or, How to Completely Destroy Your Reputation in 24 Hours or Less.
Once upon a time, the Left Party (née Socialist Unity Party of East Germany, and later known as the Party of German Socialism) had a member of parliament from Lübeck named Lutz Heilmann. In 2005, the national news magazine Der Spiegel published an article pointing out that Mr. Heilmann had kinda sorta forgotten to tell people he once worked for the Stasi. As in, was actually employed by the Stasi, rather than just being an informant (The latter would be nothing new; there are multiple representatives from a certain party who may or may not have literally ratted out their own mothers to the secret police to get ahead. Seriously.). For what it's worth, Mr. Heilmann apparently worked for the Stasi equivalent of the Secret Service, which was primarily responsible for securing the Politbüro compound north of Berlin as well as the daily convoy into the city, despite some moonlighting in spying and repression. This discussion seems to have died down a bit in the last three years, but then Mr. Heilmann committed the third of the classic blunders: he messed with the Internets.
You see, the German Wikipedia had an article that mentioned his alleged Stasi ties, and he was unhappy about this. In true German fashion, he sued for libel. Wait, you say, he can do that? Yes, unfortunately. In the US, libel law as such applies almost exclusively to private citizens. The general legal precedent is that freedom of the press outweighs privacy concerns for public figures, and the threshold for libel against a government official is very, very high. In particular, the author of libelous speech publish information that he knows to be false. German courts, on the other hand, are much readier to quash potentially libelous speech on privacy grounds. You can already see how an American-style political campaign would be sued out of existence before it even got off the ground.
On Thursday, November 13, Mr. Heilmann won his suit, and the court ordered Wikimedia Deutschland to remove the link between wikipedia.de and de.wikipedia.org. I think you already see the problem here. The Wikipedia servers are in Florida, and the wikipedia.org domain is way beyond the jurisdiction of German courts. Germany is also not (yet) China, so when wikipedia.de stops working, people go looking for a reason why, and find it. Before this weekend, Mr. Heilmann's article was being viewed about 20 times per day, making him about as interesting as central Asian steppe rodents or the finer points of Klingon poetry. Today, (partly due to the story making Slashdot), he got 240k hits and counting, and his article has been translated to at least 6 other languages. So, now, there a few hundred thousand people who know nothing about Mr. Heilmann other than that he was once a member of the Stasi, and that he reacts to criticism with heavy-handed censorship. Way to go there, Slugger!
It never ceases to amaze me how such a wide variety of people, from corporate goons to Stasi stooges, fail to understand the Web. Nerds react very poorly to censorship, no matter what the justification may be. If you wish for something to remain quiet, leave it alone! If you try to censor the Web, it will blow up in your face.

