MPI Resolution is a Turbine Installation Vessel deployed to install turbines at offshore wind farms. It was the first self-elevating Turbine Installation Vessel in the world. She can raise herself on her six legs between 3 metres and 46 metres above the sea
This is a Panorama out of 4 x 80MegaPixel Higheres Pen-F Shots.
I did some Postprocessing to eliminate the Blur in the Water and to delete the movement of the people.

Happy New Year to you all!
2023 was not a great year for me and I am sad to report that it has been 8 months since I even picked up my camera. It hardly ever left my side before, like an extension of my own eyes, but PTSD swallowed me whole and I had lost all inspiration.
My New Year's Resolution, to myself, is to make friends with my camera once again. I don't know what direction that will take other than I want to get to know her again and put her to use doing what Canon intended.
Your support through such a difficult year has been a real lifeline and I do not say so lightly. Thank you all so very much, from the depths of my heart, and I hope that I can eventually repay you all with new work to share.
My warmest wishes to you for 2024 my Flickr friends. The world has gone completely crazy and looks set to continue on that path but know that I will be there with you. Sharing my photography and, more importantly, enjoying the work and words that you share and letting you know that I am thrilled to be on that journey with you.

TIV MPI Resolution a wind turbine installation vessel owned by Mayflower Energy Ltd and launched in 2003 is seen berthed at Liverpool's cruise terminal on a calm Winters evening towards the end of the evening ebb tide.

Her carrying capacity is 174 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 4 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 29.87 meters and her width is 13.08 meters.

50018 "Resolution" literally blasts out of Buckhorn Weston Tunnel with the 10.20 Exeter - Waterloo on 29 July 1989.
I thought this was just a wasp with iridescent wings photo but the big screen revealed it is a wasp with an ant as prey. I don't know if the wasp's eyes are really green or that's a reflection of surrounding greenery. Circle of life at the micro level.

I decided to try something a little different and make a list on my Scrabble board game of words which I associate with my New Years resolutions for this year. Sure, I could have come up with a list of the typical resolutions most people make every year but instead I decided to go with what is really important in life which is being grateful for what I already have and to hopefully continue to have peace and love in my life so I can enjoy it as best as I can.
Great start to the year with my boys... This was a fun one, "keepin it counthry lads!"... sketch was actually from last summer so it's a little different from what I'm playing with at the minute but nice to not think so much and just get funky. Last year was good, but this year is going to be great, at a new stage in my life and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who I painted with last year again and people I'm going to paint with this year for the first time.

This Superb Blue Wren was with Mrs Wren today amongst the sere grasses and blackberries that have sprung up near the wetlands when I went for a walk today. One of my New Year resolutions to to do more walking and start dieting. Hopefully, I'll be more successful than in previous years. This is an example of the type of post-processing I sometimes do... I drop brightness and exposure way down which compacts the tonal resolution artificially, and then adjust light levels accordingly. This reduction of the number of tones in the image can produce nice drama in scenes with light/dark contrasts. At the extreme, you could have a monotone (pure black and pure white); the image above probably contains about 10 or 15 tones. (Note: In the original post I called this "Low Dynamic Range"; I believe "Low Tonal Resolution" is more accurate.) (Explore)

Sony A7iii using the mechanical shutter. Manual focusing with this camera is a dream (much easier than the inflexible range finding system on my Leica). This is a true "close-up" - I almost touched the mirror. Being a 24MP full-frame camera with a normal lens at F1.8, you can produce a precise DOF where you want it and you don't need to worry about resolution or optical quality. Does the image have more "punch", "character" or other ill-defined advantages when compared to similar ones done with my Fujis or my Leica? I am not sure. I think they are expressing what I see in different ways and sometimes I prefer the one over the other.

This high-resolution image captured by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft combines blue, red and infrared images taken by the Ralph/Multispectral Visual Imaging Camera (MVIC). Pluto’s surface shows a remarkable range of subtle colors, enhanced in this view to a rainbow of pale blues, yellows, oranges, and deep reds. The bright expanse is the western lobe of the “heart,” informally known as Tombaugh Regio. The lobe, informally called Sputnik Planum, has been found to be rich in nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and methane ices.
I am not a fan of winter but I live in the north and have to get over it. My last couple of years in Winnipeg I did my best to embrace winter. I tried to get to all the winter events I could every weekend. I am going to try that again this year.
