A new droid. Never been fully seen here or either on the big screen, yet. This one is K-2SO, sometimes spelled Kaytoo Esso or Kay-Tuesso. It was an enforcer droid originally created for use in the Galactic Empire's armed forces. Nowadays, it's a reprogrammed Imperial security droid loyal to the Alliance.

We've just have to wait and see, whether there's going to be the same lovable factor, like C-3PO, R2-D2 and BB-8 has already.

I'd just had to photograph this new droid from the upcoming movie titled as The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. even tho, I pretty much don't have a clue about it's personality. This, however, gave me a free hands to try anything with it. This particular model is the Lego version I've acquired some time ago from The Bricklink. That's the eBay of Lego-things! And no, nobody gave me money for this advertisement. I'm just super happy user.

After seeing the movie (which was amazing!) I new I had to make at least one figure. I went with Cassian obviously but I wanted mine to stand out so I painted his outfit from the third act of the film. Everything is painted by me except for the head.

Well, there was one more photo to post this year, a photo of the Lego TIE Striker I took for a Stuck in Plastic piece. I posted an alternative version of this a few days ago but this is the real mccoy.

I struggled to decide whether Vader should have his lightsaber blazing in this or not. Having both, the cockpit and the lightsaber at the same time did not work, I tried all the different variations. For the Stuck in Plastic piece I chose the version with the red cockpit, it was about the Striker after all.

The decision wasn't merely because of the subject first however, it was also because this simply was the better exposure; the blizzard behaved perfectly on this. So, this one has better overall ambiance but the other one had the lightsaber, I couldn't let that go. I posted them both, because, why not? :)

The story in this is about Vader being stressed out and the wing layout of the Striker being good when retreating for meditation on desolate locations – such as Hoth, as in this case.

A portrait of K-2SO.

Slowly I picked my camera from the bag and took this photograph of the pilot approaching U-Wing Starfighter. It was a moment that was gone in a second as pilot went to his business. A magic moment, I thought afterwards.

So soon, just after you've gone, my senses sharpen and it took so damn long to realize, i've could sneak in to that Starfighter and look out this planet from the space. Oh, well!

Sometimes the simplest scenes you photograph between the key sessions are the golden ones.

Caught this shot of K-2S0 in the Chinese Rogue One Trailer and knew I had to shoot it. Only five more days to go, can't wait!

Everything was done in camera using the flashlight on my iPhone and a red gel - though I did add (an attempt at) some slight muzzle flash via Lightroom's Radial filter.

I've been playing with that filter quite a bit, and it's pretty neat what you can do with it.

Thanks for looking, appreaciate any constructive criticism.

thanks

The taxi driver in the mural is Bobby McNamara himself — it’s effectively a street‑art selfie.

He painted his own face behind the wheel, a playful signature that blends seamlessly into the scene.

The taxi’s registration number — RO6 U3 — is designed to read as “ROGUE”, a nod to his artist name Rogue One.

The TIE Striker fighter was an old model, easy to use, an inconspicuous little thing. You could get around with it without people paying too much attention. The wing layout was handy if it rained or snowed, it was like having an umbrella, but most importantly it acted as a cover when getting in and out of the craft.

Darth Vader preferred the Striker to his TIE Advanced when going for private lightsaber outdoors practice retreats. Yeah, he practiced. A lot. Like a maniac!

Little known fact: Darth Vader had weekly lightsaber practice. Every monday, no matter where he was.

Can't wait for Rogue One in December. The trailer has got me on the edge of my seat.

Taken with a Sony ILCE-7 at 70 mm f/11 1.0 sec ISO200

Hat's off to the man who coined the 'Rogue One' callsign, Mr Bodhi Rook. He had quite a busy day after defecting from the Empire, and if it wasn't for him, those Death Star plans would never have made it off of Scarif.

For your service to the Rebellion, we salute you!

PS - How on earth did he manage to keep his goggles throughout the entire movie!?!?!

I can't get enough of building these Scarif sets. Hopefully I have some shot ideas left by the time the official LEGO Scarif base set comes out in March.

Thanks for looking. Feedback is always welcome, thanks!

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU FAVE!

So, I've seen the Rogue One trailers and stuff, and tbh I'm not super hyped yet. I really liked Jyn and Krennic so these are prolly the only Rogue One figs I'm making. We'll see.

Jyn Erso- You saw her a while back but hey. Her head is a modded Sabine head. Her coat is painted paper with Various details. Legs are death star trooper because I copy Michael mgf :P The torso is painted with some basic detail. Neck cloth is from some fabric.

Director Orson Krennic- This dude is pretty basic. The garbs are made of paper and the cape is fabric. Head is LOTR I think. Hair is from an advent calendar!

