Happy Shocktober.
FYI, there's a flickr group called Shocktober, open only for the month of Halloween (October), and for images that could somehow relate to the darkness and mystery of the season, serious or comical.
If you want to post in it, you must join and then submit an image to be added by the administrator.
Take a look if interested.

Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:24,25

This open-air museum spans the Torre peninsula, Punta Herminia, O Acoroado and Cabal de Pradeira, over 47 ha, that is, occupying part of the limits of the area around the Tower (core zone). The sculptures are distributed in the green space that surrounds the Tower, in a very suggestive game of perspectives and in permanent dialogue with the monument itself. The theme chosen by the artists can be arranged around several thematic tracks:
The mythological stories that link the foundation of the Tower with Hercules himself or with the Celtic leader Breogán, whom 19th century historiography relates to the origin of the monument itself.
References to the world of the sea, navigation and routes, which tell us about that seafaring vocation that appears intrinsically linked to the past of the Galician people since the beginning of its history.
In this sculptural space, a series of pre-existing elements have been integrated, which are explained within their historical context by means of informative panels that spread the value they have within this place. Among them we can highlight: Monte dos Bicos, the Moro Cemetery and the beacons that help navigation. (Source: www.torredeherculesacoruna.com)
The Mists of Avalon is a 1983 historical fantasy novel by American writer Marion Zimmer Bradley, in which the author relates the Arthurian legends from the perspective of the female characters. The book follows the trajectory of Morgaine (Morgan le Fay), a priestess fighting to save her Celtic religion in a country where Christianity threatens to destroy the pagan way of life. The epic is focused on the lives of Morgaine, Gwenhwyfar (Guinevere), Viviane, Morgause, Igraine and other women of the Arthurian legend.

Oh, why can't I be what you need?
A new improved version of me
But I'm nothing so good, no, I'm nothing...
Just bones, a lonely ghost burning down songs
Of violence, of love, and of sorrow
I beg for just one more tomorrow!
Where you hold me down, fold me in
Deep deep deep in the heart of your sins
I'd break in two over you
I'd break in two and each piece of me dies
And only you can give the breath of life!
But you don't see me, you don't
Here I'm pinned between darkness and light
Bleached and blinded by these nights
Where I'm tossing and tortured till dawn
By you, visions of you, then you're gone
The shock bleeds the red from my face
When I hear someone's taken my place
How could love be so thoughtless, so cruel?
When all, all that I did was for you...
I'd break in two over you
I'd break in two and each piece of me dies
And only you can give the breath of life!
But you don't see me, you don't
I'd break in two over you
I'd break in two and each piece of me dies
And only you can give the breath of life!
But you don't see me, you don't
I'd break in two over you
I'd break in two over you
Over you
I'd break in two
I would break in two for you
Now you see me
Now you don't
Now you need me
Now you don't
Meet the "Great Golden Digger Wasp".
No, judging by it's name it is not a wasp that seeks out middle-aged men with a good salary and a hefty 401 K (RRSP) account, the name relates to it's colouration .... the head and thorax are covered in a layer of golden hairs ... and how it lays and provides for it's eggs.
These non-aggressive wasps feed mainly on plant nectar but as the name implies "dig" tunnels into areas of soft soil. The females will dig multiple tunnels and when out on their forays the females will capture insects and sting them which will paralyze the insect, not kill it. She will then take the paralyzed insect back to a tunnel, drag it inside and lay an egg on the still live but immobile insect. She will exit the tunnel and conceal the entrance. The egg will hatch and the larvae will have a source of food to develope over the fall and winter until it emerges next spring. Males emerge to breed with the females, females emerge and construct the tunnels for it's nesting activities, so the cycle can continue.
While capturing insects for her egg laying efforts, these wasps are often chased and stripped of their prey by birds, so the female is often searching for prey to use for her egg laying chores.

An early morning capture of the old Birchfield Garage/filling station in Much Wenlock, Shropshire, taken during a recent visit to the area.
The history of this site appears a bit sketchy; the middle pump has prices in Pence, which dates it post decimalisation of 1971. I’ve not found any reference as to when this forecourt ceased dispensing fuel and was left to the elements, perhaps it may have fallen into disuse once the requirement to dispense fuel in Litres was mandated in 1995; the pumps are all in imperial gallons.
I saw a post recently somewhere from someone purporting to be the owner, who stated that the garage to the side of the pumps is still in use and therefore asks that posts relating to the site not be tagged as abandoned.

