À travers près de 350 œuvres dont de nombreux chefs-d’œuvre des artistes qui lui furent proches (Joan Miró, André Masson, Alberto Giacometti, Pablo Picasso, Wifredo Lam, Francis Bacon…), des objets et oeuvres d'art africains et antillais, ainsi qu’un riche corpus d’archives et documents originaux (manuscrits, livres, films et musique), il s’agit non seulement de rendre compte des multiples facettes de la figure de Leiris, de ses passions et de ses engagements, mais également de souligner le caractère novateur de son œuvre et la pertinence de sa pensée : Michel Leiris est devenu, dans le contexte de la mondialisation et des études postcoloniales, une référence contemporaine essentielle.
Influencé dès l’enfance par Raymond Roussel et se situant en marge du surréalisme, Leiris s’éloigne du mouvement pour rejoindre la revue dissidente Documents autour de Georges Bataille. La quête de sa propre identité s’associe à une soif de dépaysements et d’altérité. Il s’initie aux méthodes de la recherche ethnographique en participant, en tant qu’archiviste, à la première mission ethnographique française en Afrique, conduite par Marcel Griaule : la « mission Dakar-Djibouti » (1931-1933), au cours de laquelle il écrit L’Afrique fantôme, hybride de journal de terrain et de récit autobiographique. Après la guerre, il se rend aux Antilles en compagnie d’Alfred Métraux, qui lui fait découvrir les rites vaudou. Aficionado de corrida, il est tout autant passionné de jazz, d’opéra et de spectacle, qui sont pour lui des « terrains de vérité ». Devenu ethnographe professionnel, africaniste au Musée de l’Homme, il est à l’initiative du premier ouvrage sur la Création plastique de l’Afrique noire.
Son œuvre littéraire compte parmi les plus novateurs du siècle dernier : auteur de L’Âge d’homme et des quatre volumes de La Règle du Jeu, Michel Leiris a révolutionné le genre de l’autobiographie.
Poète explorateur passionné des jeux de langage, il revendique aussi pour la littérature une esthétique du risque (« De la littérature considérée comme une tauromachie »). Engagé dès les premières heures dans la lutte anticoloniale et antiraciste, devenu homme public et militant, il reste avant tout écrivain solitaire. Michel Leiris est inclassable : figure libre éminemment complexe et paradoxale, sa modernité s’impose aujourd’hui encore plus qu’hier.

PICASSO : UN « GÉNIE SANS PIÉDESTAL »
Michel Leiris a consacré, de 1930 à 1989, une vingtaine de textes à Picasso, ce « génie sans piédestal ». Ces derniers constituent le témoignage d’une amitié renforcée par le lien avec la galerie Louise Leiris, d’une complicité tauromachique et d’une adhésion aux caractéristiques essentielles de l’œuvre du peintre : l’humour, le tragicomique, l’attachement à l’humain et au réalisme, le caractère autobiographique de l'art, qui se manifeste dans le thème majeur du « peintre et son modèle » devenu quasiment « un genre en soi ». Dans le texte de 1954, « Picasso et la comédie humaine ou les avatars de Gros pied », Leiris évoque les relations ambiguës entre fiction et réalité, entre l’art et la vie, ainsi que la question du vieillissement et de la mort qui n’épargnent pas l’artiste, aussi génial soit-il. À force de peindre l’acte de peindre, Picasso prend la peinture comme modèle ; ces recréations des chefs-d’œuvre du passé plaisent particulièrement à Michel Leiris qui écrit sur Les Ménines d’après Vélasquez de Picasso.
Une série de portraits de l’écrivain, ainsi que des oeuvres venant de sa collection (La Pisseuse, 1965, La Petite fille à la corde, 1950) rendent compte de cette longue et fidèle complicité.

The High Lakes Trail is one of the nicest trails I know of for a trail run, The surface is ideal; it is mostly flat but also has some nice hills, and the scenery is incredible. 5000 feet elevation. Today we saw a coyote. One time I ran right into a huge bear on the trail - who looked at me puzzled, and then ran away like a baby bunny rabbit.

A medical machine for pulmonary ventilation plays a musical chord on a few organ pipes, a fragment of music (in reference to Johannes Brahms’ *German Requiem*) frozen to the constant rhythm of the automatic breath. The action of this artificial organ raises ethical questions about the will and responsibility involved in this mechanical requiem, a metaphor for a limit that people delegate to technology.

