I am SO happy with how my (near complete) IKEA bedroom turned out. Soon, I will add a nice sitting area by the window to overlook the garden. :)

Words fail me. It's just too beautiful.

during the 14+ years of working under the name elbow, i usually just stumble into something for my own identity.

spent some time this week working out something new.

I decided to make the family resemblance more obvious this time around.

I’ve rearranged my room again in the process of decluttering. I managed to do away with an entire 4x4 Expedit shelving unit. I’m quite proud of the way things look now. I feel that I’ve finally embraced my personal style instead of trying to make my things fit into a preordained image of what a good style is.

The Ricoh GRii is a compact digital point and shoot camera that is a redesign of the classic film cameras released by Ricoh in 1996. They were made famous by Daidō Moriyama the Japanese street photographer. Since then it has gone through many iterations and won several awards while staying faithful to the original cult classic and vintage design.

The Ricoh GRii has a fixed focal length that gives you a 28mm field of view (after crop factor). It has all the great functionality that you would take for granted with a professional DSLR, and is also packed full of great features that you would expect in any modern camera with extra goodies like an inbuilt ND filter (which you can set to auto) for those extra bright light situations when the maximum shutter speed of 1/4000 second won’t do, High Dynamic Range compensation for those high contrast situations that actually works. There is also interval and composite shooting modes, various prefocusing or “snap” modes that add extra punch to the focusing system and a whisper silent leaf shutter. And as you would expect, it’s extremely customisable.

When it comes to using the Ricoh GRii the menu although a nerds paradise is very intuitive to use. There is also a quick menu that allows you to get to all the functions you would need to change and adjust on the fly. It produces great DNG files that are rich in colour and crisp detail up to ISO 1600, the lens is super sharp at f4, and the controls are exactly where you would expect them, it’s an ergonomic dream.

The combination of great features and compact award winning design and a proven history of achievement, means you can shoot with something you know is reliable in any situation for capturing any subject of moment whether you are out with friends, or fancy a spot of macro. Where this camera really comes to life is street photography; as it offers precision with stealth. It’s a great little camera that you can always keep with you, and it’s great fun to use.

“Colossal Coastal Defense Robot”

My redesign of the Creator Set #4099 “Robobots.” Made using only parts included in the set, this redesign features loads of articulation, an attachable weapon, and a little boat for the robot to defend.

The robot’s articulation is comprised of:

-a rotating neck

-a 360 degree rotating waist

-movable shoulder panels

-movable back panels

-arms that move outwards, forwards, and backwards

-bendable elbows

-hands that move at the wrist

-fingers and thumbs that can open/close

-hips that move outwards, forwards, and backwards

-double jointed knees

-and ankles that move forward and backwards

He has a weapon that can be attached to either forearm.

The boat features little loading cranes that can be positioned, as well as a moving rudder.

I made my first pennant banner, and threw them over tables and chairs for a fun, cheery party! It was a blast on a budget!

We were asked to redesign the handle of some instrument or tool. I chose a drumstick, and created a sleeve which encourages the user to hold it in the common 'match grip' position.

Impact is a weekly magazine that analyses the developments of the week, provides fresh perspectives to the key happenings.

Impact felt that the magazine was going through a visual fatigue and came to VGC for a dire design overhaul. The content presentation needed to move towards a new-age look as from the existing.

VGC suggested that the magazine go beyond the position of a holistic advertising and marketing magazine and adopt a visionary approach of new age communication. A brand new vibrant and dynamic color palette was injected. The logo got a bright, more youthful look. Section names were revitalised and pictograms and icons were created. We also suggested feature and content changes to make the magazine more contemporary and future ready. The first issue after the revamp was designed by VGC which set the benchmark for all future issues.

A little diagram I built to explain to customers how the web redesign process works. I found that they were having a hard time understanding the steps between requesting a redesign and completing one.

So tweaked a few small things from the V1. Thoughts?

Just another little preview...

Consider that I've tried to design a homepage, which isn't a blog, but instead promotes me more like a "commodity".

Outdated kitchen gets a complete make over. Gone is the drop ceiling, beige cabinets, fake yellow brick backsplash, florescent lighting and short upper cabinets.