From the Blue Album, AKA, the Magical Mystery Tour.
That was totally random. I was looking for a catchy name relating to the blue sky. I googled, "Blue Lyrics" and discovered that The Magical Mystery Tour was originally titled, "Blue". And, "The Fool On the Hill" somehow fit the photo. He is wearing the uniform: cotton shorts and T-shirt with cigarettes and 8 oz. of water in the pockets. This is what they wear when Search and Rescue bring them in.

The Swiss Way relates the history of Switzerland surrounded by a scenic landscape. The trail was constructed as a joint project of the cantons on the occasion of the 700th anniversary celebrations of the Confederation (1291-1991). It begins on the Rütli Meadow, where the Confederation was founded, and ends in Brunnen in the Swiss Expatriates Square (Platz der Auslandschweizer).
The Wallow Fire, named for the Bear Wallow Wilderness area where the fire originated, was a massive wildfire that started in the White Mountains near Alpine, Arizona on May 29, 2011. The fire eventually spread across the stateline into western New Mexico, United States.[2][3] By the time the fire was contained on July 8, it had consumed 538,049 acres (2,177 km2) of land, 522,642 acres (2,115 km2) in Arizona and 15,407 acres (62 km2) in New Mexico.[1]
The fire was started accidentally by two men who were camping. They cooperated with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges relating to mismanagement of their campfire.[4] In November, 2012 they were ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $3.7 million.[5][6]
The communities of Alpine,[1] Blue River, Greer, Nutrioso, Sunrise, Springerville, Eagar in Arizona,[7][8] and Luna in New Mexico were evacuated. In addition to other aircraft, a converted DC-10 Very Large Air Tanker ("VLAT"), capable of dropping up to 12,000 gallons of fire retardant in seconds, was deployed to help fight the fire.[9][10] On June 11, 2011, the leading edge of the fire advanced into Catron County, New Mexico.[11]
On June 12, evacuations were lifted for Eagar, Springerville and South Fork.[12] On June 14, the Wallow Fire became the largest fire in Arizona history, passing the Rodeo-Chediski Fire, which burned 732 square miles (1,900 km2) in 2002. On June 18 and 20, evacuations were lifted for Alpine[13] and Greer[14] and on June 21, the evacuation for Luna, NM was lifted.[15] Additionally, the Apache National Forest was closed to the public.[16]
On July 3, the fire was 95% contained. The Wallow Fire was declared 100% contained as of 6 p.m., July 8.[1]
Four commercial buildings were destroyed; 36 outbuildings were destroyed and one damaged; 32 residences were destroyed and 5 damaged. The estimated cost was $109 million.

Still in my garden.
Scam or mistake - you decide! This relates to copyright accusation (libellous) on my original photo 'G'Day' of this same flower on my photostream where someone is trying to claim it as theirs.
This photograph here is also of the same flower, taken as the EXIF data shows - exactly 2 and a half minutes after the first, but from a slightly different angle.
Did the person alleging copyright breach take this one also? If they think someone with a 90% sight loss is an easy touch - that would be a mistake.
I have also added on my photostream a photo of the same flower *G'Day 2* taken just now after the accusation with the same yellow dogwood and rose leaves. In this one the dahlia is looking tired.
You can see the original accusation and my responses on my original photo here.

