The red-bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus) is a medium-sized woodpecker of the family Picidae. It breeds mainly in the eastern United States, ranging from Florida to Canada. Though it has a vivid orange-red crown and nape, it is not to be confused with the red-headed woodpecker.

I'm stuck in the house at the moment with a bad chest infection so thought I'd try an indoor flower shoot.
Getting the light right is the hardest part, I was either washing out the colours and textures or getting some very harsh shadows. In the end I went with a natural side light from moving closer to the window, but its still pretty harsh.
Now I know why people use/make full on light boxes and have 3000 flashes!
This vixen was amazingly habituated to people and visited our cottage most days, probably in hope of finding some tasty morsels left unattended.
I know I have posted these before but all of them look different to me. I so love the car wash....and yeah - i am anal and love a clean car.
