More than two-thirds of Americans claim to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and about half attend a church somewhat regularly. But half of those church-goers say their lives have not changed one bit because of their church attendance. And most people today agree that the biggest difference between “Christians“ and non-Christians is that “Christians“ are busy on Sunday mornings.

If a Christian is, by definition, a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ (His disciple, or “apprentice”; Acts 11.26), then why are there so many “Christians“ who attend church but who do not act like Christians?

The answer is simple: They are not Christians; they’re just pretending.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [1John 2.3-4]

Many professing Christians believe they are safely on their way to heaven because they have prayed a prayer, been baptized, joined a church, built friendships at church, learned the “church-talk,” or enjoyed church fellowship activities. However, Jesus Christ Himself said that many would be shocked and horrified on the Day of Judgment when they are told, “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7.21-23). They said they followed the Lord, but they were just pretending!

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? [Luke 6.46]

Jesus said that “by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7.16-20). A true follower of Christ, a Christian, will have a life that bears visible evidence that Jesus is truly his Lord.

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words… [John 14.23]

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. [Romans 6.22]

The Bible states clearly and repeatedly that salvation from sin and sin’s penalty (suffering the wrath of God in hell) is graciously given to those who have repented (turned from sin and self) and placed their complete faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ (turning to Christ, to trust and follow Him). That conversion from sin and self, to the Lord will bear genuine, lasting, and visible fruit:

Fruit of Repentance: Turning from sin (Mat 3.8; 2Tim 2.19)

Fruit of Knowledge: A desire to learn Scripture (2Tim 3.15-4.5)

Fruit of Good Works: Obedience to Scripture (John 14.15, 21, 23; Col 1.10)

Fruit of Holiness: Growing in Christ-likeness (Rom 6.22; Gal 5.22-24)

Fruit of Evangelism: An urgency to see others saved (Rom 10.13-17; 2Cor 5.15-20)

The good news of the Gospel is that, even though God is angry with the wicked every day because of their sins against Him (Psalm 7.11), He does not want any to perish and suffer His righteous and just wrath in Hell (2Peter 3.9). God wants all sinners to be saved, and to this end Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross for all, and then rose from the dead defeating death and proving He is God. But Jesus said, “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13.3). You must turn from sin and self! And you must turn to the Lord Jesus Christ in faith and trust, because there is no salvation outside of Him (Acts 4.12; 16.30-31)!

Nothing is more important than your eternal destiny. Please examine yourself to see if you are in the faith (2Corinthians 13.5), or if you, like so many others, are just pretending.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? [2Corinthians 13.5]

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. [Matthew 7.13-14]

Revelation 3:19 - be zealous and repent

Parc Güell was originally supposed to be a residential area in Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudi. He died before it was completed, and eventually it was turned into a public park.

Gaudi was a profoundly religious man, and of course the plan for Parc Güell included a little church, on top of the hill. This was never actually build, and this massive cross was put in place instead. Now it is swarmed with tourists, since the view from the top is very impressive, and people feel compelled to take pictures of Barcelona below.

Cheiro de Amor

Maria Bethania

Volte logo meu amor...

I

En una noche pavorosa, inquieto

releía un vetusto mamotreto

cuando creí escuchar

un extraño ruido, de repente

como si alguien tocase suavemente

a mi puerta: «Visita impertinente

es, dije y nada más » .

II

V

Miro al espacio, exploro la tiniebla

y siento entonces que mi mente puebla

turba de ideas cual

ningún otro mortal las tuvo antes

y escucho con oídos anhelantes

«Leonora » unas voces susurrantes

murmurar nada más.

VI

Vuelvo a mi estancia con pavor secreto

y a escuchar torno pálido e inquieto

más fuerte golpear;

«algo, me digo, toca en mi ventana,

comprender quiero la señal arcana

y calmar esta angustia sobrehumana »:

¡el viento y nada más!

VII

Y la ventana abrí: revolcando

vi entonces un cuervo venerando

como ave de otra edad;

como me ha abandonado la esperanza »;

dijo el cuervo: «¡Jamás! »

XI

Una respuesta al escuchar tan neta

me dije, no sin inquietud secreta,

«Es esto nada más.

Cuanto aprendió de un amo infortunado,

a quien tenaz ha perseguido el hado

y por solo estribillo ha conservado

¡ese jamás, jamás! »

XII

XIV

Entonces parecióme el aire denso

con el aroma de quemado incienso

de un invisible altar;

y escucho voces repetir fervientes:

«Olvida a Leonor, bebe el nepenthes

bebe el olvido en sus letales fuentes »;

dijo el cuervo: «¡Jamás! »

XV

XVI

«Profeta, dije, o diablo, infausto cuervo

por Dios, por mí, por mi dolor acerbo,

por tu poder fatal

dime si alguna vez a Leonora

volveré a ver en la eternal aurora

donde feliz con los querubes mora »;

dijo el cuervo: «¡Jamás! »

XVII

dijo el cuervo: «¡Jamás! »

XVIII

Y el cuervo inmóvil, fúnebre y adusto

sigue siempre de Palas sobre el busto

y bajo mi fanal,

proyecta mancha lúgubre en la alfombra

y su mirada de demonio asombra...

