"Considerando la meravigliosa complessità dell'universo, la sua strabiliante perfezione e il suo equilibrio tra materia, energia, gravità, tempo, dimensioni, io sono convinto che la nostra esistenza sia qualcosa di più di queste due filosofie, che quello che noi siamo vada oltre il sistema euclideo o gli altri sistemi pratici di misura e che la nostra esistenza sia parte di una realtà che va al di là di quella che noi, ora, concepiamo come realtà"

The word ‘virtual’, an adjective means nearly or almost and the word ‘reality’ is the state of things as they actually exist and what we experience as human beings. So the term virtual reality basically means ‘something or some experience that is near to the real thing’. This could mean anything ...

Pioneer Square is a neighborhood in the southwest corner of Downtown Seattle, Washington, USA. It was once the heart of the city: Seattle's founders settled there in 1852, following a brief six-month settlement at Alki Point on the far side of Elliott Bay. The early structures in the neighborhood were mostly wooden, and nearly all burned in the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. By the end of 1890, dozens of brick and stone buildings had been erected in their stead; to this day, the architectural character of the neighborhood derives from these late 19th century buildings, mostly examples of Richardsonian Romanesque.

This scene reminded me of a short story I wrote last year. Nobody has read it, yet. But reality already seems to play it... ;-)

So, the enormity of decorating a giant tree was sinking in yesterday. We had to get the big ladder out of the garage to reach the "betweens", that is, between ground access and balcony access. Then we didn't have enough lights to cover the branches, requiring extensive travels to the German versions of Home Depot. Where I found out that it would cost between 35-80 dollars for a strand of lights. We also had to purchase a power strip because German lights don't "piggyback", so each strand has to plug straight into the strip. They also come as loops, so we had to figure out how to work them around, then down to the power strip. I was thinking a degree in electrical engineering would be helpful!
