Jeffy took possession of Marianne's great-grandmother's rocking chair soon after we got here. I also sat in it quite a bit before the POD arrived yesterday, grateful for something more comfortable than the maple dining room chairs that were my other choice. Now that I have more comfortable options, I'm delighted that Jeffy likes the rocking chair. I have it next to my desk chair, where I can reach out and pet him while I'm at the computer, just as I could back in Tennessee with me at the computer and Jeffy on the bed. That's great!
this rocking chair was made by my great, great grandfather, refinished by my dad and given to me. I love it! I love to curl up with my favorite wool blanket, my knitting basket and cup of tea--perfection!

The seat had been recovered at some point in the 1970s, but I'm pretty sure the chair is much older. I was told it is Amish.

When I started to upload my pictures on Flickr, 26 months ago, I didn't think I'll photograph so much, I just wanted to show my pictures to my family. Very fast, photography became my passion, my way of keeping a journal, my way of life. I didn't see it coming, it just grew wild on me.
I didn't see the years passing either.
When I was younger, I thought a sixty four year old person (I was a Beatles fan) was more than ancient, old, very old. Well, I am happy and grateful to life for keeping me alive so far.
In a few years, when I am 64, God willing, I'll look back marveling at life, wondering where have all those years gone to, given I'll still have a healthy mind. (God forbid Alzheimer, that horrible robber of memory and personality.)
We have absolutely no control. Perhaps life is just what we make of it at this present moment, maybe that is all that counts. That and love. And forgiveness.
In a few years it won't matter anymore whether I lost those damned ten-twenty pounds or whether I succeeded to achieve a certain goal.
Ultimately, at the very end of the day, loving kindness is what really counts. And friendship.
