I feel disharmony in my Soul that's why I can't create harmonical compositions and fill pictures bright colours, that's why I refuse fashion experiments with models - 'cause it's all for nothing now. Glasnevin Cemetery, officially known as Prospect Cemetery, is the largest nondenominational cemetery in Ireland. It first opened in 1832 and is located in Glasnevin, Dublin.
Prior to the establishment of Glasnevin Cemetery, Irish Catholics had no cemeteries of their own in which to bury their dead and as the repressive Penal Laws of the eighteenth century placed heavy restrictions on the public performance of Catholic services, it had become normal practice for Catholics to conduct a limited version of their own funeral services in Protestant cemeteries. This situation continued until an incident at a funeral held at St. Kevin's Cemetery in 1825 , provoked public outcry when a Protestant sexton reprimanded a Catholic priest for proceeding to perform a limited version of a funeral mass.
The outcry prompted Daniel O'Connell, champion of Catholic rights, to launch a campaign and prepare a legal opinion proving that there was actually no law passed forbidding praying for a dead Catholic in a graveyard. O'Connell pushed for the opening of a burial ground in which both Irish Catholics and Protestants could give their dead dignified burial.
The cemetery is located in Glasnevin, Dublin, in two parts. The main part, with its trademark high walls and watchtowers, is located on one side of the road from Finglas to the city centre, while the other part, "St. Paul's," is located across the road and beyond a green space, between two railway lines.
Glasnevin Cemetery contains many historically interesting monuments as well as the graves of many of Ireland's most prominent national figures — Charles Stewart Parnell and Daniel O'Connell as well as Michael Collins, Éamon de Valera, Arthur Griffith, Maude Gonne, Kevin Barry, Sir Roger Casement, Constance Markiewicz, Brendan Behan, Seán MacBride, Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa, Christy Brown, Frank Duff, Luke Kelly of the Dubliners. Boyzone singer Stephen Gately was cremated at Glasnevin Crematorium, which is located within the cemetary grounds, on October 17th, 2009.
The cemetery also offers a view of the changing style of death monuments in Ireland over the last 200 years: from the austere, simple, high stone erections of the period up until the 1860s, to the elaborate Celtic crosses of the nationalistic revival from the 1860s to 1960s, to the plain Italian marble of the late twentieth century. Glasnevin Cemetery has grown from its original nine to over 120 acres.
The high wall with watch-towers surrounding the main part of the cemetery was built to deter bodysnatchers, who were active in Dublin in the 18th and early 19th century. The watchmen also had a pack of blood-hounds who roamed the cemetery at night. Prime Minister, Robert Peel, when questioned in Parliament on the activities of the body-snatchers, admitted that it was, indeed, a "grave matter".
Glasnevin is one of the few cemeteries that allowed stillborn babies to be buried in consecrated ground and contains an area called the Angels Plot.

U.P. Breaking News: K. I. Sawyer Latest KC-135 Emergency Landing/Raising Safety Concerns
The following exclusive information was not reported yet by Upper Peninsula TV stations and other media.
Many safety questions remain and a military plane is officially grounded after an emergency in the skies over Marquette County, Michigan on Tues. July 8, 2014
The emergency landing of a KC-135 refueling tanker is the latest in a series of similar hydraulic incidents involving the aging fleet of Milwaukee's 128th Air Refueling Wing, Upper Peninsula Breaking News has learned.
Veteran Investigative Reporter Greg Peterson has the story:
upperpeninsulabreakingnews.wordpress.com/2014/07/09/u-p-b...
-----
Essentially a flying gas station – this Air National Guard KC-135 is grounded – following an emergency that has happened at least 5 times in the past two years to KC 135 refueling tankers from the 128th Air Refueling Wing in Milwaukee.
That's right – at least 5 times in the past two years – a KC-135 from the 128th has developed hydraulic problems resulting in emergency landings at airports around the Midwest.
The tankers are all about 50 years old.
In fact in June 2013, a reporter for Milwaukee Television station WISN TV-12 investigated a rash of KC-135 emergency landings after hydraulic warning.
Upper Peninsula Breaking News called the 128th's public affairs office to verify this important safety problem.
With overcast skies, the three-member crew of this KC-135 declared a hydraulic emergency:
Chief Don Hutchens, Forsyth Township Volunteer Fire Department:
Emergency officials from across Marquette County responded to the plane's call for help – fearing it might crash while landing – which would have been catastrophic.
The KC -135 was among several planes from the 128th Refueling Wing that have been practicing touch and goes on K.I. Sawyer's long runways.
Now the Marquette County Airport, the once vibrant K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base was a Strategic Air Command base – constantly on alert - with bomber crews ready to fly in moments.
This reporter has had the pleasure of riding on two KC-135 Refueling Tankers – as show in this photo when I worked at WLUC TV-6 in Marquette.
We refueled F-16 Jets over Lake Huron.
Then this reporter became one of only a handful of civilians to ride aboard a B-52 Bomber – this while I did features stories for the Mining Journal newspaper.
I was given this official coin of the Sawyer bomber wing and a patch – after as 12-hour flight that included Fourth of July Parades and an airshow in Grand Rapids.
This reporter hopes the officials at Milwaukee's 128th Air Refueling Wing get to the bottom of this hydraulic issues before there is a tragedy – as the large number of emergencies on this flying gas station is scary to all involved.

