Time to relax with a stimulating game of checkers at the Vermont Country Store...any takers, or did that "old rocking chair get ya?"

Some time ago I visited APCA, an NGO for cats and farm animals, located in Uruguay in the department of Canelones.

APCA arises from the need to generate a safe place for the rehoming of colonies of feral, endangered or abused cats. They currently also have farm animals that have been rescued from human abuse.

The work they do is exceptional.

Among the animals rescued there are cases of cruelty, accidents, paralysis, cancer and other diseases, as well as cats that have been abandoned.

In viable cases, they are available for responsible adoption.

Sometimes I try to picture Otis as a scrappy little kitten begging for food outside a barbecue restaurant. Someone interceded and took him to an animal shelter. He was an adult by the time we adopted him from the shelter.

This old wooden rocking chair sits abandoned on the porch of an old building in central Oregon. I found the springs an interesting way to make a rocking chair.

The boys sometimes have their evening nap together. They might stay there all night...

My mom never saw this rocking chair.....but she always wanted one like it....and would have liked this one......I enjoy sitting in it out on my front porch sometimes.....on warm summer nights.....and remembering my mom! Here's one of her favorite songs.....by good ol' Nat!