Raven hair and ruby lips
Sparks fly from her fingertips
Echoed voices in the night
She's a restless spirit on an endless flight
Woo-hoo, witchy woman
See how high she flies
Woo-hoo, witchy woman
She got the moon in her eyes
She held me spellbound in the night
Dancing shadows and firelight
Crazy laughter in another room
And she drove herself to madness with a silver spoon
Woo-hoo, witchy woman
See how high she flies
Woo-hoo, witchy woman
She got the moon in her eyes
Well, I know you want a lover
Let me tell you, brother
She's been sleepin' in the Devil's bed
And there's some rumors going 'round
Someone's underground
She can rock you in the nighttime 'til your skin turns red
- Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily. Life is but a dream!
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I relate to that, life is wonderful!
And, yes - I can see that it's not a row boat 😁
It's not like I chose this
I was not given a choice
In a room full of stories
Mine is just another voice
How does she do it?
Without making any sound?
I cry after hours
And scream when no one is around
Here comes a battle
Here's another uphill climb
So strap on some courage
You should be well prepared this time
Just because I'm still standing
Just because I have survived
Doesn't mean I don't get scared
Or wanna give up every time
Cause I don't feel like being strong today
I wanna fall apart sometimes
I wanna break
Next time they ask I'll tell the truth and I'll say
That I'm not ok
That I'm not ok
I don't feel like carrying all this weight
Or being broken around those who can't relate
Next time they ask I'll tell the truth and I'll say
That I'm not ok
That I'm not...
God gives his toughest
Battles to his strongest ones
Built out of courage
In the image of his only son
And I am a soldier
I can take the whole world on
So watch as I fight this
And give your praise once I have won..................
"Chains"
With her wine-stained lips, yeah, she nothing but trouble
Cold to the touch but she's warm as a devil
I gave her my heart but she wanted my soul
She takes 'til I break and I can't get more
You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love
But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love
You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love
But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love
Tryna break the chains but the chains only break me
(Hey-ey-ey-ey, hey-ey-ey-ey, hey-ey-ey-ey, hey-ey-ey-ey)
Tryna break the chains but the chains only break me
Alone in the night 'til she knocks on my door
Oh no, wasted again but I can't say no (no)
Baby tell me why, why you do, do me wrong
Baby tell me why, why you do, do me wrong
Gave you my heart but you took my soul
You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love
But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love
You got me in chains, you got me in chains for your love
But I wouldn't change, no, I wouldn't change this love
Tryna break the chains but the chains only break me

I am adding this a little late into the posting but time was taken from me unexpectedly earlier… I wished to relate what spoke to me when I came across these beauties. When I walked upon the scene I saw the flowers first ..then the chains that held them all together. The correlation for me was the beauty in the softness of the petals the flourishing while being held close by the strength of the chains. No restrictions but more like loving boundaries, shelter, guidelines yet freedom to grow to express….someone loving you enough to say .. This is where I need you .. I wish you close. They also, spoke to me of a deep relationship, a trust that some can never understand, a bond that transcends. Smiles … that is just me.. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder ..we all know that!!!

There are many rumors about the ship's origins and how it got stranded on the beach. Most relate that the ship was used to smuggle cigarettes between Turkey and Italy. She was seized by the port authorities of Gythio and then deliberately released from the port and left to be dragged by the sea to the beach at Valtaki, about 5 kilometres (2.7 nmi; 3.1 mi) from the port of Gythio. She was then set on fire to hide the evidence of cigarette smuggling. Another, less common rumor speaks of a ghost ship of unknown origins.
The River Ver in Hertfordshire is a chalk stream and has cut, modestly I should say, into the surrounding limestone - just enough to create a path through the Chiltern Hills, and enough for the Romans to build a road here connecting London with the North. The history of the village of Markyate is entirely shaped by this road (and its successors) and all the functions relating to the transport of goods and people. Some houses such as these ones in the foreground have crept up the flanks of the river ("Pickford Hill" in this case), but most stayed down in the valley ground. Up on the hills you would find farms and agriculture. It is also true that small industries have moved in - together with lots of interesting people who decided to leave the big city.

Sânziene, is an annual festival in the fairies' honor. Etymologically, the name comes from the Latin Sancta Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt and moon, also celebrated in Roman Dacia (ancient Romania)
People in the western Carpathian Mountains celebrate the Sânziene holiday annually, on June 24. This is similar to the Swedish Midsummer holiday, and is believed to be a pagan celebration of the summer solstice in June. According to the official position of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the customs actually relate to the celebration of Saint John the Baptist's Nativity, which also happens on June 24.
Talking can help you think differently about diabetes. Relating to other people with diabetes could bring positive changes and help you work through daily challenges, like diet and exercising.
If you have pre-diabetes or diabetes, self-testing your blood sugar (blood glucose) can be an important tool in managing your diabetes and preventing complications. I had pre-diabetes last year; talking and asking helped me a lot. For those that never saw a lancet before, here a little info about them.
"Lancets are small needle-like medical supplies. With a lancet, you can make a tiny prick in your skin to obtain a few drops of blood for testing in a diabetic monitor. Lancing devices are used with lancets. Most have a spring action that allows the lancet to move quickly enough to pierce the skin."
