MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
It’s a great privilege and honour to share a few thoughts on the occasion of the “GAJABA SUPER CROSS 2010” which will be held at home of Gajaba, Saliyapura, Anuradhapura on 26th September 2010 for the ninth successive year. I indeed appreciate and proud to say that it had been a reality within a few weeks, due to the commitment and untiring efforts of the members of the Gajaba family.
The Gajaba Super Cross had been the most glamorous event of this magnitude in the North Central Province. Besides providing entertainment we have a few valuable objectives to achieve. To find much needed funds to improve the welfare facilities of serving able/disable soldiers including families of the soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the motherland, as well as to improve the infrastructure facilities at the Regimental Centre and to popularize motor racing sport in the North Central Province.
On be half of the Officers and men of the Gajaba Regiment, I would like to extend our sincere thanks, gratitude and appreciation to Commander of the Army for his blessings and guidance, without which it would not have been possible to make this motor racing event a reality. I also thank the patron and chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Committee for their assistance. My special appreciation to the President and the Officials of the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) for their prolific support, assistance and untiring efforts in organizing this event.
I also wish to sincerely thank all our sponsors, print and electronic media, all those who have joined to witness this event, all officers and other ranks of the Sri Lanka Army and other well wishes who supported in numerous ways to make this event success.
Finally, I wish all the competitors good luck and the very best and for all of you who have joined us on this memorable day of thrilling and exciting motor racing.

The reality of January is upon us. Usually the next two weeks are the hardest in regard to low, low temps, snow, ice...and beauty.
Caught a shot of my daughter and couldn't resist claiming artistic license with this one. She's texting at least 2 friends while watching videos on you tube. What you can't see is that she has a text book in her lap and she claims to be studying. When I express my concern, her response is "It's fine mom". Since she continues to be an A Honor Roll student, I'm taking her at her word but deep down I believe her view of this reality is distorted.
I was taking some photos at Gasworks Park when these two gentlemen just about waked by until they realized what I was doing. They stopped and talked a little bit about this game they were playing on their phones/tablets. It's an augmented reality where you collected points and achieve objectives by walking around your city. They asked for a shot as they walked by playing the AR, and this is what came of it.

Walking around Vietnam can sometimes be heartbreaking. Children can be seen on the streets panhandling for survival. This child was lying on a cart in Cholon, Ho Chi Minh City in a very vibrant street market. As I watched, I saw people walk, talk, and shop right by him, never glancing his way, like he didn't exist.

For his new project Skeleton, artist Caspar Berger (1965) has applied the most modern technologies in order to make the invisible visible. He had his body scanned in one of today’s most advanced CT scanners, and using a 3D printer made impressions of his entire skeleton. Under the name Skeleton he will cast all his bones in a variety of materials, using them in a series of works of art, constantly approaching the skeleton as a phenomenon in the history of art in different ways. It is after all our bones that long after our lifetime reveal something of who we were. With a scan, 3D prints and casts of his whole skeleton, Berger wishes to make the invisible three dimensionally palpable, thus holding on to the symbol of what awaits us after death.
“In Skeleton I dive beneath my skin, and by this beneath the carrier of our tangible identity. The opportunity provided by the latest technologies of holding a copy of my own skeleton does not only show how far advanced technology and medical science has become, but also gives me the chance of working with the very significant image that the skeleton represents. It confronts me not only with the symbol of death, but even more with the miraculous and unbelievable complexity of life. With this now tangible symbol in the form of a series of self-portraits I can study my own identity both in a physical and conceptual sense. In this way the skeleton serves not only as the physical carrier of our bodies but also as a metaphor for the spiritual miracle of life.”

January 2003 - January 2012. I used a bunch of weird differently weighted interfacing to applique the different layers because I didn't know what I was doing, really, so the washed/dried quilt wrinkled up in crazy but not totally undesirable ways.

an Augmented Reality Project intented to be used in chemistry lessons. Metadata like 3d molecule models, videos and further information can be projected onto little element cards. These cards can also be combined to perform virtual experiments. Hydrogen and Oxygen would melt to display H2O.

The project is still in development. Its a collaboration between the University of Arts Berlin and German schoolbook publisher Cornelsen.

Law Lab (AT) at the "Digital && Life Exhibition" at JKU.
The virtual courtroom could soon become a reality, according to the Law Lab of the Linz Institute of Technology (LIT). The technologies already available offer enormous potential for the rule of law. In the present, authorities and parties come together for oral proceedings. The projects themselves only know these from plans and in criminal trials, for example, photos or films of the crime scene are shown. The project “The Virtual Court. Reality.” shows the possibilities of how these hearings could be conducted in the future. Virtual reality technology makes it possible, for example, to participate without being tied to a specific location, to include digital sources, animations of project plans or the visualisation of expert forecasts or crime scenes using 360° technologies. But this is only a small sample of the options that virtual reality could implement. At the exhibition, visitors are immersed in a virtual court of the future. They find themselves as parties in a virtual courtroom and can stand up for their rights to experience the importance of new technologies for the rule of law with all their senses and at first hand.
