Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus (The Stargate Mix)
Depeche Mode are an English electronic band that formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. The group consists of founders Dave Gahan (lead vocals, occasional songwriter since 2005), Martin Gore (guitar, keyboards, vocals, main songwriter since 1982), and Andy Fletcher (keyboards, bass guitar). Depeche Mode released their debut album Speak & Spell in 1981, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. Original band member Vince Clarke (keyboards, guitar, main songwriter from 1980 to 1981), left the band after the release of the album, leaving the band as a trio to record A Broken Frame, released the following year. Gore took over the lead songwriting duties and, later in 1982, Alan Wilder (keyboards, drums, bass guitar, occasional songwriter) officially joined the band to fill Clarke's spot, establishing a line up that would continue for the next 13 years. Depeche Mode have been a trio again since 1995, when Wilder left.

I'd take the inimitable Mohammed as my role model, if I could, and it wasn't, by definition, a logical impossibility. They broke the mould with Mohammed.
You see, well I know you don't, but Mohammed did seem to see everything in his domain. That's why it's taken a while to compose this picture. It's taken a while to put together the seemingly random matters of fact.
Before I'd heard the striated thornbills, before they pointed out the grey butcherbird, and before the question of what she was eating was formed, days before, I saw something out of the ordinary.
Birds poop. If they didn't…well, you know. They don't make dung hills like rhinoceros or rabbits. Typically they'll do something expedient, driven by need rather than good manners. What I saw was more than one white splash on a granite boulder near the edge of the wild wood. I did form the question: who visits here more than once? Then being busy, chased it out of my head.
After the grey butcherbird left this behind — having expediently evacuated before takeoff — I thought to take a photograph to check later; to see if I could put a name to her leftovers. We all know how awesome leftovers can be. Think bubble and squeak, last night's takeaway pizza for breakfast…a curry gravy with roti. She knew it too! When I got back there in the afternoon her leftovers were gone.
Today I had cause to pass that way again. The scene, apart from the splashes of guano, looks different without the bird to give meaning to the tree's geometry. But I did locate that cleft. Intriguingly, the bark looks polished; burnished by use. Now my disconnected Mohammed-style musing makes sense. It was she who streaked the boulder.
