Sometimes barriers in life are those that we put in front of us. Maybe we need to take that 1st step and cross that threshold whether it’s a mental barrier or a simple puddle of water and take that journey beyond the horizon in front of us. Who knows what we could discover?
Taken along a very rural road in the middle of frankly nowhere. There was this narrow grove of trees that stretched out to the horizon surrounded by naked fields on all sides.
This speaks for itself.
My daughter liked this photo best of that evening's shoot.
Bring back the sunshine! I think it is on strike. It rained a little a few minutes after this photos was taken and much rain and dull weather since.

Road to nowhere
This is a light inside a parking garage. I put my camera on a tripod then I put it on a timer and set it inside the florescent light to get the one picture. The other pictures was taken on a snowy day on Sea to Sky Highway in BC Canada.

TOXIC
www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOZuxwVk7TU&feature=fvsr
Baby, can't you see, I'm calling
A guy like you should wear a warnin'
It's dangerous, I'm fallin'.
There's no escape, I can't wait...
I need a hit, baby give me it!
You're DANGEROUS, I'm LOVIN' it.
Too high, can't come down
Losing my head,
Spinning 'round and 'round
Do you feel me now?
With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride.
You're toxic, I'm slippin' under!
Taste of a poison paradise...
I'm addicted to you.
Don't you know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do.
Don't you know that you're toxic?
It's getting late to give you up.
I took a sip from my devil's cup...
Slowly, It's taking over me.

This is part of the Foreshore Freeway Bridge designed to bring traffic from the N2 into the Waterfront area of Cape Town. It was started in the early 1970s, but never finished. There is a similar hanging ramp where the bridge was supposed to join the N2.
The structure has become a tourist attraction and a location for film and fashion shoots. A similar feature in Birkenhead when the Conway Street flyover was partially demolished never received such glamorous attention!
Hiroshima, Japan
Our last morning in Hiroshima and I couldn't leave without a ride on one of the old trams. Don't know where it was going but just jumped on the first old looking one that came our way. Soon after I took this shot, she got off leaving Mrs R and myself as the only passengers on the road to nowhere or at least it's terminus.
West of Iqaluit, the road to the municipal dump cuts through a stark, snowbound landscape, where utility poles march across the tundra like sentinels of survival. Ice-crusted wires stretch into the pastel horizon, tracing the contours of human infrastructure against the silence of the land.
A lone structure anchors the distance, dwarfed by the vastness and light. In this image, the geometry of power lines meets the softness of Arctic dusk — a portrait of isolation, endurance, and the quiet choreography of northern life.

Somewhere on the Scottish mainland on the North West close above the Isle of Mull, Scotland. Love the black and white edit on this shot and the remoteness of it all that sums up this part of Scotland for me.
A couple of years ago I travelled around the entire coastline of Great Britain and took lots of photos. Please check my blog for some more:

A seemingly endless road stretches through Namibia’s golden desert, leading travelers into the vast, untouched wilderness. The perfect embodiment of solitude, adventure, and the boundless freedom of the open road.
Nur ein Weg führt zum Ziel
Talking Heads - Road To Nowhere Lyrics:
Well, we know where we're goin'
But we don't know where we've been
And we know what we're knowin'
But we can't say what we've seen
And we're not little children
And we know what we want
And the future is certain
Give us time to work it out
We're on a road to nowhere
Come on inside
Takin' that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride
I'm feelin' okay this mornin'
And you know
We're on a road to paradise
Here we go, here we go
We're on a ride to nowhere
Come on inside
Takin' that ride to nowhere
We'll take that ride
Maybe you wonder where you are
I don't care
Here is where time is on our side
Take you there, take you there
We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere
There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby it's all right
And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby it's all right
Would you like to come along?
And you could help me sing this song
And it's all right, baby it's all right
They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby it's all right
There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby it's all right
And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby it's all right
Would you like to come along?
You could help me sing this song
And it's all right, baby it's all right
They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby it's all right
We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere

Talking Heads - Road To Nowhere Lyrics
These are the salt flats leading to the Great Salt Lake (20 min. outside of Salt Lake City, UT). Miles of salt paths glistening on the sun, going nowhere.
I especially like the pinkish haze that cloaks the horizon...
If you are lucky, the weather is consistent, and the lake maintains the same level - you can stick a branch in the shallow salt water and sand; leave it for a few weeks. When you come to retreive it it will look like it is made out of crystals, sparkling and salty...

Once I knew only darkness and stillness... my life was without past or future... but a little word from the fingers of another fell into my hand that clutched at emptiness, and my heart leaped to the rapture of living.
--Helen Keller
It's a great excuse and luxury, having a job and blaming it for your inability to do your own art. When you don't have to work, you are left with the horror of facing your own lack of imagination and your own emptiness. A devastating possibility when finally time is your own.
--Julian Schnabel