The so-called castle in the city center of Klagenfurt at the lake Wörthersee was built in the 16th century by the Protestant estates as a school. Today it houses the Museum of Modern Art Carinthia.
History
The construction of the castle was begun in 1586 by the Protestant estates, the lords of the city of Klagenfurt. It was built according to the plans of Johann Anton Verda, who was also instrumental in the Landhaus (Regional Parliament). The building was built for the "Collegium sapientiae et pietatis", the Protestant nobility school. The Collegium had a good reputation across the country, and chronicler Christalnick even compared it to the University of Bologna. It had its own observatory and a labyrinth in the garden.
After the Counter Reformation, the building was the seat of the burgrave from 1604 to 1747. In 1733/34 the castle chapel was added, thus the building was extended. In 1773/74 the building was extended to three storeys, the facade was built uniformly with pilasters and stuccoed window finials. In 1854, a staircase tower was built in the arcade courtyard. The bomb damages incurred during the Second World War were quickly eliminated after 1945. In 1933 the Carinthian Provincial Gallery was established on the first floor, which was dissolved in 1938 and reopened in 1965. It has its focus in the Carinthian painting of the 19th and 20th centuries and has been called the Museum of Modern Art Carinthia for several years.
During the Second World War, the castle was the seat of Gestapo headquarters Klagenfurt. In addition to the offices, there were also interrogation rooms and a small cell area. The Gestapo prison itself, however, was on the second floor in the building of the present State Court Prison.
Specifications
The castle is a large, quadrangular, three-storey complex comprising the block formed by Burg alley, Paradeiser alley, Railway Station street and Dom alley. The Burg alley front comprises 17 window axes, as well as the front to Burg alley, while the south side comprises only 10 window axes. The facades are elongated and divided by pilasters. The simple windows are completed by triangles and segmental arches. The facade to Paradeiser alley is simpler. Inside there is another arcade courtyard. On its west side lies the two-storey passage, which opens with arcades to the courtyard. The north side has three-storey arcades, as well as the east wing, the top arcades being glazed. On the south side, the arcades are interrupted by the staircase tower. The tower was built in 1854, coinciding with the south portal. On this side the number of arcades opposite the ground floor is doubled on the first floor.
Inside, the halls are partially stuccoed. Two bear stucco ceilings by Gabriel Wittini (1682). A vaulted room in the north wing bears Baroque cartilage stucco from the 17th century with winged angel heads, herms, lion heads and human heads. In the eastern wing there are flat stucco ceilings with flower tendrils (circa 1780). The ceiling of the old castle chapel on the first floor of the northern wing bears delicate pieces of leaves, flowers, ribbons, rosettes, cartridges and lattices, in which the Christ, Mary and Jesuit monogram is incorporated.
Chapel
The present-day chapel was founded in 1734 by burgrave Wolfgang Sigismund von Orsini-Rosenberg. It was to serve the honor of Saint Domitian and the memory of the burgraves of Klagenfurt. The new chapel was added to the castle building on the west side of the northern tract, the facade resembling that of the castle. The portal of the chapel is located on the north side and is representative with pilasters, volutes and the crowned by the ducal coronet Carinthian coat of arms. The hall is two storeys high, barrel-vaulted and structured by painted pilasters. The west side is a straight altar wall. In the southeast corner there is a stone staircase that leads to the castle. The remainder of the east wall is occupied by a wooden oratory bay which bears gilded ornaments. Under the bay window are the names of the 19 burgraves and a Latin inscription by the hand of Josef Ferdinand Fromiller.
The chapel room is dominated by Fromillers fresco "Triumph of St. Domitian". Domitian hovers over the Millstatt Abbey, surrounded by angels. The inscription volume reads: "SANCTUS DOMITIANUS CARINTHIAE ARCHIDUX & APOSTOLUS". The image of the monastery is historically interesting, as it shows that the two west towers of the collegiate church, as well as proven for the cathedral of Gurk, used to be connected by a wooden bridge. On the north and south wall there are as an illusionist painting of other Carinthian saints: the Holy Choir Bishop Modestus (Chorbishop: A chorbishop is a rank of Christian clergy below bishop), who proselytized Karantania (Carantania, also known as Carentania (Slovene: Karantanija, German: Karantanien, in Old Slavic *Korǫtanъ), was a Slavic principality that emerged in the second half of the 7th century, in the territory of present-day southern Austria and north-eastern Slovenia. It was the predecessor of the March of Carinthia, created within the Carolingian Empire in 889), the legendary Saint Brictius of Heiligenblut, St. Hildegard of Stein (Jauntal valley Carinthia) and St. Hemma of Gurk. Followed by the saints Donatus, John Nepomuk and Franz Xaver, who have no direct Carinthian reference, but here were greatly worshiped. The saints are standing on painted pilasters. The pilasters are connected by also painted baluster railings. On the altar wall the railing is interrupted by a staircase painted in perspective. Here is the construction inscription from 1743. The vault bears another fresco, which represents a mock architecture with a dome in which cherubs float.

