Although this photograph comes across as busy, in result of the texture of the leaves in the trees. I find I have used the environment to my advantage to create an aesthetically pleasing, pictorial image, where the trees frame the main focuses in the photo. The best part of this images, is how two most famous features of London, are highlighted by the trees. With the 'London eye' in the central location of they image, whilst 'Big Ben' and ' the houses of parliament' revealed slightly in the bottom right hand corner of the photo. I have Noticed how the texture and tones give the tree a 3D affect, however this cause the structures in the background look very flat, very much like a photo frame.
Aside from that I also believe that due to the separation between ' the London eye' and ' Big Ben' its an almost panoramic feel. This panoramic feel of the 'London eye' relates to the work of Nobuyuki Taguchi, who has a very interesting image which seems panoramic , and is very unique due to the positioning of the camera. Lastly I am pleased with this image and happy with the turn out, although it may come across as cluttered and busy.
The title relates to the late sixteenth or early seventeenth-century song of lost love, ‘Willow Song’, by an anonymous composer and used, with alterations, by Shakespeare in Othello. Dr Warwick Edwards of Glasgow University has commented on the passage of music at the bottom as follows:
'The source... is probably W. Chappell, Popular Music of the Olden Time, 1855– 9, i, 207–8 (or Woolridge's revision of this, 1893). The extract begins at the upbeat to bar 11 and the words are from the 2nd. stanza. The text has been modified. (“she” for “he”) and “improved” (e.g. “my garland must be” for “must be my garland”).
‘Chappell's source is BM Add MS 15117, f.18 (before 1616), a setting for voice and lute of the famous Willow Song beginning “The poor soul sat sighing”. He has transposed the melody, modified it, and supplied a 19th century harmonization.
Alexander Ballard has suggested (letter to the compiler of 10 July 1975) that the face of the young man is that of Norman Wilkinson ‘of Four Oaks’ (1882–1937), the painter and stage designer, who studied at the Birmingham College of Art from 1900–1902 where he met Maxwell Armfield, with whom he went to Paris in 1902 where they shared a studio. Armfield and Wilkinson were particularly close friends until about 1910. Armfield painted a portrait of Wilkinson in watercolours in Paris in 1904 .

The first accounts relating to Meleto date back to the eleventh century, at which time it was a property of the Benedictine monks. Subsequently it became the property of a certain “Guardellotto”, a member of a local feudal family, whom Frederick I Barbarossa dispossessed of his properties, giving them to the Ricasoli-Firidolfi family.
The family branch of Firidolfi da Meleto originated here. The name “Meleto in Chianti” was first included in the “Libro degli Estimi” (Book of surveying) of the Florentine Guelphs as property of Firidolfi family in 1256.
Its location, set between the Republics of Siena and Florence, ensured that the Castle was the background of many wars between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines, one of which was the second Aragonese invasion of Chianti in 1478 when it was occupied by enemy troops, and during the Medici War, in 1529, when it was besieged by the Senesi militia. Every year, Realtors® Care Day offers a helping hand to homeowners in need by providing exterior home repairs and adaptive safety modifications. Regional Habitat for Humanity chapters, the City of Charlotte, and other housing partners identify homeowners who qualify for the program.
Last month, realtors and City of Charlotte Code Enforcement volunteers joined forces to make a meaningful difference in Charlotte neighborhoods. They performed various tasks such as cleaning gutters, landscaping, repairing stairs, and enhancing exterior areas. We express our gratitude for their hard work and dedication.

Exploring the condractitory relationship between led (processed) and hesian (natural).
The led is heavy, strong, masculine but soft. He is passive and is a push over. He is dominated by the feminine, natural and flexible hesian, who is scratchy, violent and dominant.
The hesian is a violent girlfriend.
The interaction between these two leaves the led beaten and bruised.
When the led rolls over from side to side and makes contact with the hesian he is left with surface damage of varying degrees. In the photo on the left the led is pictured ontop of hesian, but still the hesian is stronger and more dominant.

“My feminism relates to my everyday life, my activism, my interpersonal relationships, my scholarship, and the world around me. It recognizes that women come from all different backgrounds, taking into account race, class, ability, colonization, and trans*. It is a primary lens through which I look at the world.”
“I could not begin to try describe all the expansive and enriching impacts women’s actions have had on my life, nor could they be reduced to single moments. From trans women of colour in the media smashing the trans-misogynist patriarchy, to my female friends who consistently talk to me about sexism (mine and other’s), to the brilliant professors who gave me the language of feminism in my undergrad, to my grandmother teaching me about the meaning of women’s labour - the list goes on forever. I am indebted to so many fabulous women, who have, and continue help me grow as a man.”

Dante Gabriel Rossetti
Ink and graphite on paper
Gabriel’s drawing of Fanny Cornforth, Lady Lilith, relates to his poem ‘Eden’s Bower’. Gabriel conceived this as an origin story of the ‘femme fatale’. Lilith was Adam’s independent minded first wife who he replaced with Eve. In revenge, Lilith seduced and persuaded the serpent to tempt Eve. This led to expulsion from Eden’s bower and the fall of mankind.
Lilith says to the snake:
‘Would’st thou know the heart’s hope of Lilith?
(Sing Eden Bower!)
Then bring thou close thine head till it glisten
Along my breast, and lip me and listen’.*
Poetic Portraits
By the time they reached their 30s and 40s, the Rossettis’ work had won them financial security and growing fame. Christina became a celebrity after publishing Goblin Market and Other Poems in 1862, and William worked as a leading critic and editor alongside his civil service career. Gabriel found success away from the mainstream, displaying his work in alternative exhibition spaces and selling to private enthusiasts. He went on to lead a new avant-garde group even more influential than the Pre-Raphaelites: the aesthetic movement. This would change ideas, art and design around the world.
Gabriel’s portraits reflected the aesthetic movement’s ideals of ‘art for art’s sake’ and a new modern beauty. He adapted the likenesses of working-class women of unconventional appearance, notably model Alexa Wilding, into fantasies of enchanting femininity. Inspired by Renaissance portraiture and mythological texts, these sensual portraits suggested touch, sound and scent as well as vision. They emphasised the pleasure of form and colour, looking ahead to the abstract art of the following century.
The portraits were paired with poems, ‘double works of art’ where words question images and images question words. They reflected Gabriel’s complex thoughts around ‘Body’s Beauty’ and ‘Soul’s Beauty’.*
From the exhibition
The Rossettis: Radical Romantics
(April – September 2023)
A major exhibition devoted to the radical Rossetti generation
This exhibition follows the romance and radicalism of the Rossetti generation, through and beyond the Pre-Raphaelite years: Dante Gabriel, Christina and Elizabeth (née Siddal). Visitors will get to experience world-renowned works from their boundary-pushing careers.
The Rossettis’ approach to art, love and lifestyles are considered revolutionary, and this will be thoroughly explored in an immersive show, using spoken poetry, drawings, paintings, photography, design and more.
This is the first retrospective of Dante Gabriel Rossetti at Tate and the largest exhibition of his iconic pictures in two decades.
It will also be the most comprehensive exhibition of Elizabeth Siddal’s work for 30 years, featuring rare surviving watercolours and important drawings.
The Rossettis will take a fresh look at the fascinating myths surrounding the unconventional relationships between Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Elizabeth Siddal, Fanny Cornforth and Jane Morris.
