On this Monday, April 28th 2025, Morning, we see more dirt and other debris have blown around the Clay County Sheriff’s Office's "high-visible decoy unit" 2013 Ram 1500 along Main St district of Basin City after a very windy Sunday, Basin City a census-designated Place in Clay County located in the Terreno llano seco basin ( TLS basin ), meaning dry flat land in Spanish. The TLS basin is about 90 miles long and about 20 miles wide in western Apache and Clay counties, NM.
Basin City was once home to around 3,000 people, but now around 400 call the place home. First settled in the 1870s as a ranching community and a stop on a trade route that would later become NM 167, a Boom happened during World 1 and 2 with manganese mines in the area. A railroad line served the area till the 1960s, when the line was abandoned.
The area is hanging on thanks to being a small hub for the few ranches, some oil production, and a solar farm, as well as a rest stop on NM 167

Sheriff TJ Gonzales told the Tribune that Deputy Glenn Musk was on patrol along NM 308 just north of Oasis Springs when he was passed by a Ram 2500 pickup pulling a boat in a no passing zone . Deputy Musk tried to get the pickup to pull over ,but to no use . Sergeant Josh Trejio and Deputy Carrie Hall join the chase that ended just before Pass when the truck and boat crashed on a curve . Sheriff Gonzales went on to say that the two men were arrested .

On this Saturday July 1st,2023 early evening ,We see Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office Lieutenant Dolly King heading for her unit as she about to head up Eagle lake ( few miles north of here ) to assist with Traffic control as crowds pack the Eagle Lake state park to watch the annual fireworks shows that takes place on the closest Saturday to the 4th and they are launched from Goat head island for the first time in years the island is island again
4th of July weekend is usually busy for local first responders and this one is no different . This Scene takes place in the rear of the county Government center in the county seat of Sparta .
On this Father’s day ( June 21st , 2020 ) We see outside of Blue's cafe co-owner Bill Cabot ( his wife Jan is the other co-owner ) standing outside the cafe checking on smoke conditions for himself.From all the forest and brush fires burning in NM and AZ .
Across the Street we see Hazzard Range County Undersheriff Bradley Gore unit , he is spending his Father’s day inside the office ( located on the first floor of the county government center ) trying to catching up on paperwork .Scene takes place in the county seat of Sparta .

As the temperate inches close 49 °F on this Thursday February 7th,2019 .We see Hazzard Range county Undersheriff Bradley Gore heading into KRTK radio station .He is be interviewed by radio DJ Denny Fernandez for the weekly " know your local goverment " segment ,also be interviewed is NM 14th Judicial District Attorney's Office Chief Investigator Ryan Morford.
It going to be another really windy day on this Tuesday April 17th ,2017 morning .The winds are already starting to blow . We see Hazzard Range County sheriff's Sergeant/Wildlife Investigator Floyd Firewalker a 29 year veteran of the force about to saddle up his horse and head into the Agudo Mts with local rancher Lonnie Debsin .About two mile long horse back ride along a closed US forest service rd ,to get to grazing area. The site of yet another wolf kill this time 2 cows and a calf .

On this Wednesday March 7th ,2018 .We see Hazzard Range County Public Works Dept Road and Street Division Road Director Acting ( since 2013 ) Bill Carson and worker Toad Marino ,working to replace signs along Loop rd at the Intersection on D rd in Rio Grande Junction.
This scene takes place in southern part of Rainbow Valley that is in Central part of the county ,it is about 25 mile long valley on the banks of the Rio Grande river. Sparta the county seat sets in north part of valley and it is called Rainbow valley because for all of the different colors of rocks . Irrigated mostly by the water of Eagle Lake want is just north of Sparta and wells . The valley grows many things ,but mostly Chile, Onions, Corn ,Pumpkins ,Pinto Beans ,pecans and cotton it is also home to three little census designated communities of Sun ,Mars and Rio Grande junction .

On Sunday March 26 ,2023 Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office Deputy Clayton Butler, Eagle Lake State Park Ranger Nathen Baca assisted County volunteer Fire Station 7 EMS and extrication ( Eagle Lake ) with a structure fire on CCC rd in Oasis cove area . Station 7 Fire Chief Davis Hokrer told the Herald that the State fire marshal office is investigating the cause of the fire at one of the historic pavilions .

