Macro Mondays theme:REDUX 2018
It is hard to choose a favorite theme so I combined a few in one photo.
February 12: In a Bottle
April 9: Circles
May 7: Jagged
May 14: Low Key
September 17: Cogwheel
Here's one of my favorite Pacific Northwest birds. They're bright and fun and silly, and I love their plumage.
I already posted a different crop and Lightroom treatment of this shot. It bugged me every time I looked at it, because all the detail in the plumage was lost to shadow. So I redid it.
I was hopeful for a repeat of my train less shot at Indian but with a train this time, While I did get a train the clouds had moved in and it was no where near as nice as the shot I posted a couple of nights ago without the train.
So here is a repost, and one that i've been meaning to re-process for a long while. I gave it a re=process employing my latest vision, and this is what i came up with, for a good comparison, see here.
PROCESSING
- Original file used
- Applied curves, and a Soft Screen blur Layer.
- Border applied in GIMP

THAT picture was inspired by my all time favorite Ansel Adams' image: "Clearing Winter Storm."
shop.anseladams.com/Clearing_Winter_Storm_p/1502014.htm
I decided to reedit because, frankly, making it monochrome didn't really do anything. I mean, no snow, no clouds, no clearing storm. But most importantly, no Ansel at the camera.
This is your classic snapshot from the Tunnel View viewpoint. Nothing more.

I revisited this spot to see if the cliff carving was still there ... nine month's worth of wind and rain have changed it considerably - much of the detail in the hair and face has eroded away. To my surprise, there has been an added feature that I wasn't expecting and didn't notice until I compared the photos. (See first comment box for comparison.) I fear that she/he won't last long at this rate and the cliff face is falling into the ocean as well so she/he may go in a hurry?
Kudos to the unknown carver!
Praia Aguda, Portugal
I found this cicada abdomen some time ago in my yard. The sound organs (tymbals) gave it a spooky skull/alien look. Happy Macro Mondays, and Happy Holidays!
A submission to Macro Mondays on the topic "Redux 2022", i.e. a recent image on one of the topics from 2022. This one is "pink". The River rose (Bauera rubioides) is a small Australian wildflower, seen here in Manly Dam, near my home.

"Redux" means I'm revisiting selected pics from a previous series, in order to bring them some personal attention in the post processing that they missed the first time around. In this case, a slightly more landscapey crop, a touch of HDR-like treatment via Photoshop Shadows and Highlights filter, some noise reduction, and some warming filter.
The Importance of Inuksuit
Many Inuit retain strong attachments to inuksuit believed to have been built by their ancestors. Some of the old inuksuit are mentioned in Aya-yait, the traveling songs passed from one generation to the next to help travelers remember a series of directions for long trips.

I had not checked this week's theme until Monday morning. Figured there would be something on the tree to fit. Sure enough!
CNM Redux … a little later in the day, the blue hour is in full swing.

Macro Mondays - Redux 2017 - My Favorite Theme of the Year
I chose to use the theme from August 28: Member's Choice: Abstract Macro. I was busy during the summer and did not get a chance to participate that week. My wife and I are currently volunteering in Dinuba, California and I found a dead owl while walking in the citrus orchards. This is a macro of some of the feathers on the owl. If you look closely, you can see bits of decomposed granite stuck to the feathers. HMM and Happy New Year!
I recently inadvertently deleted many photos from my photostream. I've been trying to retrieve as many of them as I could - it hasn't been easy... Like this one, I've marked the 'deleted' photos as 'redux'. I lost all of the information that goes with a photo, including the faves and comments I received. I'm merely putting them back in my photostream so they are not lost forever. I've turned off the comments for each of them.
This is an old image from 2010 that I've re-processed into a duotone for an art project I'm working on. I like the look!

Captured: Captree State Park, Oak Beach, NY.
Pictured here is an updated version of one of my favorite sunset captures... This is a view of Long Island's State Boat Channel Bridge at dusk, on an evening where the sky was full of radiant sunset colors.
Quick note about this drawbridge... The State Boat Bridge extends between Captree Island and Jones Beach Island, and is located along the Robert Moses Causeway.
This is the first of two bridges that connect the mainland to the ocean beaches in Robert Moses State Park. It also provides beach goers with access to the Fire Island Lighthouse, and the Captree boat basin.

"Skyfire (Redux)" is an HDR image constructed from 3 bracketed shots - 2 stop differential between each image.
Image processed w/ ACR, Photomatix, and finished in Photoshop (including the use of Topaz Labs plugins: Adjust, Clean, Denoise, Glow and LensFX).

Some bubbly for Christmas and the New Year. Snapped with a FA 50mm Macro. Redux 2020, using the December 7 theme: Celebration. HMM!
I've only been in the group for a short time, and this is a subject I missed. This is a small section of a huge and beautiful counted-cross stitch piece that my mom made for me a several Christmases ago.
In my Redux 2018 I tried to make a combination of:
February 12: In a Bottle
January 29: Flame
December 24: Holiday Bokeh
