110,000 Throughout Ireland Protested Against 64 Billion Euro Bank Debt - Were You There?
Have you ever noticed how often the number 64 appears in headlines and on posters. We in Ireland have a 64 Billion Euro debt, or so we are told. It is interesting to note that "The $64,000 Question" was an American game show broadcast from 1955–1958, which became embroiled in the scandals involving TV quiz shows of the day.
The organisers of today's protest march claimed that over 110,000 people took part in the demonstrations.but according to local media and police estimates the total country wide turnout was about 50,000.
The largest event took place in Dublin and according to local police about 25,000 took part while the organisers claim that at least 60,000 took part (maybe 64,000 took part). Today an experienced journalist explained to me that the police count the number of legs and divide by two and the protest organisers count the number of legs and divide by one (BTW that's a joke).
To be honest I do not know if anyone is even trying to be accurate but the following statement was issued by the ITCU:
9 Feb 2013
More than 110,000 people took part in demonstrations across the country today, in protest at the country’s continued bank debt burden.
The protests were organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and took place in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Sligo.
Over 60,000 took part in the Dublin protest, while at least 15,000 turned out in Cork, 13,000 in Waterford, 10,000 in Limerick, 7,000 in Sligo and 5,000 I Galway.
Congress General Secretary David Begg told protestors at a rally in Dublin’s Merrion Square that bank debt problem had not been solved by the recent deal.
He vowed Congress would continue its bank debt campaign until the link between private bank debt and national debt was clearly broken.
Prospective students and parents joined the faculty and staff of the Louisiana Scholars' College to learn more about the program, attend classes, and get their questions answered on Saturday, March 10, 2018.
The question asked "have you ever been convicted of a crime" followed by "explain why"... so I put "no" and "good lawyer."

There are some days I really question my sanity. This was one of them. I have never seen a Royal Brunei 787 up close. I've seen them at very long distances at Frankfurt and London but they were way to far away to photograph. To make matters worse they arrive at Heathrow very early in the morning, way before sunrise, and depart very late at night. However, on this day, I lucked out - sort of. The flight was delayed and running over two hours late and was estimated to arrive shortly after sunrise. I bundled up and went to the Myrtle Avenue field to wait. What a god awful morning. Very cold, biting wind, and then the rain started. Coffee didn't help it all. Since this was in December, sunrise wasn't until 7:45 am or so. I decided to play around with my camera and was shooting planes landing in almost complete darkness. I lucked out the photos turned out even though the images are not tack sharp. Finally, the sky started to lighting, the Royal Brunei 787 came in. I left happy. I went back to my hotel room to warm up, with my wife shaking her head at the things I do.
In an aside, late that evening I happened to peek out of the hotel window just in time to see the 787 taxiing by the room. Life is good!
I took these photos in December 2018 at Myrtle Avenue field near Heathrow Airport.
Okay if I was to start a bntm would you audition ? . I did one but I didn't get many entries an I was embarrassed so I deleted the photo and never started . A question and answer from some cheap trivia game that a friend got as a gift. This caused some uproar when we tried playing it!
Our yard has seen a looooot of butterflies lately - monarchs, tiger swallowtails, black swallowtails, cabbage, sulphurs, red admirals, question marks, and various and sundry others I haven't gotten a good enough look at to ID. So far, this little guy is the only flutter-by who's been cooperative for a photoshoot.

The N.C. Department of Transportation hosted a public meeting on Wednesday, December 9, to answer questions regarding work pending on Walkertown-Guthrie Road along the WSNB Project route in Forsyth County.
The meeting took place from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown.
NCDOT representatives displayed maps of the designs and were available to answer questions and receive comments. There was no formal presentation.
This project has been underway for nearly one year and the contractor, Dragados USA has cleared, placed fill and began some structure construction on the project. They have implemented an onsite detour on U.S. 158 and will began construction within the next two months on the Walkertown-Guthrie Road bridge that will go over the new Beltway. The roadway will be closed for 8 months to complete this section of the project. This closure will require an offsite detour.
The project begins at U.S. 158 southwest of Winston-Salem and ends at I-74/U.S. 311 southeast of the city. The total length of the project is 34.2 miles.
The project is scheduled to be fully complete in December of 2018.

Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) Chairman, H.E. Festus Mogae, outlined the three defining questions that face South Sudan – Peace, Relief and Inclusivity
At the opening of JMEC’s plenary meeting on 15th March 17 in Juba, the Chairman said, “Whether by design or default, a war is being waged around this country and the security and humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate.”
“How do we stop the fighting? How do we stop innocent people dying of starvation? And how do we ensure that the interests and concerns of all South Sudanese communities are fully represented and considered?
Regarding the new reports of and intense fighting between the government forces and the SPLA in Opposition in Fangak and the Equatoria, with worst incidents reported in and around Kajo-keji, the chairperson of the JMEC, Festus Mogae, said there must be “accountability for these violations.”
“It is not acceptable and I strongly condemn the violence, the killings, the human rights abuses and the destruction of homes by all armed groups across this country,” lamented Festus Mogae
“Those responsible must be held accountable,” he stressed.

For many action heroes, the key question is: what villain should I defeat before he destroys the world? For XIII the question of questions is: Who am I? Am I John Fleming, Jason Mac Lane, Hugh Mitchell, Karl Meredith, Brian Kelly or Reginald Wesson? Like Jason Bourne in the film, XIII is a trained fighting machine whose main characteristic is a failing memory. While searching for his true identity and wondering why so many people seem to be trying to kill him, he stumbles from one adventure into the next. He is suspected of murdering the President of the United States and unwittingly becomes a pivotal figure in various grotesque conspiracies. XIII is surrounded by even more intriguing, interesting characters such as his arch-enemy The Mongoose and archangel Major Jones, one of the female heroines. Action scenes seem to have been lifted straight from the movies. Every time you think the mystery cannot get more complicated, a new intrigue or unexpected twist proves you wrong. Brussels writer Jean Van Hamme (see also Thorgal and Largo Winch) entrusted his characters and exciting plots to William Van Cutsem aka William Vance. This Brussels cartoonist is known for his realistic style and thorough research. Together, they built XIII into a stalwart of the realistic action comic strip. Sales of albums have now passed the 10 million mark.

"Animality: Can Humans Think Like Animals?" Display, Q&A
What happens when a chimp takes hold of temporality? This question drives the performance art work Santino’s Gift. The project began with Santino the chimpanzee who likes to throw rocks at visitors to the Furuvik Zoo in Sweden. What is strikingly uncommon about Santino is his forethought in collecting the rocks before visitors arrive. The preeminent philosopher Martin Heidegger uses forethought as the scaffolding for explaining human uniqueness in his work Being and Time. Visualizing a future allows humans to plan and build, to make objects function as equipment toward future ends, and to fashion technology.
In response to the chimp’s rupturing human preeminence, scientists studied and reported on the his ability while the zoo keepers castrated Santino as a mode of control over his behavior and future plans. Santino’s Gift is an art project designed to give Santino a present which he can make use of while in confinement and down on his luck. In Santino’s Gift Assistant Professor of English Ron Broglio spent part of an afternoon wrapping a copy of Being and Time and fitting it into a hand-crafted wooden box. The present along with an accompanying letter have been mailed to Santino care of the Furuvik Zoo. Broglio is awaiting a response and hopes Santino likes the work. vimeo.com/18804341

