The Sligachan bridge on a rainy morning. While waiting for the right moment we were treated by a few shower rains. All of a sudden, the sky turned red and created this magnificent view.

This is a six-meter flower border where I usually plant the same type of flower all the way along. After growing petunias for several years, I tried red, orange, and yellow osteospermums last year. This year, I’ve returned to petunias—nothing quite matches their charm. This time, they’re red.

While visiting the Mulheim wreck, I took the opportunity to photograph the "Long Ships Lighthouse" from Castle Zawn inlet - the resting place of the wreck.
This image is a composite of a few similar images taken on a tripod to include a interesting wave, sky, light (in the lighthouse), and birds together in the frame.

I photographed this Red-headed Barbet (Eubucco bourcierii) in Manizales, Caldas, Colombia on June 22, 2017. It lives in evergreen mountain forest and nearby secondary forest. It eats caterpillars and other insects as well as fruit such as berries, and at feeders it takes bananas. Males have a red head, an orange to yellow breast and a white belly, with a white collar between the head and the olive-green back. Manizales sits on the steep ridges of Colombia's Central Cordillera, near the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, which rises to 5,321 meters.
I took this with a Canon EOS 70D and the EF400mm f/5.6L USM, at 1/250 sec, f/5.6, ISO 1600. IUCN lists the Red-headed Barbet as Least Concern with a decreasing population, and the city of Manizales owns and protects forest fragments such as the Ecoparque Los Yarumos inside its urban area.

Seminal works by the celebrated British sculptor Anish Kapoor were showcased across the grounds and historic interiors of Houghton Hall in Norfolk for the exhibition "Anish Kapoor at Houghton Hall" (12 July – 1 November 2020).
The exhibition featured some of Kapoor’s major works in mirror and stone, including Sky Mirror (2018) – a 5-metre diameter mirror of stainless steel that reflects and transforms the space around it, turning the world upside down – and a series of carved marble sculptures created in 2001 – 2003 which were displayed across the grounds. A number of works were also shown inside the house, including a series of dramatic sandstone sculptures in the gallery spaces.

red hibiscus (rosemallow)
Macro shot of the pistil and stamens of a red perennial hibiscus. (Hibiscus, or rosemallow, is a large genus of about 200–220 species of flowering plants in the family Malvaceae)
I had the flu and hadn't been outside for awhile. I spotted this one tiny (smallest I've ever seen) hibiscus flower in the garden and snuck outside to shoot it.
The only post production was to crop my original photo.

The European red-rumped swallow (Cecropis rufula) is a small passerine bird in the swallow family Hirundinidae. It breeds in open hilly country of southern Europe and north Africa east to Iran, Pakistan and northwest India. During winter it migrates to Africa and southwest Asia. It was formerly considered to be a subspecies of the eastern red-rumped swallow (Cecropis daurica), united under the common name of “red-rumped swallow”.
European red-rumped swallows are somewhat similar in habits and appearance to the other aerial insectivores, such as the related swallows and the unrelated swifts (order Apodiformes). They have blue upperparts and dusky underparts.
They resemble barn swallows, but are darker below and have pale or reddish rumps, face and neck collar. They lack a breast band, but have black undertails. They are fast fliers and they swoop on insects while airborne. They have broad but pointed wings.
European red-rumped swallows build quarter-sphere nests with a tunnel entrance lined with mud collected in their beaks, and lay 3 to 6 eggs. They normally nest under cliff overhangs in their mountain homes, but will readily adapt to buildings such as mosques and bridges.
They do not normally form large breeding colonies, but are gregarious outside the breeding season. Many hundreds can be seen at a time on the plains of India.

It didn't look like there will be a spectacular sunset, but we still waited, ignoring the cop telling people almost 45 minutes before sunset that the beach is closed. Then all of a sudden the sun broke briefly through the clouds and as it disappeared painted the cloud and water of Biscayne Bay in a deep red. That's when the cop stopped behind us, a sure sign that it's our turn to leave now... I really had to bite my tongue not to say anything...
