Greetings!
Just a quick update from the road. Dave and I are in an old Route 66
motel called the Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Looks like
Norman Bates could have called this home.
Seriously, this is a classic motel along Route 66. Unfortunately the rest of the strip is very seedy and some of the buildings are abandoned. In fact, when we pulled up late at night to check in my brother in law, Dave, thought it was closed.
The rooms retain their retro look and feel. The manager, Stella, was very friendly and accommodating. Staying in a place like The Blue Swallow Motel keeps the spirit of Route 66 alive and well!
Next stop Wichita, KS to see my nephew Richard.

Art collectors, tourists, and hikers view “quick draw” paintings at the Grand Canyon Celebration of Art. The paintings had to be completed in under two hours, and were auctioned to raise money for a permanent venue to display the Grand Canyon National Park’s art collection.

I took this early Sunday morning as the sun was hitting the west side of the street. The bikes and car are parked in front of a bar. There's a story here but I'll be damned if I can figure it out. Was the car for the designated driver? I wonder...
These cards are my first try to entering the challenge for simple holiday card, by using few stamps, but I prefer embossed plain paper for the backgound and different color inks to enchance the look

Kiss me quick! No not me! I am not asking for, I am just reading the name of this tiny flower. :-)) Its diameter is approximately 5 to6 mm only (less than one fourth of an inch).
Common name: Pink Purslane, Kiss Me Quick, Chisme, Shaggy Portulaca
Botanical name: Portulaca pilosa Family: Portulacaceae (moss rose family)
This little wild flower is a prostrate, fleshy, branching plant that rampantly reseeds in lawns. The leaves are alternate. Leaves can reach 3cm in length (1inches) Leaves can be as wide as 0.5 cm (0.2inches) They are succulent, usually more or less rounded, linear to oblanceolate. The small 5-12 mm diameter flowers have five petals. They are deep pink. Blooms first appear in late spring and continue into early fall. This plant will grow just about anywhere there is a place to get a foothold. The seeds are very tiny and can be carried by the wind or hitch a ride on people and animals. It is very beautiful in mass plantings, though, and has been very effective in preventing erosion.
