What a great fun challenge for the end of the year :)

This time we had to put two themes out of 2021 together into one image. So many ideas and choices. Should i go for another little world scene or something different without the tiny helpers ? I decided to take #Bottle(s) and #Five for my participation. Well it almost has gotten a Trio since i could add #Behindtheglass as well for this Shot. Or maybe #Holes and #sidelit - you decide :)

The year almost has ended and i would like to thank all of you who are Part of this amazing group. The members who share week after week their great images as well as the moderators who are doing an fantastic job to keep this group alive with such great themes.

Thank you to all of you. You are an inspiration for me!

The theme for Macro Mondays for 12/28 is redux- choosing one of the year’s weekly themes to revisit. This actually hits 3 of the 51 themes for this year -- translucent, glass, and circle within a square (squared circle). It was achieved by shooting down into a lighted translucent bottle.

After spending two minutes bathing, this starling was sopping wet when it gave a couple of quick shakes of its tail feathers before heading off. This resulted in a display of water droplets flying through the air, highlighted by the low sun.

When sitting in my family room I have a good view of my bird bath and whilst this photo is of a single bird, I have counted up to nine birds on my bird bath - some in the water and some standing on the edge waiting their turn.

What is this

There are three themes in my photo and yet only one is visible - the curves. But what is so curvy there?

It is a wooden hemisphere made of fine Swiss stone pine wood which can be sprinkled with scented oils, they provide a fresh fragrance in the room.

My choice fore Redux 2020 is the "zipper" theme. We had this theme in the early month january.

2020 is almost gone and we look back on such a dramatic year! I lost two beloved family members but we have to carry on and get back on track of life!!

Macro Mondays is an anker in my life where i can calm down and enjoy my passion for photography!

I would like to thank all of you for letting me be part of this great community. My best wishes are going out to all of you and your family! Stay strong and healthy! We see us next year :)

My favorite theme of 2017 was "members choice - inspired by a song" and this time I've chosen the song "Tumbling dice" by Rolling Stones.

Just doing a few updates. I used the Pixelmator App tools to emphasize some intricate textures and do some lightening/darkening. The old post is still intact. Thanks to so many friends who have stuck with me all this time that I have been on Flickr.

CSX loaded ethanol train K443 is in full braking as they quite literally squeeze through the Cumberland Plateau on their way south towards Chattanooga, Tn, on the former Nashville Chattanooga and Saint Louis Railroad. The virtually inaccessible cuts on this portion of the railroad provide one of the all time great shows of mountain railroading hands down. Trains such as this K443 require two extra manned 4400 horsepower motors to shove them over the grade. Heavy northbound trains also require a manned helper up the slope. Through the use of "Helperlink" technology the helper engines can cut off from the rear of the train on the fly, and not cause the heavy loaded trains to stop on a steep grade to decouple the two helper locomotives.
