An unidentified Titan III-C (poss. veh. no. 3C-12) on the pad at LC-41, August 1966.

Although this photograph has been fairly widely published, I've found no solid identification of this Titan III-C, although multiple searches have yielded an associated date of 26 August 1966, that being the launch date of vehicle no. 3C-12.

If correct, per Wikipedia (and others):

"The fifth Titan III-C (August 26, 1966) failed shortly after launch when pieces of the payload fairing started breaking off. Around 80 seconds, the remainder of the shroud disintegrated, causing the Titan to pitch down at a sharp angle that resulted in one Solid Rocket Motor separating. The automatic Inadvertent Separation Destruction System (ISDS) activated and destroyed the entire launch vehicle, sending its cargo of eight Initial Defense Satellite Communication System (IDSCS) communications satellites into the Atlantic Ocean."

Pacific National's NP3 steel train, from Newcastle in NSW to Perth in Western Australia, is seen in late afternoon muted sunlight rolling into Goulburn NSW where it will do a crew change. NR18 was a nice surprise, particularly as it is the only one painted in the yellow version of GSR's Indian-Pacific passenger train livery. More so because it, along with the other passenger liveried locos, is shortly to be repainted into the standard PN stars paint scheme.

Early unidentified (possibly first?) partial Titan IIIC stack, circa 1965, with only the Solid Rocket Boosters (SRB) in place. More than likely Launch Complex 40, although I haven't ruled out 41.

The complete lack of any designation/emblem/lettering, launch 'tally', etc., on the concrete structure to the right would/might seem to indicate that this is the first 'anything' at this particular launch complex? The pristine appearance of the Umbilical Tower/Mast would support this being this being a first...likely (I think) the first Titan IIIC.

I'm ignorantly guessing this to be the same vehicle, simply based on the external appearance of SRB casings:

Just under 30 of these rail cars cover Buffalo's single light rail line running through Downtown Buffalo from the University of Buffalo campus. Originally used on fast "TV" trains the high-horse four axle GE has been relegated to powering a local. After a post-split stint on NS this unit went to Brazil where it recieved two sets of trucks (8 axles total!) for service down there.
