Jazz Kitty (Summer 1996 - October 15, 2009)
Jazz was a sweet, loving and mischievous kitty who will be missed by all who knew her. Jazz had an embolism which resulted in complete paralysis of half her body and her condition would continue to deteriorate in a painful way. So Jazz was peacefully put to sleep today with Elizabeth to keep her company. In the summer of 1996, I found Jazz as a stray kitten outside a Lifetime show in VA (Norfolk? with deadguy and bouncing souls? - Megan & Issa were there - who else?). Jazz went to live with my mom in Winter 1996 when I had to move to an apartment that didn't allow cats and Jazz kitty would cry when left by herself (thanks to Sarah & Erika for watching her when I was gone). We tried to convince my grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Ward Johnson, that Jazz would be a good companion for her but she wasn't interested. Ironically 5 years ago when my grandmother really started being affected by Alzheimer's, she ended up adopting Jazz as her constant companion. My grandmother passed on August 28, 2009. I hope Jazz found my grandmother at the end of the Rainbow Bridge today. Rest in Peace Jazz - we miss you and love you.

Rips is Norwegian for red currant which is the berry this 7% abv fruit beer was made with. This is the 4th beer in Haand Special Berry Collection, the first three were with sea-buckthorns ("Tindved"), crowberries ("Krekling") and blueberries ("Blåbær"). Though I haven't been overly excited about the previous ones, I actually found this fairly decent. It has a slightly sour edge to it with a nice note of red currants adding to the sour character (though by no means making this a proper sour beer). All in all a refreshing and tasty fruit beer, though a bit short and not very complex.

Tony passed away yesterday after suffering kidney cancer. Tony was responsible for discovering some of the UK's most influential indie bands and famous for running The Hacienda nightclub in Manchester during the 80's and 90's. Fans Pay Tribute

This beautiful girl is "Belle". Named for the tiny jingle bell on her collar. She was a stray that my husband and I took her in from the cold and rain one morning (new years eve). We had seen her sleeping out under our gazebo in a chair in the backyard for about a week and just figured she was passing through but that was not the case. She was lost and actually very ill. She was declawed so she couldn't hunt for herself and therefore was extremely underweight. Little did we know, upon taking her in and trying to keep her warm and cozy, (and falling in love with her quickly) we were giving her the love and care she wouldn't have gotten anyplace else in her last days of life... She spent her nights sleeping at the foot of our bed and had the cutest, sassiest voice I've ever heard in a cat. She would follow me everywhere and was very cuddly and lovey. She was an absolute sweetheart and my husband and I wanted to keep her. But upon taking her to the vet to get looked at, we were given the worst news possible. She was dying. Chronic liver failure. She was too sick and would not survive much longer because she would not be able to eat and would eventually starve to death. So instead of taking her home, we had to make the tough choice to put her to sleep right then to help end her suffering... I cannot tell you how heartbroken I was and to this day still am over this beautiful kitty. In the short time she was with us, she left a lasting impression on my heart. She will be dearly missed. I am just glad we were able to make her last moments the best we could, filled with warmth and love. <3 Rest In Peace my little princess. I know you'll always be with me in my heart.
RIP Winston the Wayfarer. (September 2008 - April 2010)
Today, Winston suffered from a serious case of the “broken hinge”. I ordered a few colorful pairs to take his place. Wow, I feel like the Angelina Jolie of clear lens wayfarer glasses..

Our big black cat passed away peacfully in his sleep this morning. He was mostly an outdoor cat, but we let him come inside, especially in the Winter. Here he is laying on me in December 2011. Mr. Big was 17 years old. May 2002 - 8/1/2019.
I was sad to learn that a high school friend passed away last night of a heart attack, Dan had one 7 years ago and was always diligent about his health since heart disease took his parents early in life. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones.
