I really, really like the source photo and have been wanting to draw something from it for a while now.
This is just a quick sketch I did at lunch that I haven't finished.
I used a standard #2 pencil. =D
I'll take it home and get my art pencils out to finish it.
I just really liked the relationship between the horse and its owner. The soft look in the horse's eyes, and the character of the old man. They just seem very real to me, like it was a moment captured by the photographer that the subjects were never aware of. =)
I'll see if I can take a better picture with my camera, instead of using my cell phone.

On Monday morning, I made a quick visit to Riversdale Valley Farm and Baird's Barn in Roseburg, Oregon. They collect and recycle old-timey farm and barn stuff as well as many other pre-loved treasures. If you are ever in Roseburg, give them a call and they will be happy to show you around. They are open to the public by appointment.
Sorry, I had to speed this up a bit to fit it all in.

Decided to just stop and paint right now. I was wandering around sketching and not painting so forced myself to do it. Too dark on the tree. I may fix it up at home.