Military plane makes emergency landing in Indiana
www.wisn.com/news/south-east-wisconsin/milwaukee/Military...
A plane from Milwaukee's 128th Air Refueling Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard is grounded and undergoing repairs after an in-flight emergency Tuesday.
For the fourth time in two months a KC-135 from Milwaukee makes an emergency landing, this time in Indiana.
The flight crew lost control of the hydraulic system and made an emergency landing in Indiana.
It's the fourth in-flight emergency in recent weeks involving four KC-135 refueling tankers.
Each of the planes is about 50 years old, which has some wondering if the aging aircraft are as safe as they should be.

The exhibition features the artworks from an interdisciplinary and culturally diverse group of architects/artists/designers investigating current and historical dilemmas facing new immigrants and political/religious refugees as well as their influences on local and global culture in everyday life and their complex relationship to artistic and cultural production. Each body of work represents a unique perception according to one’s individual expertise, experience, vision and culture identity.
a question of identity
dear diary:
i know i've ranted to you about this before but please bare with me for a bit...
i just received an e-mail from an ex-pat who is presently living in the asian country of his ethnic origin. i am praying the east vs west turmoil doesn't take it's toll on him...
anyways, diary, the correspondence got me thinking about small-boy again. when the wifey and i sent him away to seattle, i hoped that he wouldn't fall into the same trap that many hawaii born young men do when they go away to college. the trap of finding a group of other hawaii born people to spend all of their free time hanging with. man...if he did that, he would be cheating himself out of the opportunity of a lifetime... the opportunity to discover himself and grow.
well, diary, last week i actually got a call from mr. high-maintenance. after the usual how's school and stuff, i asked him if he was making any new friends. to my surprise, he explained that a lot of his mainland team mates have begun hanging out at their place. it appears that small-boy's cooking skills are earning him a bunch of new friends. some of his new friends have been picking him up and taking him home for weekend dinners. he's even received a thanksgiving invite from one of the mothers.
diary, i couldn't be more happy with how it's working out so far. yeah, he might flunk a bunch of his classes this year. school has always been a tremendous struggle for him. but i know he always tries...
it's the "life lessons" that i'm praying he learns...and he can only learn them on his own...
now if i could only convince him to go to japan with me one day. his older brother learned so much about himself when we took him there a few years ago. i don't know why small-boy is so afraid of the place...
man, diary...letting go is hard...

In my opinion, The worst years were
1. 2008 because I got diabeities
2. 2009 because we lost our legend MJ and Justin IDIOTIC Bieber took over the world
3. 2013 because I had braces and a bad school year
4. 2014 because my appendix bursted out
5. 2016 because of losing interest to logos, celebrity deaths, and mass shootings week by week
and
7. 2017 because of Trump being pesident ad Paramount making box office flops contsnatly.
This year (2018) seems to be a little better.
What do you think?

