Happy Monday ... yes, it's all about perspective ... and lately Mondays haven't been so bad. :-)
Recently attended a photography workshop at the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, Florida. The rookery was alive with birds ... courting, preening, mating, sitting on eggs, taking care of their young, and warding off intruders as the living quarters are seemingly as packed as they are in South Florida. LOL
I'm always quite impressed with the beauty exhibited by the roseate spoonbills. All birds reach striking colors in their breeding plumage and the spoonies are no exception. In the shadows of the tree canopy, a lone roseate was captured delicately preening itself as it bathed in the water and basked in the light filtering through. A gorgeous reflective image was also captured. It was so captivating that I could almost (I repeat almost) forget about the no-see-ums that were making their presence known to us as well.
Hope that all is well with everyone. Don't know how, but I seem to be busier than ever lately. Thanks for stopping by to view and especially for sharing your thoughts and comments.

How long shall we remain as wavy reflections,
imitators of our own jacket’s frown? Who shall awaken first?

Reflective World Series July 2010 - #1
I was sitting on the sofa looking out through the sliding doors which opened out onto the garden with small trees around the edge. One of the sliding doors picked up the reflection from inside the living room of a red placemat draped on a ledge (usually coveted by one of the cats)

I really like the reflection of this shed into the canal... If I owned this I would sit down by the waterfront all the time, just watching the Kingfishers dart around.

The Pond at Anderson Creek Park, Harnett County, NC. I had a great day there with my family playing Frisbee Golf and taking a little walk. This park is one of the hidden nuggets near Campbell University.

Another quick HDR project
A total of 3 exposures in aperture-priority mode were needed to capture a representational tonal range of the existing late afternoon shades across this whole scene. The light here was beautiful as seen in the center part of this photo.
Just a series of soft settings in Tone Mapping were needed to get the natural shot back from the three exposures. I used three different Adjustment Layers with very slight settings for fine-tuning in PS: Color Balance, Brightness/Contrast and Selective Color.

Cool sharpening by accident
Sharpening was done with this new accidental trick of mine I am going to use more often. Here's how I get a much nicer sharpening throughout the scene: by using the high-pass filter with a value approximately one pixel in Vivid Light layer mode I locally painted out irrelevant portions from the accompanying layer mask to enhance sharpness where needed.
This photo shows a part of Kumar Mangalam Park (KMP), Durgapur. This is a very large park ( in area) full of greeneries and woods. Its a good place for couples and also a great place to hang out with friends in big groups.
I love this place. Had some wonderful time with friends here. I miss those beautiful days of my life :(.