Oasis cove area has 5 newer ( 1970 to 2005 ) building that are state park there is also 26 CCC ( Civilian Conservation Corps ) era buildings ,including 21 cabins that were built for tourists and still used for that today .The CCC buildings are managed by a local company who also operates all of Eagle lake marinas
Cattle Cove marina is on west side of lake next to community of Eagle lake
Oasis cove Marina is on east side of lake and is biggest of three
Narrow cove marina ,is the northern Eagle lake boat ramp and is closed because of the low lake levels ,but might open this year. The Marina has stay open just been move many times though .
CCC Rd is named after Civilian Conservation Corp .

On Monday May 18th,2020 Hazzard Range High School held its graduation for class of 2020 . Because of Covid -19 , a parade for 83 graduates was held . It started at Gateway Plaza down Old Mexico AV ,back on 1st and Up Dallas Ave back to High school . Where a driver through ceremony was held for graduates to get their diplomas . Hazzard Range Public schools would like to thank Hazzard Range County Sheriff’s office and Undersheriff Bradley Gore for leading the graduation parade.
On this Easter Sunday April 21 ,2019 morning . We see 20 year veteran of the Hazzard Range County sheriff's office Lieutenant Ron Bayerd headed to Fort Hazzard church in the southern part of the county . Ron only attendees church services only view times a year and today is one of them .Ron tries his best to make it to few services a year .See since his wife Ruthie died of cancer in 2011 .Ruthie's mother Mary relies on him to take her and Mary likes to have Ron setting to next to her . After the service Mary has Ron stop at the cemetery that is in the ghost town of Dusty Turkey to tend to Ruthie's grave . This year Ron is lucky he can attend service ,so Ron's good friend is helping him with helping Mary .

On this Wednesday Dec ,10th 2025 afternoon, we see Hazzard Range County Undersheriff Ron Bayerd heading into Range Veterinary Services to finish follow-up for Wildlife Investigator Dan Farco on the Mexican wolf attack on two of Rancher Hank and Brenda Wills' livestock guard dogs on their ranch in the northwestern part of the county.
Range Veterinary Services is owned by veterinarian Anthony Sullivan and his wife, Linda. The main clinic pictured here is located on Old Mexico Ave in Sparta, the County seat of Hazzard Range County. They have three other clinics in neighboring counties.
Wildlife Investigator Dan Farco is cross-commissioned with neighboring counties of Clay and Sweetwater to investigate livestock and animal depredation by Mexican Gray wolves, which have seen a significant increase in the last few years. However, the issue has worsened since the late 1990s, when the federal government first began releasing them.
Wildlife Investigator Farco's job used to be that of an animal control officer as well. With an uptick in killings, Hazzard Range County Sheriff Troy Forbes worked with three county commission boards to fund the necessary equipment for the position. Still, Sheriff Forbes, like many, would love to see taxpayers' funding used to address other issues facing the counties, such as drug-related crimes. Though he knows the need is there for this badly and will keep doing everything in his power to help along with Clay County Sheriff Shawn Gray and Sweetwater County Sheriff TJ Gonzales, along with other county and state officials, remote parts of western states like NM is a major uphill fight Even when depredation is confirmed by US Fish and Game along with the county have confirmed the kills, there are likely five more where investigators don’t have enough evidence left to add them to the list, or the animals are never found, many are pets.

El Segundo, a real life city in Los Angeles County, California and home to Mattels headquarters. It explains why they frequently use this place name on many of their Hot Wheels and Matchbox releases particularly Emergency themed castings such as this 2015 RAM 1500.
A nice chunky casting which just lacks the added bonus of plastic which is anything but dull grey!

Rust bucket Saloon has been closed since late March because of Covid-19 and it was just bar owner/Bartender Floyd Danson who set his own alarm by accident as he was cleaning .
On This Wednesday May 6th 2020 ,we see Clay County Sheriff’s office Deputy Scott Mcdoald having a meeting with New Mexico State Police officer Rick Baca about important police business in emergency turnaround on NM 308 about 10 east of the AZ/NM state line ,
Thanks to COVID-19 and 2020 oil bust traffic along this stretch of highway is way down from “ normal “ days gone by
NM state rd 308 is two lane road from Sparta ( county seat of Hazzard range county ) 90 miles to Philipsburg ( county seat of Clay county ) ,after the rd leaves Phillipsburg it turns into 4 lanes rd for 55 miles . The road is a 5 lanes for 8 miles as it claims over Spring Tree pass out of Philipsburg into Forest city . From Forest City to the state line it is 47 miles as it crosses Terreno llano Seco basin ( TLS basin ) .
TLS means dry flat land in Spanish. .Spring Tree pass is in the Verde mts Verde means Green in Spanish .
