Behind me the road goes over a cliff and in front of me the road goes over a cliff. It felt surreal standing here and I had to crawl through brambles to be on this small, marooned piece of tarmac. I didn't hang about either, as the whole lot could collapse at any minute. The double yellow lines made me chuckle, as it would be impossible to get a car here now, unless it was airlifted in.
I tried to chase the setting sun as I travelled down the road outside Borghetto Di Vara, Italy. Every time I turned a corner, it seemed to get further away.
At the end of a photo-trip Sunday, my buddy and I were waiting at a remote railroad crossing for a train to finish passing. (Manitoba trains = slowest and longest.) The train looked old and tired, and after dragging its wheels for a few minutes it decided to stop, blocking the crossing. Dying to get back to the city after a long day, we decided to make a detour to avoid the wait. The detour gave us this scene that we wouldn't have seen had the train not stopped.
Better to be lucky than good.
The Road to Nowhere Tunnel in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Bryson City in Swain County, North Carolina.
Our very first day out on the road while cruising around the Faroe Islands - we stopped numerous times to take snaps like this.
This is the road that goes over Mam Torr down to Edale. I think it may even be improved by a tighter crop at the top - just can't decide.
This was hand held with a Nikon 24-70mm lens.

It's been half term this week. It hasn't been the best of weeks...
I feel like I've lost my photo mojo.
School has been stressing me out.
My head is full to bursting.
I just can't get my thoughts around anything right now.

The Wilting Tree
I found this tree while on a dirt road adventure in NE Oregon. I was running away from the storm, but was happy for the clouds because they are extremely cumulonimbus, which is great for photos! 3 minutes later I got drenched by some clouds you cannot see.
This is 20 photos stitched.

Original title: Dusty Road to Nowhere, Kansas
Taken near Oakley, Kansas on a gravel road leading to Monument Rocks, a 70 ft high chalk rock formation that stands isolated on the Kansas plains. The land around Oakley, Kansas is very flat with very few trees. So after spending 3 weeks there, I was excited when I finally found this shot up on a tiny hill.
Update on the name: I went ahead and googled "Road to Nowhere Kansas" only to find out that "The Road to Nowhere" is the nickname for the I-83 (just beyond the dusty horizon) connecting Canada to Mexico through a vast empty countryside and rural town after rural town no one has likely ever heard of before the name comes up on the sign for the next pitstop. So this photo has aptly been renamed from "Dusty Road to Nowhere" to "Dusty Road to (the Road to) Nowhere". www.roadtripusa.com/routes/roadtonowhere/roadtonowhere.html
