Rip Rap are the remains of cement or ashphalt that's been torn up to be replaced or otherwise used. I found a large amount of it across the road from where the new Marietta, GA ballpark is being constructed. Shot with my Sony NEX 6. Hugely modified using three apps: Aviary, CameraBag 2 and PhotoToaster!
In the memory of my father 1917 - 2015
Born in 1917 in the Austro Hungarian Empire, trained as a carpenter in Trzic, SI, soldier of the Yugoslav Royal Army, underwent a capitulation on April 1941, mobilized in the German army, from where he managed to escape, captured, a prisoner in Graz, Austria, managed to escape, again captured, sent as dezerter to the Russian front, from where he returned home in 1945. After the war, becoming a master carpenter, then supervisor of railway lines, ending his career as the leader of crafts workshops in the Railway Company in Celje, Slovenia.
As a pensioner spent his days gardening and raising bees in his weekend house.
The last three years he spent in a home for elderly, where on July 6, 2015 in the early morning quietly asleep.
May he rest in peace ...

Ashley Mark Thorley, 29, died in a crash between a car and his motorbike in Sheffield on Sunday morning (September 4). Ashley - known as Ash – died at the scene outside the Esso petrol station in East Bank Road.
This is one of the two sad jobs I attended that weekend..
It was good to get the chance to attend the funeral and join in with the hundreds of bikers who turned out for the funeral procession...

These was taken a few hours after I nearly sliced my thigh open on a razor sharp table edge. Brand new jeans, too, but oh well.

This was right near the door at the end of the 4th floor hallway. It looks as if there is some graffiti, a rip in the wallpaper and what I found as odd was flypaper stuck to the wall. If you look at the top left at my note, there are flys sticking to the wall.
I was in NYCs Meat Packing District the morning after I heard the horrible news of the untimely death of one of the fashion industries most beloved designers, Alexander McQueen. These memorial flowers and a framed letter from Alexander's loved ones marks this sad passing (outside of his NYC store). R.I.P. Alexander McQueen.

RIP - Porky's closed on April 3, 2011 and all items went up for auction the following day. The site has since been cleared.
Not sure what's going to happen to it next.
With great sadness we report that Orson, the beloved black jaguar, passed away today. He was euthanized after staff recognized that his increasingly geriatric condition was affecting his quality of life. Orson was almost 22 years old--a very advanced age for his species--and was a well-known resident of the Zoo. Please take a moment to offer condolences to Zoo staff who will be feeling this loss. RIP big guy, we'll miss you dearly. :'(
