The first time I ever saw Hawthorne Heights was at Warped Tour 2005. That spring, I had surgery on my ankle, and I had been in a cast for about 6 months and so finally I got to wear this boot thing. So, I went to go see HH because I was 13, and I loved Silence In Black and White. I some how fell into the pit (with the help of a VERRYYYYY attractive kid), get back up and almost lost my shoe. I continue to watch HH. I fell in love with Casey from the get go, was my favorite. He was just so down right adorable. That was my first HH experience out of 3. I have to admit, I do own both HH CD's and probably know all of the words to them. Even though they may have been unoriginal and generic, they had influenced me in more ways than I will ever know. They were that bridge to bands like Underoath and Norma Jean for me. And Casey dying has made me extremely upset and sad and I don't even know why. I have only met him once, and the one time i did, he was the sweetest dude ever. I know I went into this big long rant about him, but really- Hawthorne Heights has been through the ringer and they have been through so much crap, and now their guitar player dies? RIP.

Sorry I'm late :3 So I had this idea for a self portrait, but it didn't really come out like I wanted.

A bottle of Rips from from HaandBryggeriet in Drammen, Norway, at Café Sara in Oslo.
Rips is Norwegian for red currant which is the berry this 7% abv fruit beer was made with. This is the 4th beer in Haand Special Berry Collection, the first three were with sea-buckthorns ("Tindved"), crowberries ("Krekling") and blueberries ("Blåbær"). Though I haven't been overly excited about the previous ones, I actually found this fairly decent. It has a slightly sour edge to it with a nice note of red currants adding to the sour character (though by no means making this a proper sour beer). All in all a refreshing and tasty fruit beer, though a bit short and not very complex.
"Rip rip woodchip - turn it into paper
Throw it in the bin, no news today
Nightmare, dreaming - can't you hear the screaming?
Chainsaw, eyesore - more decay"
John WIlliamson
Woodchipping is a subject that once hit a deep chord of anger with many Auustralians - primarily because of the logging of old growth forest for use in paper pulp - its an issue that in fact is still happening today.
Most australian woodchip is exported from Tasmania - home of some of the oldest forests on earth and a state in which Forestry VS Consveration has had its flashpoints again and again in Australia in the last 50 years.
This giant pile happily comes from plantation trees grown in Queensland for use in pulp - but thats not because we look after out old growth - its because we logged the guts out of it long ago. Whats left of old growth forest in Queensland is aggresively protected and in national parks now.
This bulldozer caught my eye at the Port of Brisbane - the yellow of the machine and the yellow golden brown of the chip just stood out - the mountain hes working on is actually about 25m high..
A lot of paper.

Jazz Kitty (Summer 1996 - October 15, 2009)
Jazz was a sweet, loving and mischievous kitty who will be missed by all who knew her. Jazz had an embolism which resulted in complete paralysis of half her body and her condition would continue to deteriorate in a painful way. So Jazz was peacefully put to sleep today with Elizabeth to keep her company. In the summer of 1996, I found Jazz as a stray kitten outside a Lifetime show in VA (Norfolk? with deadguy and bouncing souls? - Megan & Issa were there - who else?). Jazz went to live with my mom in Winter 1996 when I had to move to an apartment that didn't allow cats and Jazz kitty would cry when left by herself (thanks to Sarah & Erika for watching her when I was gone). We tried to convince my grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Ward Johnson, that Jazz would be a good companion for her but she wasn't interested. Ironically 5 years ago when my grandmother really started being affected by Alzheimer's, she ended up adopting Jazz as her constant companion. My grandmother passed on August 28, 2009. I hope Jazz found my grandmother at the end of the Rainbow Bridge today. Rest in Peace Jazz - we miss you and love you.
Tony passed away yesterday after suffering kidney cancer. Tony was responsible for discovering some of the UK's most influential indie bands and famous for running The Hacienda nightclub in Manchester during the 80's and 90's. Fans Pay Tribute
He'll be sadly missed. The film "24 Hour Party People" was a comedy mix based on his story and how he helped transform the declining industrial city of Manchester into "Mad-chester" - the place to be...
This bronze bust by Ian Walters is on the walkway by the Royal Festival Hall, London.
It was erected by the Greater London Coucil and unveiled by Oliver Tambo, President of the African National Congress on 28th October 1985, nearly 5 years before Mandela's eventual release in 1990 after 27 years of imprisonment.
