We stayed in the small town of Ross on Wye in Herefordshire for a few days last week , it was a good base to explore the area. We managed to visit Tintern Abbey, Hereford, Hay on Wye, the Forest of Dean and the Malvern Hills . All these places were completely new to us so it was an interesting few days This shot of Ross is taken from the banks of the River Wye

Grey skies...flat light...can't control the weather! Without your own transport, scheduling and travelling for perfect conditions is impossible. Take what you can...had to go b&w with this one. Imagine a bright autumn morning with light mist over the water and golden sun illuminating the scene.
No point crying over what you didn't get...play the cards you have...metaphors for life there somewhere! Have a great day!
Well I won't hold you in suspense any longer. Here it is, built in 1836 and the third oldest bridge still in use in Australia. It is perhaps the supreme masterpiece of all convict constructions in Australia. Now I'll admit that's a big claim, but later on in this series when we devote several days to studying this bridge closely, I hope to convince you that this is true.
This shot was taken late in the day as you can see by the long shadows and the golden light.
From historical sources it is clear that Queen Cleopatra used tones tending to crimson, while Nefertiti preferred the ruby red obtained from a particular type of henna and a few drops of blood.

There is a little bit of a climb on switchback right off the boat dock when you start along the Little Beaver trail. You continue upwards for a mile or so. About two thirds of the way up, you pass a series of peeks through the woods over Ross Lake and the direction you came from.
Sensational Saturday to you my friend.

A while ago, I looked after Ross for a couple of days. This is him in the fields beyond Captains Wood on his walk.
Ross-on-Wye is a market town and civil parish in Herefordshire, England, near the border with Wales on the River Wye and on the northern edge of the Forest of Dean.
The 700-year-old Church of England parish church, St Mary's, is the town's most prominent landmark. Its tall pointed spire is visible when approaching the town from all directions and is a tell-tale indicator of any photo of the town as to where it was taken
Historic Fort Ross perches on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, remnants of a dead Russian Empire, left in complete desolation on this remote and rugged stretch of the California coastline, in Sonoma County. This Winter aerial view from 100 meters above is comprised of two stitched exposure brackets.
Meet Ross who came, with his team, to install a new soakaway in our front garden. Chester came too although it was some time before I realised he was there, so quiet in the van, occasionally surveying the scene from the driver's window.
He is a French/English bulldog, only 2 years old, calm and obedient and I was surprised to learn that he is a rescue dog. Ross told me that he has put a lot of effort into training and that Chester goes everywhere with him.
I could not resist asking for a portrait of them together. The van seemed an appropriate backdrop. Chester also had a little walk around the garden and sat, in response to my 'Sit', near the front porch - but I had to be quick to capture that shot.