An exciting new film series designed to engage young people in the exploration of their faith has been launched by Scripture Union. NUA Film Series encourages questions, acknowledges doubt and offers a new perspective on Christian faith. It provides young people, and viewers of all ages, with the opportunity to discuss their worldview and wrestle with the things that don’t seem to make sense.
NUA was commissioned by Scripture Union Ireland and was launched in Gonzaga College, Ranelagh. Produced and presented by Jonny Somerville, directed by Greg Fromholz and filmed by Tiny Ark, the result is an outstanding resource with stunning visuals and really engaging content.
Over the series of eight short films, NUA addresses many of the big questions including ‘Jesus: Fact or Fiction?’, ‘How Can You Say That God is Good?’ and ‘Has the Church Caused More Harm Than Good?’ The first episode, ‘How Did We Get Here?’ was shown at the launch and while NUA doesn’t presume to give the answers, it provides a broad base for discussion and gives voice to the many questions people have when considering events like Creation and the Big Bang.
Each film lasts about 15 minutes and is intended to be watched over time in an educational setting, youth group, college campus or with friends. NUA was written, reviewed and edited by more than 30 trusted critics including a small inter–church theological group, chaplains and RE teachers, clergy, youth workers, parents and actual young people.
Introducing NUA, Jonny Somerville said it was not one man’s theology. He, Greg Fromholz (who apart from directing films is also Dublin & Glendalough’s Young Adults Officer) and Scott Evans (Church of Ireland Chaplain at UCD) wrote the original scripts. These were then sent to the ecumenical panel where they were “ripped to shreds and put back together again”. “I believe NUA is acceptable to all denominations,” he said.
A panel of reviewers gave their opinions on the applications of NUA on the night. Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin, Bishop Eamonn Walsh, suggested that in a parish context it could be used for confirmation groups and youth groups as well as Advent and Lent discussion groups. “NUA says it’s ok to be a Christian and be full of thoughts. This gets across that God’s spirit is in everyone,” he commented.
Anna Maloney, Post Primary Advisor with the Dublin Archdiocese, said she was delighted that they could now offer a resource to schools. As a teacher herself, she said: “It was clear how you would go about teaching it in a classroom setting. We’re looking for something that isn’t naff and will engage young people… This is so new and fresh. Students will buy into it,” she said.
Ken Rue of Dublin & Glendalough’s Council for Mission and Associate Vicar of Wicklow and Killiskey Parishes, said that from a Church of Ireland context NUA would be great for youth clubs but said adults would be equally engaged. He praised the quality and said he particularly liked the built in pauses for discussion.
Peter Rigney of Alpha Ireland said there were lots of similarities between Alpha Youth and NUA and the film series would be a great way to follow up on an Alpha course. He said Jonny had worked with Alpha Youth in schools and began to understand the needs of young people in an Irish context.
Greg Fromholz paid tribute to the almost 200 people who collaborated in making the series. “NUA is not just one person talking. It is constantly changing and engaging. It takes us on a journey. We went to different locations to shoot NUA – Israel and Palestine to walk in the steps of Jesus, New York because it is a special place and we showed off our own country. But it is a journey,” he commented.
General Director of Scripture Union, Jim Donnan, thanked everyone who had contributed financially to the making of NUA and all who were involved in making the series a reality. “NUA allows young people to be open, to express their questions about faith. We want to direct them towards the one who gives the answers to all their questions. It is an excellent resource which is tailor made for RE teachers, chaplains, leaders and for anyone who wants to engage young people in faith. Take this resource and use it with young people. Give young people the chance to encounter Jesus,” he said.
The NUA resources comprise a USB – with eight episodes, nine training videos, the series trailer, eight Irish street interviews and a media pack; the NUA Guide which includes lesson plans, summaries and suggestions for engagement activities; and the NUA Journal for viewers to write notes and record their faith journey. They can all be ordered on the NUA website: www.nuafilmseries.ie

The National Palace of Mafra, the Franciscan convent and its church is a truly magnificent monument to visit. Being one of the most important Baroque buildings in Portugal it was financed with the gold from Brazil (a Portuguese colony at the time) and it's a symbol of the absolutist reign of D. João V. Its construction started 1711 and ended up with a palace with over 1200 rooms, from which the library is the most magnificent example. Housing about 40.000 books from the 18th century is the biggest and richest in the world from its age. From law to science books many relics can be seen there.
Still, due to the Napoleon invasions this library was not finished as it has no paintings to decorate it. The monks had to run away from the invaders and never completed the work. This Napoleonic invasion also made the Portuguese Royal Family seek refuge in Brazil taking with them the best and most important pieces from the palace. These can only be seen in Brazil nowadays, as the family in its return left them there. But there are still many, many great historical pieces to be seen.
The Basilica included in the building is completely stunning, and it houses the largest and finest collection of Italian statues from the 18th century existing in Portugal. It also has a group of six organs, with themes specifically made to be played on them and thus is impossible to be reproduced anywhere else in the world, and the famous 96 bells which play musical themes once a week. These last two features are unique in the world by their dimension, complexity and richness.

This is a photograph from the SSE AIRTRICITY Dublin Marathon which was held in Dublin, Ireland on Bank Holiday Monday 26th October 2015 at 09:00.The Dublin Marathon has been held annually since 1980. The marathon course starts at Fitzwilliam Square in the city center and finishes at Merrion Square. For the past number of years there have been some changes to the configuration of the route at the start and finish due to traffic and transportation infrastructure work around the city center. However the majority of the race proceeds in an anti-clockwise direction around the city passing through the Phoenix Park, Chapelizod, Inchicore, South Circular Road, Walkinstown, Terenure, Clonskeagh, UCD, Stillorgan Dual Carriage Way, Ballsbridge and finishing up Northumberland Road and Mount Street. As always the organisation is first class and this seen just under 13,000 people complete the marathon course.
The weather conditions were not very good for marathon running with runners facing race and windy conditions around much of the course.
Overall the poor weather conditions did not make for very good photographic conditions particularly around the start and finish area where it was a little darker around the tall buildings and streets.
The full set of photographs from the start and the finish are available at our Flickr set for Dublin Marathon 2015 https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/albums/72157658064057124

Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