Remember to comment! And thanks!

My hype for Rogue One is hiting critical mass thanks to the latest trailer. I've been pouring over the the footage from the trailer looking for shots ot try and emulate with LEGO, and the image of the deathstar faintly looming over a planet in the background was too good to pass up.

This was a fun one to shoot, though I wish I added a bit more detail in the foreground as the shot from the trailer is pretty crisp. I may try a reshoot, but for now what do you think?

Starting off 2019 with a bang! I'm incredibly happy with how this came out, especially since it's one of my favorite Star Wars scenes of all time. My goals for 2019 are to put further effort into each model, and more pieces, perhaps resulting in fewer builds...but much nicer ones. I also hope to really focus on my presentation and photography in order to improve both. Looking forward to a new year!

More photos on my website!

Through the creations that I build, I hope to inspire other young (or perhaps older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity. We all need a positive way to express ourselves, so let's allow LEGO to be an extension of us. Your creativity belongs to you, and nobody can take that away. Build what you want to build, and how you want to build it.

Watche Rogue One again, and damnit, I think I like it even more now. I've always been a huge fan of the droids from the Star Wars universe, and K2 makes a great addition to the list.

I just wish there was a way to work in a scene between him and C-3PO. Just imagine that conversation...

Had to do something for the teaser trailer. This was a fairly quick and dirty composite of a few rejected shots.

Love seeing the classic Stormtroopers and Rebels... and of course the At-AT's.

If you have time the view on BLACK without distractions cheers Ed

Ahh... those Star Wars Tactical displays. Oh how I love them. Once again I resorted to using the Peppers Ghost affect in order to pull this off in camera.

Over the holiday break I'm going to invest some time into building a rig to make this effect easier. Currently, I balance everything very precariously, so much so, that the slightest movement knocks it all down and I have to reset up everything all over.

I tooksome liberties with the screen here, as the shot didn't look as interesting when I attempted to mimic the display from the trailer.

Only two more days until I see Rogue One. Hype is high!

Thanks for looking.

Have you watched the new trailer?

Cracked open my first, Rogue One LEGO set - the U-Wing. While assembling the set I got the idea for this shot and had to drop everything to shoot it.

The set piece is a small, MOC I built for a previous shot. Also, I'm getting a ton of mileage out of this mini Death Star. So glad I scooped it up.

Still counting down the days until Rogue One's premiere. Who's going to be there on day 1 with me?

762 pieces, 3 minifigs (1 in reclinable gunner seat, comfortably hidden from view).

Designed for sturdiness, playability, and to be handsome if possible.

Removable sloping front and top panels to access a fully furnished chassis.

After the Rogue One was released, I bought a U-Wing set. For some reason, I forgot to upload this frame, until now! Always kinda liked the grain on this specific frame for cinematic reasons. It's a bit simple frame really.

Honestly, Rogue One is my favorite of the new wave of Star Wars, full of interesting new design, ideas and unobtrusive fan-service for the most part. Among the wave of new ships it brought, the U-wing is certainly one the best. I am a bit late to the game, although I have been refining this design since December 2017.

Similarly to my last X-wing, there is also room for some improvement here. The swing wings, for instance, are technically working but currently put way too much stress on too few bricks. This is precarious at best, unfortunately.

Also this could almost qualify as a SHIP. It misses the mark by only 7 studs !

I can't wait Starwars Rogueone.

This is a mixture of original LEGOs and bootlegs. You can't hardly tell the difference except for a few lines here and there. The idea of the pouchs on the two troopers on the front line comes from Kyle Hardisty excellent photographs. If you do not know his photostream go have a look - he is really talented and I aspire to do photos like him one day.

This was started as a quick test in compositing a few images together.

There's only really one tree (with a few shots at different angles), Death Trooper and shrubs were also separate shots.

And I wanted a quick shot of one of Brickarms new gorgeous Star Wars(y) weapons. Hopefully more to come soon.

Hello everyone !

Just wanted to throw this in there since this is something i've been working on since December, this is also something i've been wanting to show you for a while, they are not done yet since i have 3 Death Troopers yet to arrive, this means 1 specialist and 2 regular Death Troopers are yet to be done (just photoshopped the 3 finished ones i have over and over lol) so expect the full showcase thing next month ! also thought the timing was right since we're a week away from the Rebels season 3 finale (these guys will actually show up !) and a week away till the RO Blue-Ray comes out ! so ye...

Hope you have a Bricktacular day & May the force be with you !

All the gadgets inside K-2SO's head provided ample amount of data and estimates of the thickness and density of the ice. But without actually testing it, one could not be sure. I mean, you know how it is.

K-2SO fell through ice several times that winter.