Die sogenannte Burg im Stadtzentrum von Klagenfurt am Wörthersee wurde im 16. Jahrhundert von den protestantischen Landständen als Schule errichtet. Heute beherbergt sie das Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten.
Geschichte
Der Bau der Burg wurde 1586 durch die protestantischen Landstände, die Herren der Stadt Klagenfurt, begonnen. Errichtet wurde sie nach den Plänen von Johann Anton Verda, der auch maßgeblich am Landhaus beteiligt war. Errichtet wurde das Gebäude für das „Collegium sapientiae et pietatis“, die protestantische Adelsschule. Das Collegium hatte einen über die Landesgrenzen reichenden guten Ruf, der Chronist Christalnick verglich es sogar mit der Universität Bologna. Es besaß eine eigene Sternwarte und im Garten ein Labyrinth.
Nach der Gegenreformation war das Gebäude von 1604 bis 1747 Sitz des Burggrafen. 1733/34 wurde die Burgkapelle angebaut, dadurch wurde der Baukörper verlängert. 1773/74 wurde das Gebäude auf drei Geschoße aufgestockt, die Fassade wurde einheitlich mit Pilastern und stuckierten Fensterbekrönungen errichtet. 1854 wurde im Arkadenhof ein Treppenhausturm errichtet. Die im Zweiten Weltkrieg entstandenen Bombenschäden wurden nach 1945 rasch beseitigt. 1933 wurde im ersten Stock die Kärntner Landesgalerie eingerichtet, die 1938 aufgelöst und 1965 wiedereröffnet wurde. Sie hat ihren Schwerpunkt in der Kärntner Malerei des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts und heißt seit einigen Jahren Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten.
Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges war die Burg Sitz der Gestapoleitstelle Klagenfurt. Neben den Büroräumen gab es auch Verhörräume und einen kleinen Zellenbereich. Das Gestapogefängnis selbst befand sich allerdings im zweiten Stock im Gebäude des heutigen Landesgerichtsgefängnisses.
Baubeschreibung
Die Burg ist eine große, viereckige, dreigeschoßige Anlage und umfasst den Block, der von Burggasse, Paradeisergasse, Bahnhofstraße und Domgasse gebildet wird. Die Burggassenfront umfasst 17 Fensterachsen, ebenso die Front zur Burggasse, während die Südseite nur 10 Fensterachsen umfasst. Die Fassaden sind langgestreckt und von Pilastern unterteilt. Die einfachen Fenster werden von Dreiecken und Segmentbogen abgeschlossen. Die Fassade zur Paradeisergasse ist einfacher gestaltet. Im Inneren befindet sich ein weiter Arkadenhof. An seiner Westseite liegt der zweigeschoßige Gangtrakt, der sich mit Arkaden zum Hof öffnet. Die Nordseite hat dreigeschoßige Arkaden, ebenso der Osttrakt, wobei die obersten Arkaden verglast sind. An der Südseite sind die Arkaden durch den Treppenhausturm unterbrochen. Der Turm entstand 1854, zeitgleich mit dem Südportal. An dieser Seite ist im ersten Stock die Zahl der Arkaden gegenüber dem Erdgeschoß verdoppelt.
Im Inneren sind die Säle teilweise stuckiert. Zwei tragen Stuckdecken von Gabriel Wittini (1682). Ein gewölbter Raum im Nordtrakt trägt barocken Knorpelwerk-Stuck aus dem 17. Jahrhundert mit geflügelten Engelsköpfen, Hermen, Löwen- und Menschenköpfen. Im Osttrakt gibt es flache Stuckdecken mit Blütenranken (circa 1780). Die Decke der alten Burgkapelle im ersten Stock des Nordtraktes trägt zarten Stuck aus Blättern, Blüten, Bändern, Rosetten, Kartuschen und Gittern, in die das Christus-, Marien- und Jesuitenmonogramm eingearbeitet sind.
Kapelle
Die heutige Kapelle wurde 1734 von Burggraf Wolfgang Sigismund von Orsini-Rosenberg gestiftet. Sie sollte der Ehre des Heiligen Domitian und dem Andenken der Burggrafen von Klagenfurt dienen. Die neue Kapelle wurde dem Burg-Gebäude an der Westseite des Nordtrakts angebaut, die Fassade gleicht der der Burg. Das Portal der Kapelle liegt an der Nordseite und ist mit Pilastern, Voluten und dem vom Herzogshut gekrönten Kärntner Wappen repräsentativ ausgestaltet. Der Saal ist zwei Geschoße hoch, tonnengewölbt und durch gemalte Pilaster gegliedert. Die Westseite ist eine gerade Altarwand. In der Südostecke befindet sich eine steinerne Stiege, über die man in die Burg gelangt. Die übrige Ostwand wird von einem hölzernen Oratoriumserker eingenommen, der vergoldete Ornamente trägt. Unter dem Erker befinden sich von der Hand Josef Ferdinand Fromillers die Namen der 19 Burggrafen und eine lateinische Inschrift.
Der Kapellenraum wird von Fromillers Fresko „Triumph des Heiligen Domitian“ beherrscht. Domitian schwebt über dem Stift Millstatt, von Engeln umgeben. Das Inschriftband lautet: „SANCTUS DOMITIANUS CARINTHIAE ARCHIDUX & APOSTOLUS“. Das Bild des Stiftes ist historisch interessant, zeigt es doch, dass die beiden Westtürme der Stiftskirche, wie auch für den Dom zu Gurk belegt, früher über eine Holzbrücke verbunden waren. An der Nord- und Südwand befinden sich als Illusionsmalerei Fresken weiterer Kärntner Heiliger: der Heilige Chorbischof Modestus, der Karantanien missionierte, der legendenhafte Heilige Brictius von Heiligenblut, die Heilige Hildegard von Stein und die Heilige Hemma von Gurk. Es folgen die Heiligen Donatus, Johannes Nepomuk und Franz Xaver, die keinen unmittelbaren Kärntenbezug aufweisen, hier aber stark verehrt wurden. Die Heiligen stehen auf gemalten Pilastern. Die Pilaster sind durch ebenfalls gemalte Balustergeländer verbunden. An der Altarwand ist das Geländer durch einen perspektivisch gemalten Stiegenaufgang unterbrochen. Hier befindet sich die Bauinschrift von 1743. Das Gewölbe trägt ein weiteres Fresko, das eine Scheinarchitektur mit Kuppel darstellt, in der Putten schweben.