¡Ay! ¿Mi alma enlutada de su sombra

se librará? ¡Jamás!

And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Mark 1:15

I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Luke 15:7

Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. Luke 15:10

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. Acts 5:30-31

When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. Acts 11:18

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Acts 17:29-30

Are you ready to stand before God if you died today?

The Bible declares that one day you will die and then stand face to face with God to be judged. Hebrews 9:27 reads, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Nothing in your entire life could be more important than being ready for that day, because it will determine whether you will spend eternity in heaven or in hell.

This judgment will be based on a person’s righteousness, which means to be absolutely perfect and without sin. The Bible says in Acts 17:31, “He hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained…” The man spoken of in this verse is Jesus Christ. This means that your righteousness must match that of Jesus Christ. Can you make it through your entire life without committing one single sin? Jesus Christ did, and He is the one that you will be compared with at your judgment.

On the cross, Jesus took your sin upon Himself. He died a death that you deserve to die and paid the debt that you owe to God. He paid it in full. But you must place your faith and trust in Him if you want to take advantage of that great gift and be free from sin and the punishment of sin forever. Here is how you can do that today.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Jesus Christ: fully-God and fully-man, without sin, died on the cross a death that he did not deserve in your place. Three days later he rose from the dead defeating sin, death, and the devil forever.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

God requires you to repent of your sin (a change of mind toward God, sin, and self) and put your faith in Jesus Christ alone.

Realize your good deeds will not save you.. that is what religion teaches; the outward appearance. God looks on the heart.

..for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

You cannot bribe a Holy God with good works or sacraments.

Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. John 14:6

Ye must be born again. John 3:7

Jesus paid the price for your sins, will you accept or reject Him?

My Friend: I am asking you the most important question of life. Your joy or your sorrow for all eternity

depends upon your answer. The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if

you are a church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die?

God says in order to go to Heaven, you must be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be

born again.”

In the Bible God gives us the plan of how to be born again which means to be saved. His plan is simple! You

can be saved today. How?

First, my friend, you must realize you are a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”

(Romans 3:23).

Because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. “For the wages [payment] of sin is death” (Romans

6:23). This includes eternal separation from God in Hell.

“ . . . it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

But God loved you so much He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place.

“ . . . He hath made Him [Jesus, Who knew no sin] to be sin for us . . . that we might be made the righteousness

of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Jesus had to shed His blood and die. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Lev. 17:11). “ . . . without

shedding of blood is no remission [pardon]” (Hebrews 9:22).

“ . . . God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

(Romans 5:8).

Although we cannot understand how, God said my sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our

place. He became our substitute. It is true. God cannot lie.

My friend, “God . . . commandeth all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30). This repentance is a change of

mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the Cross.

In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas: “ . . . ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they

said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . . .’ ”

Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God

resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is

received as Savior.

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe

on His name” (John 1:12).

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

Whosoever includes you. Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can, but shall be saved.

Surely, you realize you are a sinner. Right now, wherever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer.

In Luke 18:13, the sinner prayed: “God be merciful to me a sinner.” Just pray: “Oh God, I know I am a sinner.

I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the Cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and

resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift

of salvation and everlasting life, because of Your merciful grace. Amen.”

Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no

lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!

God’s simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your

place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you

receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.

You say, “Surely, it cannot be that simple.” Yes, that simple! It is scriptural. It is God’s plan. My friend, believe

on Jesus and receive Him as Savior today.

If His plan is not perfectly clear, read this tract over and over, without laying it down, until you understand

it. Your soul is worth more than all the world.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

Be sure you are saved. If you lose your soul, you miss Heaven and lose all. Please! Let God save you this very

moment.

God’s power will save you, keep you saved, and enable you to live a victorious Christian life. “There hath no

temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted

above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1

Corinthians 10:13).

Do not trust your feelings. They change. Stand on God’s promises. They never change. After you are saved,

there are three things to practice daily for spiritual growth:

Pray -- you talk to God.

Read your Bible -- God talks to you.

Witness -- you talk for God.

You should be baptized in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ as a public testimony of your salvation, and

then unite with a Bible-believing church without delay. “Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of

our Lord . . . .” (2 Timothy 1:8)

“Whosoever therefore shall confess [testify of] Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which

is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32).

This is due to the expired film. I did not manipulate the color on any of these

"repent"

The act of apologizing has become extremely misconstrued. Saying "I'm sorry" does not absolve you of guilt, it merely acknowledges a mistake. Instead of confessing in order to have your moral slate wiped clean, one should attempt to recalibrate their moral compass to guide them away from past mistakes. We need the weight of our own injustices to be reminded of who we don't want to be. Without truly embracing the gravity of our past transgressions, we cannot truly reform ourselves accordingly.

Y enseño a mi gente,

Me miró.

Found this small church on my way through a one horse town (I believe the human population is less than 50). Had to ponder the crenellation as if the church were waiting for a battle with the devil himself. More interesting is the yield sign - perhaps a reminder to those on their way down that it's never too late to repent and head up instead..
