Doncaster is a large market town in South Yorkshire, England. Together with its surrounding suburbs and settlements, the town forms part of the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, which had a mid-2014 est. population of 304,185. The town itself has a population of 109,805. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Doncaster is about 20 miles (30 km) from Sheffield, with which it is served jointly by an international airport, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield in Finningley. The Doncaster Urban Area had a population of 158,141 in 2011 and includes Doncaster and the neighbouring small town of Bentley as well as some other villages.
BMW Isetta 1962
The Isetta is an Italian-designed microcar built under license in a number of different countries, including Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, it became known as a bubble car, a name later given to other similar vehicles.
In 1955, the BMW Isetta became the world's first mass-production car to achieve a fuel consumption of 3 L/100 km (94 mpg-imp; 78 mpg-US). It was the top-selling single-cylinder car in the world, with 161,728 units sold.
Initially manufactured by the Italian firm Iso SpA, the name Isetta is the Italian diminutive form of ISO, meaning little ISO

National Pinup Day is celebrated annually on April 22nd and was founded by Mission Tattoo in 2019. The day's purpose is to celebrate and promote the classic pin-up culture. Since the 1940s, pin-up has been an integral part of American culture. Pin-up refers to paintings, drawings, other illustrations, and photographs of models. They see the appeal in popular culture and have been delighting fans for a long time. The day comes with retro vibes that coincide with the origins of pin-up models. On this day feel free to dress up in vintage or retro clothes. I think my entire wardrobe at this point can be considered vintage. Apparently it's Earth Day too. Does this still count? Captured sometime around 1989–1990, this moment shows me with my mother’s Citroën 2CV—effectively my first car—parked near the old ferry staging area in Horten. The image was taken on film, adding that unmistakable analog character: soft grain, muted tones, and the feel of a time when every frame mattered. It’s a snapshot from the early days of both driving and photography, a quiet pause preserved through the lens of classic film.

Spotted in May 2025, this Irish Rail General Motors Class 071 engine in its snazzy orange retro livery is like a time machine on tracks! Back in the late 1970s, when these beauties first rolled into Ireland, they were the talk of the town—fresh off the boat from General Motors, ready to haul everything from passengers to freight with a rumble that could wake the sleepiest of villages. Seeing this vibrant orange beast today, chugging along the tracks with the Dublin skyline in the background, feels like a warm hug from the past. It’s as if the loco is saying, “I’m still here, folks, and I’ve still got that 70s swagger!”
The Class 071s were the rockstars of Irish Rail back in the day, and this retro livery brings all those memories flooding back—kids waving at the train as it passed, the thrill of hearing its horn echo through the countryside, and the sheer awe of its power. Parked here beside the modern high-rises and that distant church spire, it’s a perfect blend of old and new, a reminder of simpler times when a train like this was the height of cool. So here’s to the 071, still stealing the show in 2025, proving that some classics never go out of style—just like a good pair of flared jeans or a catchy disco tune!
