National September 11 Memorial Mission Statement
Remember and honor the thousands of innocent men, women, and children murdered by terrorists in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001.
Respect this place made sacred through tragic loss.
Recognize the endurance of those who survived, the courage of those who risked their lives to save others, and the compassion of all who supported us in our darkest hours.
May the lives remembered, the deeds recognized, and the spirit reawakened be eternal beacons, which reaffirm respect for life, strengthen our resolve to preserve freedom, and inspire an end to hatred, ignorance, and intolerance.
The golden reflection of the setting sun coming off the dark clouds was all around me. It was amazing!

"Reflecting Absence" is the name of architect Michael Arad's design for the National September 11 Memorial on the World Trade Center site. The main visual anchors of the project are two large square pools marking where the the twin towers once stood. A cascade of water all around the granite-clad perimeter of each square feeds the pools with a continuous stream. The water vanishes into a seemingly bottomless void at the center of each pool. The above picture shows the south pool, the former site of 2 World Trade Center.

Everything seems to be a little chaotic at the moment, and the dark evenings mean I can't get out after work.
I had a full week off work last week, with no plans except to get out with the camera and it already seems a long time ago!
Anyway, this is a shot from last week, of the waterlogged heath at Studland. Somewhere in this picture, the sky meets the water!
Here's another 'reflected bird' from my archive - it's the coot, a well know waterbird in the Netherlands.
The head is way more black than the rest of its body, but that's normal. Note the red eye!

Bellevue Hall mansion commands a grand view of this historic estate, and its present form reflects alterations made by William du Pont, Jr. Mr. du Pont surrounded his home with the finest facilities: tennis courts, equestrian stables, gardens, and a picturesque pond, amid woodlands and fields overlooking the Delaware River. The park was acquired by the State of Delaware in 1976.
The Delaware Division of Parks and Recreation has retained the historic charm of Bellevue while providing many opportunities for recreation. Walking and jogging are popular activities at any time of the year. A 1-1/8 mile fitness track circles a catch-and-release fishing pond stocked with bass, catfish, and sunfish, while the nearby exercise trail offers a refreshing workout. Hiking trails allow you to explore other parts of the estate. If you prefer cycling, both paved and unpaved paths lead you on a leisurely tour.

Financial Planning: Knowing how to save money by bouncing one light to make it look like multiple lights. :D
For outtake photos and info about the lighting setup check out my blog.
Strobist: Since Im using cont. lighting the output on power wasn't adjustable so I had to use it from behind to balance out the lighting. I placed the dime on the silver reflection card, this will reflect the blue background. Then I used another silver reflector to bounce the light from the right to the left the onto the object as a main light. This help drop the power level from the cont. lighting source. Finally to give the coin some pop, I used a red gel for edge lighting. I angled it so that it doesn't bleed into the reflected floor. All these colors from a single light source.. :D

On Easter Monday, 28 March 2016 Dublin City Council commemorated the 1916 Rising with a day of history and more at Smithfield Square.
The popular ‘Dublin Remembers’ Learning Bus was there, alongside a large mobile library and a replica vintage ambulance. Dublin City Public Libraries, Dublin Fire Brigade and Dublin UNESCO City of Literature staff were there promoting Dublin City Council’s 1916 centenary programme. They were joined by re-enactors and historians who answered questions on the Rising and Dublin 100 years ago. Lia Mills, author of Fallen, the "Dublin: One City One Book" choice for this year, was there to talk about writing the book which is set in Dublin in 1915-16.
