The most obvious, blindingly obvious, question is energy. It’s oil. I think historians a hundred years from now will puzzle over how it could be that the United States of America, the most powerful nation in the world, as far back as the early 1970s, came to recognize that dependence on foreign oil was a problem, posed a threat, compromised our freedom of action, and then did next to nothing about it. Every president from Richard Nixon down to the present has declared, “We’re going to fix this problem.” And none of them did. The reason we are in Iraq today is because the Persian Gulf is at the center of the world’s oil reserves. I don’t mean that we invaded Iraq on behalf of big oil, but the Persian Gulf region would have zero strategic significance were it not for the fact that that’s where the oil is.

I apologize for the image but I'm on an old computer at a family member's house in Virginia. Microsoft Paint brings back lots of memories. Anyway...

Have you been contacted by Getty Images? They have officially partnered with Flickr, and it's in beta stage. I received this e-mail:

"Hi Brian Hathcock,

Flickr has partnered with the fabulous Getty Images to offer an invitation-only service for Flickr members to sell their photos for commercial use.

The Getty Images team has noticed your work on Flickr, and is pleased to offer you an invitation to enroll with them. They have selected 18 of your photos for possible inclusion in the program."

And so forth.

My question for those in the know is simply, What do you think of this?

Would you (or are you) going to do it?

Any discussion and thoughts in my comments are very welcome.

Last week, I have spotted one stunning capture on Flickr explore homepage.

I have continued browsing on one or two others captures and then remembering that I have forget to FAV this capture, I have try to find it back...the history button wasn't working so I type the user name in the search field because it was the only thing I could remember then..

.And surprise, I have found the original capture and several duplicates named home_photo_tarotastic.

Is it an usual way to grab a copy of a capture you like and put it in your gallery ?

By the way keeping the user name in the capture's title is a way to show that you will be easily spotted later...The problem is that no one (I did not check every capture duplicate) explicit says that this capture was not the result of is own work...and they are letting comments & fav poured in...

Or Is it a way to make your google popularity grow (and your Flickr fame too..) ?

It was Hare Krishna Day on Centre Island that day, and they had Questions, and Answers too. But this was as close as I could get to Questions, and Answers too, since everybody else wanted to get to the ferry.
