Macro slide - fits the bill for "Monochrome", "Low key", Photography Gear", and "Measurement" and just about fits into the Category "Less than an Inch"
One of Louis XIV's grand entrance(s) to the palace of Versailles. RE-worked in post to adjust in colour, contrast and more importantly, perspective.
Louis XIV chose the sun as his emblem (Look to the clock at the peak of the main entrance). The sun was associated with Apollo, god of peace and arts, and was also the heavenly body which gave life to all things, regulating everything as it rose and set. Like Apollo, the warrior-king Louis XIV brought peace, was a patron of the arts, and dispensed his bounty.
My idea is to take a photograph suitable for the end and beginning of a new year that also contains a message of good wishes. In the early morning taking a walk in the natural park of Monte Mario - Rome - I see the Pungitopo (Ruscus aculeatus). I pick up a small branch. In my small photo studio I use my composition remembering the following themes: High Key - Dutch Angle - Celebration - Spiky - Water.
A potboiler of a sky to go with the summer time heat that returned this week. 80 degrees at dawn and the humidity was dripping. Some relief we hope by next week. I usually use a grad filter on this kind of shot to bring out the foreground but this is as it was straight out of the camera. The dark in the foreground is green cotton. Have a large Friday and thanks for the look.

Aside from just bringing forward an favorite old picture, I've adjusted tones, lightened things up, cropped the telephone pole, removed the large copyright watermark.

I was able to use an immersion blender this time to make this so it came out so much more beautiful than the first time I made this which is something I was always unhappy with - so the redux!

Just booked a return visit to Belize in April...looking forward to getting back to this amazing country!
With the arborists at work, a section of tree allows hours of fun at the macro level... Here's where it broke away as they were cutting it, hence a chance to revisit the June 26 theme Broken
DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It was a nice day, so I walked from lower Manhattan to Brooklyn where can clearly see the Empire State Building in the crosshairs of the the bridge's abutment.
The Manhattan Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses the East River in New York City, connecting Lower Manhattan at Canal Street with Downtown Brooklyn at the Flatbush Avenue Extension. The main span is 1,470 ft (448 m) long, with the suspension cables being 3,224 ft (983 m) long. The bridge's total length is 6,855 ft (2,089 m). This is one of four toll-free bridges spanning the East River; the other three are the Queensboro, Brooklyn, and Williamsburg Bridges.
The bridge opened to traffic on December 31, 1909. It was designed by Leon Moisseiff, and is noted for its innovative design. As the first suspension bridge to employ Josef Melan's deflection theory for the stiffening of its deck, it is considered to be the forerunner of modern suspension bridges and this design served as the model for many of the long-span suspension bridges built in the first half of the twentieth century.

The #MacroMondays #Redux Theme - Festive Season
This portrait of Santa is a macro of the centrepiece of our 2022 Christmas Cake, created by my very dear and talented wife. The whole cake is a shot along on my photostream. All is edible, apart from his specs. Must remember that.
The photo was taken as shown, window lit, using a 12mm extension tube. Red and green colour channels were boosted and a vignette and a colourful background added
Merry Christmas and HMM to all

Venus Rising - Redux
This is a re-edit of a photo from a year ago. Venus, the bright object in the sky that looks like a star and casting light on the ocean, was rising along side the Galactic Center of the Milky Way early last year. I wasn't happy with the original edit, it had some color balancing I didn't like and some blend problems. My goal was to re-do the color balance so it was more natural but the natural colored sky in this shot was a pale brown-orange due to light pollution to the south, so I cooled it down again and made it blue. Not quite the real color but it looks a whole lot more pleasing and dramatic. I'm still not 100% happy with it, maybe I'll edit it again in another year...

In 1955 , the 'capless' flash bulb was introduced by the Philips company (from the Netherlands) . An adapter was necessary to make it possible to use these cheaper bulbs in flasholders with a so-called 'bayonet fitting' .

I recently inadvertently deleted many recent photos from my photostream. I've been trying to retrieve as many of them as I could - it hasn't been easy... Like this one, I've marked the 'deleted' photos as 'redux'. I lost all of the information that goes with a photo, including the faves and comments I received. I'm merely putting them back in my photostream so they are not lost forever. I've turned off the comments for each of them.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE
Heart Hill - Redux
After 3 years of more experience and updated software I took a look at this image again and revised it into a monochrome.

Heart Hill lies on the property of the Niner Winery along side of Highway 46 in the middle of the Paso Robles Wine country in the Central Coast of California. In 2013 Paso Robles was chosen one of the best wine regions of the world. Oak Trees form the "Heart" which can only be seen from a certain angles.
