(Archilochus colubris) The only hummingbird that has a natural range in Vermont. These are my first in my lifetime hummingbird photos and wouldn't you know it? That hair is on the glass!!!

The first week of Sept I quit feeding the hummingbirds to encourage them to start their long migratory journey south while the weather and nighttime tems are still warm.

Although my feeder has been quite active all summer, activity seems to have picked up recently. I suspect that the ruby-throated hummingbirds (Archilochus colubris) are getting ready to migrate.