“Where are you going? Are you lookin' for answers to questions under the stars?”
Where Are You Going: Dave Matthews Band, Busted Stuff
This is one of my favorite ballads from the Dave Matthews Band. It’s one of those songs with such a beautiful melody and soft sounds to match the softness of Dave’s voice. Every word, every note seems to have been hand selected for a perfect match and placement in the song.
This song always reminds me of the days of soul searching- of seeking answers to questions under the stars. When I felt a lot of hard decisions and sadness was in my life, and as my face was often drowned with such decisions, I always had this song to be there and lift my spirits.
*** Artist Notes ***
Capturing the essence of looking out at the morning stars after a night of endless soul searching.
Lyrics:
Where are you going, with your long face pulling down?
Don't hide away, like an ocean
That you can't see but you can smell
And the sound of waves crash down
I am no superman.
I have no reasons for you
I am no hero, Aww that's for sure
But I do know one thing:
Is where you are is where I belong.
I do know, where you go, is where I wanna be.
Where are you going? Where do you go?
Are you lookin' for answers to questions under the stars?
Well if along the way you are growin weary, you can rest with me
Until a brighter day, you're ok.
I am no superman.
I have no answers for you.
I am no hero, aww that's for sure.
But I do know one thing:
Where you are is where I belong.
I do know, where you go, is where I wanna be
Where are you going? Where do you go?
Where do you go? Where are you goin? Where do you go?
I am no superman.
I have no answers for you
I am no hero, Aww that's for sure
But I do know one thing:
Is where you are is where I belong.
I do know, where you go, is where I wanna be.
Where are you goin'? Where do you go?
Tell me where are you going?
Where? Let's go.
The program collects films that are asking the same questions: What was here before? And how can you show it if it’s not there anymore? When and how did absence turn into presence? Does it always do that?
It also connects places in East and West, New York, Berlin and Warsaw. Shanghai and Venice. Not only through images, but also through the people who made the films (and are in them): For them, 1984 had been fiction and 1989 a reality. They are from a generation that has been producing images and sounds before and after the Berlin Wall, in East and West, until today.
Program runtime is 62 minutes.

Accompanied by a score using music of Pere Ubu and Einstürzende Neubauten, a-b-city revolves around West-Berlin’s psychodelic atmosphere. Brigitte Bühler and Dieter Hormel, who were renown for their fast paced and skillfully edited Super-8 clips, mix TV images and time-lapse shots of nightly streets, drifting clouds, and a men continuously jumping in front of the Berlin Wall, bringing about an impression of the enclosed city that constantly shifts between ecstasis and depression. 5 lessons and 9 questions about Chinatown by Shelly Silver
USA, 2009, 10 minutes, digital projection
You live somewhere, walk down the same street 50, 100, 10,000 times, each time taking in fragments, but never fully registering THE PLACE. Years, decades go by and you continue, unseeing, possibly unseen. A building comes down, and before the next one is up you ask yourself ‘what used to be there?’ You are only vaguely aware of the district’s shifting patterns and the sense that, since the 19th century, wave after wave of inhabitants have moved through and transformed these alleyways, tenements, stoops and shops.
10 square blocks, past, present, future, time, light, movement, immigration, exclusion, gentrification, racism, history, China, America, 3 languages, 13 voices, 152 years, 17,820 frames, 9 minutes, 54 seconds, 9 questions, 5 lessons, Chinatown.

Former East/Former West by Shelly Silver
USA, 1994, excerpt 10-15 minutes digital projection
Made up of hundreds of street interviews done in Berlin two years after the Reunification, FORMER EAST/FORMER WEST is a vital, surprisingly open, and at times disturbing documentary. Silver questions the very notion of a shared language, focusing on changing definitions of words for political and economic systems – democracy, freedom, capitalism, socialism, nationality and history.
Magnetic [eye] Berlin by Gunter Krüger
Germany, 2007 / 08, excerpt 10 minutes, digital projection
Since 1997, Gunter Krüger has been archiving media fragments which he finds on the street – broken audiotapes, scraps of VHS and discarded compact discs. At the location he records additional filmic notes.
In the second part of the “Magnetic [eye]” series, “Magnetic [eye] Berlin”, a selection of media fragments forms a portrait of his living space. The film is designed as a generative structure, i.e. there is no final version.
In 2007 and 2008, three different playlists were made, each varying in both the selection of the media fragments as well as their compilation. By integrating new modules, new playlists with predefined running times can be created for each screening.

Proprio Aperto by Judith Hopf, Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Florian Zeyfang
Germany / USA, 2005, 6 minutes, digital projection
The single channel video and installation work PROPRIO APERTO, which was first presented in February 2005 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago in the exhibition, “Universal Experience: Art, Life and the Tourist’s Eye,” shows a walk taken through the giardini, the grounds of the Venice Biennale, in winter.
The conversations that took place there among Judith Hopf, Natascha Sadr-Hadhighian and Florian Zeyfang result in a text that circles around landscapes of ruin, ghosts and the Dasein in cultural hegemony. The images — actually photographs — are presented in slow pans, and the various levels of destruction of the pavilion come more and more into the center.
The tone of voice and language congenially conveys the suitably contemplative mood during the walk, which carries over to the spectator.

She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic journey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.