This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 20:00. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC who have a catchment area in this part of rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 420 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing. The very changeable and unseasonably weather of late made for an unpredictable night weather wise. A shower of hail fell on runners between 2KM and 3KM and yet this shower didn't fall on the finish area at the Hamlet Court Hotel.
This race is part of the annual Meath Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The Na Fianna club, who organise the race, have a catchment area of South Meath and North West Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan in County Meath. This road race has grown from strength to strength year on year and is now one of the premier 5KM races in Ireland and one of the top club attended races in Leinster. The race starts on the busy Enfield to Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants.
The Na Fianna Athletic Club are a small, but well established, athletics club. This race is an example of how road racing should be organised and how a small race can turn itself and evolve into something which achieves near legendary status amongst runners.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 20:00. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC who have a catchment area in this part of rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 420 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing. The very changeable and unseasonably weather of late made for an unpredictable night weather wise. A shower of hail fell on runners between 2KM and 3KM and yet this shower didn't fall on the finish area at the Hamlet Court Hotel.
This race is part of the annual Meath Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The Na Fianna club, who organise the race, have a catchment area of South Meath and North West Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan in County Meath. This road race has grown from strength to strength year on year and is now one of the premier 5KM races in Ireland and one of the top club attended races in Leinster. The race starts on the busy Enfield to Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants.

Despite Dallas's reputation as one of the state's more conservative cities, it's LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer) community was among the first in Texas to organize politically and socially. In 1947, the city became home to one of the first gay bars in Texas, Club Reno, and in 1972 was the site of the first Gay Pride Parade in Texas. In 1980, the Pride Parade moved from downtown to Cedar Springs Road.
The area surrounding the intersection of Throckmorton Street and Cedar Springs Road has been considered the center of the Dallas LGBTQ community since the early 1970s and is known as "The Gay Crossroads" or "The Crossroads." In the late 1960s and early 1970s, The Crossroads was a magnet for the city's counterculture movements. Gays and Lesbians began moving to the area, drawn to its Bohemian image and picturesque architecture. More gay-owned businesses and bars followed, and by the end of the 1970s, the majority of businesses in the area catered to the LGBTQ community. With the onslaught of the AIDS Crisis in the 1980s, The Crossroads became not only an entertainment district, but also a center for political activism, social services and medical testing.
As the historic heart of the LGBTQ community of Dallas, The Crossroads remains the location of the oldest gay businesses in the city and as the primary gathering point for LGBTQ political and social events, including the Alan Ross Freedom Parade. The Crossroads continues to serve the neighborhood and the city of Dallas as a symbol of social, economic and political action among the LGBTQ community.

This is a photograph from the 15th annual Daingean Festival 5KM Road Race and Fun Run held in Daingean, Co. Offaly, on Friday 1st August 2014 at 19:30. The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging but fair 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This is the second year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village.
The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.

Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience. There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the village hall afterwards. There was over 170 participants in the race tonight.

The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. This is a photograph from the 14th annual Daingean Festival 5KM Road Race and Fun Run held in Daingean, Co. Offaly, on Friday 2nd August 2013 at 19:30. The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village (see below). The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 180 participants
Weather: Whilst there was a threat of thundery showers the evening was dry and humid with temperatures around 18C. The runners had a breeze in their faces for the first 2 km but this turned to a tail breeze for the remainder of the race.
Course: The race starts at the Canal at the Edenderry road end of the village. The race then proceeds to do one full loop of the Circular road and then proceeds out the main Tullamore road. At 3KM the course takes a series of right turns which brings the race back to the finish just off the main street opposite the hall.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the village hall afterwards.
