It's 27deg. and two days ago it was 72 deg. We really didn't need to flip those numbers! I must say though, it is kind of pretty. Looking to get a foot of the white stuff, before all is said and done.

This darling donkey lives down the road from where we spend our vacation time in Cumbria. I discovered that the family who owns these donkeys has rescued them and given them a "forever home".
Further research led me to a charity that rescues donkeys in the UK, called The Donkey Sanctuary
I am so impressed with what these people and the individuals who provide homes do to care for these animals.

This young calf couldn't get out of the mud. He struggled for some time before help arrived. It was great to see the tenderness and caring of a juvenile. Kruger.
Sasha and I found this scared and hungry fellow in the dumpster by North Point Marina. The dumpster was very big and he couldn't get out without help.
To find long piece of wood around the marina was almost impossible, so we ran to the woods next to the marina and found old big branch on the ground.
It was very heavy but my 9 year old didn't complain so I didn't :-).
The second we put the branch into the dumpster he came out. I didn't have a chance get my camera.
He looked at us for couple seconds and ran away.

Came the storm, heavy rain roared.
A lonely rosebud lies to the ground,wet, abandoned.
Came a pink butterfly, tried to help pulling it away.
Feeling some efforts somewhere, a blue butterfly found the same way.
two hearts together to help the flower...
the rosebud arises high and higher...
Now it stands still and beautiful again; the two butterflies fly away together happily ever after :-)
Yesterday I spend many hours on the beach. The sunset had been spectacular for many days now, and finally I was able to be there. There will be several pictures from this session in the days to come. This was one of the first pictures and the chopper and the ship made a great collection. Rescue at sea. , lighthouses and chopper... You get the picture:-)
Emotionally drained yesterday, after these wonderful people got these dogs, plus one more, plus 3 bunny rabbits, and 2 cats across the currents of Wilcrest at Briar Forest, in Houston. I helped to strategically get them all into a small hatch-back for eventual evacuation to Magnolia. The human spirit is amazing, why can’t we all work together like this in times of peace.

My newly rescued cat - I named her Carina which means cutie in Italian.
She was abandoned outside the shelter, and they figure she is 4 years old. She spent about 8 months in the shelter
So far already a companion ...

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Faralon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so badly off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her…. a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.
They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, nudged them, and pushed gently, thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.
The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

RNLI North Parade. Weymouth Lifeboat Station is one of the busiest Lifeboat stations on the south coast, undertaking around 100 ‘shouts’ a year, split equally between ‘Ernest and Mabel’ (Severn class Lifeboat) and ‘Phyl Clare III’ (Atlantic 75) covering 1330 square nautical miles.

It's been extremely windy here and I'm wondering if this is why I found this little fiery skimmer dragonfly struggling in our pool. They have such a mastery of the sky, but perhaps the wind we received was just too much. They are so fragile, one wonders how on earth they survive any breeze at all.
After this shot, I took it to a warm sandstone rock in the hopes it might dry out and recover. I had to go out for while, s I couldn't stay to see what happened - but it was gone when I returned home.

I met Robin on Saturday whilst walking in the Forest. I got chatting with his owner who told me Robin was a rescue from Romania and could be a little unpredictable. I said what a lucky dog he was to find a nice home and he told me Robin was indeed very lucky as the quota for the UK were already on the van and they let Robin on at the last minute. I won't go into detail but the ones left behind were not lucky at all.
