You just point your lens,

questions usually come later

delightfully unanswered.

There are a couple of questions that I get quite often in flickrmail, and I figured I'd just go ahead and make a little FAQ page so I could answer those once for everyone. :)

Q. What lens do you use?

A. For almost ever single picture in my 365 I've used my 50mm lens. It is the most amazing thing ever if you need a good, inexpensive lens. You can't take shots that are super close or really far ones because it's fixed and can't zoom, but for portraits and random shots, it's perfect. It has terrific depth of field and focus. I love it. :)

Q. How do you post photos in the comments?

A. People do it in different ways. I'm sure you've probably heard this, but if you want to put a picture in the comments that is already on flickr, you simply copy the URL (the link at the top of the page, the website, whatever you want to call it), paste it into the comments, and put brackets [ ] on either end of it.

To put a photo in the comments that is NOT already on flickr is slightly more tricky. You need to have the photos already online somewhere, like photo bucket or tumblr or something like that. I use a blog on blogspot.com which is free and easy to use. I just upload all the photos that I'll want in the comments onto my blog which is at this website: www.ssflickr.blogspot.com/ . Once they're uploaded to the blog, I click on the photo I want to use (it opens in a separate window) and grab the URL from it. Then I go back to flickr, to my main picture, and in the comments I paste one of the two formats (which can be found at the bottom of the formatting tips that you can use when writing comments). I find that the second one works for me and the first doesn't, so I guess you'll just have to mess around with that for yourself. So THEN after pasting that into your comment, you take the URL from the photo and paste it either where it says LINK TEXT if you use the first option, or URL if you use the second option, replacing the text that was previously there. And that's all there is to it!

or the answer? God help us either way.

Love is the answer, but while you are waiting for the answer, sex raises some pretty good questions (Woody Allen).

I made the artwork for The Softone's second album, Horizon tales, and I was inspired by the music and the album name.

When it comes to indie-pop / folk / acoustic music, I like to keep things minimal and stylish. I like to just work with a few elements to just give a hint about the music and the style on the record.

As I listened to the music on the album, I imagined being far from the big city, where all the stories, people and feelings cross. I imagined being an observer far from all of it and portraited the city from outside.

Questions from the audience and online for the keynote speaker.

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is pleased to host the 28th Annual Martin J. Forman Memorial Lecture. The Annual Lecture commemorates the significant impact on international nutrition by Martin J. Forman, who headed the Office of Nutrition at USAID for more than 20 years. The annual lecturer is invited to present his or her personal, often unconventional, views about large issues dealing with malnutrition.

Over recent decades, as global food systems have changed rapidly, so has the face of malnutrition. Obesity and the double burden of malnutrition have risen dramatically, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Many of these countries are using fiscal and regulatory tools to address these issues, with little evidence on their effectiveness.

This lecture will discuss findings from our evaluations of these public health efforts around the world. Some surprising new results—including impressive findings on the impact of marketing and front-of-the-package profiling options—may shift the focus of our actions. However, we still have much to learn about what works and how we can sustain dietary improvements. To date, no country has successfully arrested or even slowed the rise in overweight and obesity. Our challenge is assembling a set of effective programs and policies to address the new face of malnutrition.

3-D Cross-viewing Instructions.

Cross-viewing is the best way to view 3-D (in my humble opinion). It takes about 5 minutes on average to master this technique, but it is well worth it. After that it became effortless. Better than glasses because you lose none of the color. Here's how to do it...

1.Place the image in Figure 1 in the center of your screen.

2. Sit at your normal distance.

3. Slowly cross your eyes. You will see a double image.

4. Continue to cross until the middle two images overlap.

5. Adjust focus on middle image, keeping the two images overlapped.

6. You should see the image snap into perfect 3-D.

All along the 13th century the fortifications of Vide have been done and undone due to the dynastic dispute of King Dom Dinis with his brother, which owned these lands and had the pretension of becoming king, despite not being the first-born son of King Afonso III.

In 1279, Dom Dinis interpreted the fortification of the existing castle by his brother Prince Afonso Sanches as a covered operation to launch an assault to the crown, and departed with the royal troops to siege Castelo de Vide in 1281.

After solving the dispute, the fortifications previously built have been destroyed - a tower and several segments of walls.

Later, Dom Dinis permuted the lands owned by his brother for others away from the frontier, and assigned them to a noble he trusted to defend Portugal and his crown against Spain.

Since then, Dom Dinis ordered the reinforcement of the castle and the construction of a wall surrounding the town which gave the current name to the locality, Castelo de Vide (Castle of Vide).

The castle itself is located in a corner of the fortification complex and integrates the beautiful Medieval Borough.

I will not answer any questions in regards to trades and or sale.

I often get questions/comments about whether she can see. While these tend to sound like broken records after awhile, I do understand them. Lately I have been working with her having her hair pulled back. She doesn't like it very much and usually has the tie pulled out of her hair in under an hour.

As for the question of can she see with her hair down I believe she can. But I also believe her vision is obstructed quite a bit because she occasionally runs into things.

Eggs & Issues with Dr. James Morse, Superintendent of Portland Public Schools, September 14, 2010

So, consider the question "Do you dream in color?" After many years of truly not knowing for certain, I can answer definitively "yes." Here's how I know for certain: Two nights ago I dreamed of sketching the upper portion of a building (not this one.) I could vividly see the loosely painted colors of Cadmium Red Light contrasted against Perylene Green. I recall thinking in my dream that the two colors were almost (but not quite) complimentary. Upon waking Sunday, I told myself I needed to add the two colors to a similar sketch I'd made on Saturday morning to better recall the sensation of seeing color in my dream. Having done so, I realized almost immediately that the Perylene Green in my dream was slightly more of an Olive hue. So why is this important? I've no idea, really. But I felt there was some imperative and rather than question it I acted upon the imperative.
