On this warm Saturday December 13th,2025 afternoon , we see Boom Police Chief Stanley Chavez getting into the oldest vehicle in the Boom PD's Fleet, a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, after taking a call at the Citizens Savings and Loan Sparta Branch, located at Old Main St and Shell St.
Boom is located in the Western Part of Apache County, NM, in the Terreno Llano Seco basin (TLS basin), and Terreno Llano Seco means "dry flat land" in Spanish. Boom has a population of about 1,798.
It is named after the oil boom that began in the area in the 1950s. Many streets are named for ocean or water themes, as significant development was planned for a vast man-made lake being built in the basin at the same time. The project failed, but oil, later supplemented by solar and wind, along with Boom Rodeo, held every July since 1969, has kept the place afloat. July rodeo. It is the most significant event, but smaller ones are held throughout the year, all at the Rodeo Arena, located on Roping Pen Road, in what would have been in the former lake bed.

This is one of the most significant events of the year. With a county that is larger than two East Coast states combined, the fair is one of the few events that cater to a diverse audience, featuring exhibitors and vendors, art, food, a livestock auction, a pet and animal show, a rodeo, and a Saturday night dance. The Sheriff’s office has deputies assigned to shifts for the fair, and the Community Health Center has EMTs on-site during the four-day run, with the School district's fall break also coinciding with the fair now.
The fair takes place at the county fairgrounds on the North side of Sparta, the county seat and hub of the county.

On this Friday Oct 6th ,2023 late morning ,we see local Farmer Susan Howard picking up some empty egg cartons after dropping off full egg cartons at Maxwell Pharmacy ,we also see Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office Deputy Carmen Cortez talking with local man about goat incident at 82 annual county fair that left many pumpkins and other produce destroyed. Hence why Susan’s truck has load of pumpkins as that is her next stop at the fair .

On this Monday Mid Afternoon November 11th ( Veterans Day) 2024, We see off-duty New Mexico State Park Ranger for Eagle Lake Joe King Jr talking with his father Joe King Sr as Joe Jr shows him the new Remembrance Statue that honors the U.S. Military personnel who lost their lives or were injured serving in the United States Armed Forces in the past, current, and future at home and abroad. The Statue Is located At Government Center Park in Sparta the County seat of Hazzard Range County.
Joe Jr is taken his father to a joint assembly for Middle and High school students Joe Sr is one of the few remaining WW2 veterans living in the county. He Turned 100 in Sept and only served in the last months of the war, Joe Sr is also a veteran of another kind of Law Enforcement for 30 years with the county sheriff’s office and State police along with 11 years as County sheriff ( 1970-1982 ) .
The first year he was Sheriff Joe Sr met his wife Sally whose Brother Adam is a Veteran of the Vietnam war (1955 – 1975 ). Joe Jr is Married to Dolly a current Lieutenant of the Sheriff’s Office
The Ram 3500 passing belongs to the Inter-County Railway ( ICR) Shop Foreman / Mechanic /Maintenance Doug Lunas who is a Veteran of the Iraq War ( 2003–2011) behind the Wheel, conductor/brakeman/Maintenance Jose Arrey in the passenger seat they are parts run. Jose is married to Michelle Arre,y who was a County Sheriff’s Office deputy till a car accident in 2012 left her permanently disabled. Her older sister is a Veteran of the Armed Forces and saw deployments between 2005 and 2022.

ICR Office at the far end of their yard and maintenance building. ICR has been dealing with trespassers for years and today Train Master/dispatcher Cody Sanchez and Mechanic/ Maintenance Carlos Wick found a male passed out under one of their trucks

On this Monday Dec 18th ,2023 afternoon Outside of of Sparta Auto parts we rancher Millie Kelly talking with Hazzard Range County Sheriff's office Investigator Clint Dallas about few things His temporary unit “ old 99 “ is 1999 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is it last days as a 2023 Ford police interceptor utility is going to be its replacement very soon . Millie owns a ranch on Cortez Ranch rd in Northwestern part of the county ,she got full ownership of the ranch after her and her ex-husband divorce in 2018 .
We also see Casey Torres and Ray Sammy, both retired state workers, play their daily game of chess in front of the store . They have been playing almost daily for the last 14 years ,but the last three have been in front of the auto part store .
