A Quick Look - This is my friend Colin taking "A Quick Look" at an image he just shot of a foggy morning on Lewes Beach. See more at RandyRobertsPhotography.com
We have just started nibbling on our winter greens that are coming up in the garden. At this point we have some baby arugula and baby kale that we can clip from. In a few more weeks we should have quite a bit more to choose from. The cold frames with the glass are doing significantly better than the quick hoops, but they also do not get any shade from our patio.
A work day today. As we pulled up outside the house, Alexander asked if we could go to the park. It was twenty to six - nearly bedtime! I instinctively replied no, but then I thought why not, so we went for a quick swing at the park (it's great living so close!). On the way back, we stopped at the building site nearby - it was all very exciting - they were tarmacing the drives, so there was the tipper truck, a road roller and this big machine (which thanks to the very obliging, if slightly unintelligible Irish builder, I now know is a Barber Green) - Alexander was in heaven. We stood for half an hour watching the machines work, then we watched the builders drive them up onto the truck and take them away for the night. Then Daddy got home and he recounted it all to him. How to very easily make a little boy's day. I'm so glad we decided to go to the park. :)

I was passing by this building today while downtown at the Idaho State House and I loved the way this building looked in the light and with the dramatic clouds behind it. I saw this image in my head and had to take a quick snap.
I really, really like the source photo and have been wanting to draw something from it for a while now.
This is just a quick sketch I did at lunch that I haven't finished.
I used a standard #2 pencil. =D
I'll take it home and get my art pencils out to finish it.
I just really liked the relationship between the horse and its owner. The soft look in the horse's eyes, and the character of the old man. They just seem very real to me, like it was a moment captured by the photographer that the subjects were never aware of. =)
I'll see if I can take a better picture with my camera, instead of using my cell phone.
