This fox kit stalked and killed a candy wrapper right before my eyes. Skills it will surely need as he sets off on his own very soon.

Two red foxes sleeping in the sun on the 4th fairway of Webhannet golf course this afternoon. I had to wake this one up just to get it to look at me.

Series of ten. Lovely walk this morning in glorious sunshine at a local park. Thought I was lucky to see one fox and then its mate appeared and gave me the stare! Could not resist showing all of its run for cover.

Red fox taking groceries back to the den.

Today at 6:30 PM I see this beautiful fox trotting down our drive way. Occasionally he would pounce on something (or maybe it was a practice pounce). We live on the edge of town. This photo was taken through the window in my house with only an 85mm lens.

キタキツネ

The topic for this week's Illustration Friday is stitch. Rather than illustrate a stitch, I decided to put a stitch around the outside of my paper cutting. I think it gives it a nice frame, but my stitching is not straight at all! :)

I was out before the sun was up and spotted this fox at the bottom of the path. I watched him searching and sniffing the ground. I could not believe my luck as he ran up the path towards me. I was holding my breath as he came closer....and to my delight almost in front of me before realizing I was there. I am still amazed he did not see me!

(Rockland County, NY) I heard a yip outside so I turned around and saw this beautiful red fox out back. (I think his tail is mangy or maybe he was in a fight.) I then watched as it ran into a neighbor's yard and then turned back north where there are fewer houses. This is the second fox I have seen in the wild in my life. Very exciting.

Red Foxes, Vulpes vulpes. in the garden.

Here's the outline for my triptych of characters from "Redfox," the cheeky '80s B&W barbarian comic that gave Neil Gaiman one of his first (guest-) writing gigs. Clockwise from bottom right, we have: Redfox; Whitefox, her cloned sister; and the Demon Queen who possesses her.

Red Fox in back garden. London

This guy looked in superb condition, and posed quite happily for me. This was a total contrast to some photos Lynn had shown us of foxes with mange so emaciated it was difficult to believe it could be alive.

When you least expect it, expect it...

A wise photographer once said that you will never know when that opportunity will present itself to capture "the moment,” so you always have to be ready with the camera. This was one of those times when I least expected it, the moment presented itself, and I was ready. . While out looking for raptors, I happened upon a cute lil' kit fix. The light was perfect, the subject was there, and the camera was nearby. Bingo! While the moment passed quickly, it was special and memorable.
