with little breeze making it perfect conditions for running.
This photograph is part of a large set of photographs which was taken at the race. The complete set is available on our Flickr page at [https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157664477326592]
Timing and Event Management was provided by the new Irish company MyRunResults.com. The results from today's race can be found on their website in the results section [www.myrunresults.com/results.html]

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

... because this is what I have to wear to protect my lungs from the cold when I'm out for a run. I was out in the snow today, and I'm happy to report that while I only saw two other runners the whole time (as opposed to the usual 30+), they were both women. That either means women are crazy, or women are dedicated. Either way, I'm happy to be one of the few who was braving the slippery conditions.
This is the first clone that I have done before. I am running around in my yard and my neighbors. The driveway behind me is my neighbors.
Running around the Plaza de Armas with the local cuzqueños. If you're ever in Cusco, spend a full morning or afternoon really soaking in the vibe of the plaza. It's bursting with life, and it's not just a tourist gathering place -- you'll just as easily find locals relaxing on benches reading the paper or jostling to their next destination in town.

Thank's to banlon1964 for this translation in english :)
"An area of the Rue Ordener in Paris has become a true museum of contemporary art.
Every day, new graffiti appears. Most importantly, the artists have created something few arists, even (and especially) those in the artists "squats", dare to do : free, ephemeral art."
I found this old fuel station in the outback East of Narrogin Western Australia ...
It doesn't pump fuel any more and I am not sure if it even trades???
I just loved those clouds!!!
After cutting off from the train, 4449 moves through the switches for some servicing at Amtrak's Chicago shops.
Well after a week in Scotland its strange how I decide that the firs photo i upload from my trip is a one taken in Northumberland on the way back!
I had to make a detour to the Lilburn Estate near Wooler, Northumberland to carry out a favour for my hosts in Scotland and I am glad I did as this little fella let me take a few photos of him before he ran off.
I had a word with the gamekeeper on the Estate and now i have another great contact for wildlife photography. Cant wait until next March when I will get to photograph the Hares boxing! Fantastic!
Lately I've been running on faithWhat else can a poor boy do?
But my world will be right When love comes over you
Lately I've been talking in my sleep can't imagine what I'd have to say
Except my world will be right When love comes back your way
I've always been one to take each and every day
Seems like by now I'd find a love who cares just for me
Amtrak 91 is seen running in great light some 13 hours late due to the snow storms up north. Here, we see the train running under I-26 in Dixiana. I would have rather shot this train either from Cayce Riverwalk, but it was closed due to all the rain lately. Another location would have been off of the 12th Street Bridge in Cayce, but that's a tricky place to shoot from without drawing attention from Cayce's finest.

This is a photograph from the first running of the Kilbeggan 10 Mile Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Sunday August 4th 2013 at 12:00. The race was organised by Michael Murphy from Tullamore Harriers who is also race director of the Athlone Flatline Half Marathon. All proceeds from the race went to the Niall Mellon Township Trust Charity.
All credit must go to Michael Murphy and his team for the staging of a very professionally organised road race. There were two waterstops, very good marshalling, accurate course measurement, and refreshments afterwards. This race has great potential to become a compliment and lead-up race to the Athlone Flatline Half Marathon and prepare runners for the Dublin Marathon.
This photograph is part of a set of photographs from the 2013 race which are viewable in a set at [http://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157634929473558/]

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 150 participants
Weather: This was a beautiful warm sunny summer's day. It was a little warm for road racing particularly with the midday sun directly over-head. There was some headwind at the begining of the race but this became negligible towards the final miles of the race.
Course: The race starts on the Moate Road in Kilbeggan at the junction of the Clara Road. This road will be familiar to many as the 'old N6 Galway road' which has now been replaced with the M6 motorway. The race proceeded straight into Horseleap village which runners took a left turn bringing the race onto country roads towards the village of Clara. Before Clara runners took another left turn which brought them on the final 2.75 miles straight back into the finish at Kilbeggan GAA grounds just yards from the race start. The course is a challenging course. While there are no big hills there are numerous smaller challenging inclines including a steep motorway bridge ascent at the 9 mile mark.
Location Map: This is the link to the Google StreetView imagery of the start, finish, race HQ, and race parking facilities at Kilbeggan GAA Club (goo.gl/maps/T0UJS)
Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the village hall afterwards.

I was quite lucky with this picture, because the panning was quite successful on this one, she was running quite fast!
In some or other way I must have unknowingly wronged our IT department as I’ve been totally blocked from Flickr for the better part of the past week – Most Frustrating...
But anyway, I finally seem to be up and running again.
