More than 700 Airmen assigned to Flights 488-502, receive their Airman’s coin during the 737th Training Group’s Coin and Retreat Ceremony, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, July 31, 2024. The ceremony is one of three U.S. Air Force Basic Military Training graduation events and signifies the transition from trainee to Airman. Lt. Col. Montreal based Erin Sexton returns for her second appearance at send + receive, bringing her fresh and energizing take on sound exploration. Sexton works with analog electronics, crystal oscillations, electromagnetic fields, and electro-chemical improvisation to create direct links between lived experience and the processes of nature, drawing us into contact with the micro-macro cosmos
Situated between alchemical ritual and lab experiment, Phase Space is an
audio/visual performance investigating the space where liquid, crystal, electricity, and flesh coincide. Finding its ground in experimental physics and embodied cosmology, Sexton aims to bridge the gap between theory and experience, intensifying wonder in the everyday.

Our 20th Anniversary festival was opened by guest of honour, Japanese legend Keiji Haino. Haino-san shared one of his rare and very special acoustic percussion events to open the festival at the beautiful Eckhardt Hall of the Winnipeg Art Gallery.