FACTS, Body shape is different: a honey bee's body is similar to that of a wasp, while the bumble bee has a round body. The bumble bee is also known for it's hairy or fuzzy appearance. Honey bees, although having a fine hairs appear much smoother. Bumble bees are also usually black and yellow in colour, honey bees more shades of brown. BUT AT THE END OF THE DAYthis is not a bee atall its a blow fly ...so you learn something every day

I was in Modena with some friends for the Italian Integra meeting. This ITR DC5 was very cool. Here in Italy we have 2 ITR DC5 and this one was the firt one on italian streets. It was imported from japan - england some years ago and the owner did some interesting mods during his ownership. I can confirm that the car is really cool!
Here the owner Vale (the guy with the cap) was nswered to the questions of all the guys of the meeting!

The Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace was opened in 1989 as a “comprehensive extracurricular educational center for schoolchildren.” It consists of an eight-story central building and various annex buildings totaling over 1,108,000 sq. ft. / 103,000 sq. m. The annexes house a science block, an art block, a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool and a 2,000 seat theater. There are 700 rooms for various purposes including music and dance practice rooms, mathematics, chemistry, astronomy, computer science, automotive, machine tool, sports, etc.
Over 12,000 pupils visit the palace each day, cared for by over 500 teachers and several hundred more lecturers and assistants. The shape of the building is that of encircling arms, with a statue of a “Flower Carriage of Happiness” in the center.It is located in Pyongyang.
Last night, my wife and I went to see "the U.S. vs. John Lennon" at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. Unexpectedly, we arrived to find that John Sinclair had agreed to speak after the film and answer questions. Being unprepared, I took a photo, but it is not very good. "John Sinclair (born October 2, 1941 in Flint, Michigan), was a Detroit poet, one-time manager of the band MC5, and leader of the White Panther Party from November 1968 to July 1969. He was jailed in 1969 after selling two joints of marijuana to undercover narcotics officers. His case received international attention when John Lennon performed at a benefit concert on his behalf in 1971" (in Ann Arbor, MI).
He unintentionally became a pivotal figure in the anti-war movement and cemented John Lennon's status as a subversive and threat to american security.

110,000 Throughout Ireland Protested Against 64 Billion Euro Bank Debt - Were You There?
Have you ever noticed how often the number 64 appears in headlines and on posters. We in Ireland have a 64 Billion Euro debt, or so we are told. It is interesting to note that "The $64,000 Question" was an American game show broadcast from 1955–1958, which became embroiled in the scandals involving TV quiz shows of the day.
The organisers of today's protest march claimed that over 110,000 people took part in the demonstrations.but according to local media and police estimates the total country wide turnout was about 50,000.
The largest event took place in Dublin and according to local police about 25,000 took part while the organisers claim that at least 60,000 took part (maybe 64,000 took part). Today an experienced journalist explained to me that the police count the number of legs and divide by two and the protest organisers count the number of legs and divide by one (BTW that's a joke).
To be honest I do not know if anyone is even trying to be accurate but the following statement was issued by the ITCU:

More than 110,000 people took part in demonstrations across the country today, in protest at the country’s continued bank debt burden.
The protests were organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and took place in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Sligo.
Over 60,000 took part in the Dublin protest, while at least 15,000 turned out in Cork, 13,000 in Waterford, 10,000 in Limerick, 7,000 in Sligo and 5,000 I Galway.
Congress General Secretary David Begg told protestors at a rally in Dublin’s Merrion Square that bank debt problem had not been solved by the recent deal.
He vowed Congress would continue its bank debt campaign until the link between private bank debt and national debt was clearly broken.

Known to be inhabited at least since the 6th century BC by Phoneticians, Greeks and Carthaginians, the area of the S. Jorge castle is referred clearly in historical terms since the conquest by the Romans, being believed that by the time some kind of defensive structure already existed.
With the fall of the Roman Empire under the hands of the “barbarians”, and in the 6th century of these to the Arab conquerors, this castle was always a stage of battles, especially during the Christian re-conquest of the territory, being frequently taken by Christians and later on by the Arabs.
Still, in 1147 by the hand of D. Afonso Henriques (the first Portuguese king) and with the help of crusaders that were going to the holy-land, the castle was definitively conquered after a siege of 3 months. The story tells that the knight Martim Moniz, taking notice that one of the doors of the castle has been opened rushed into it placing his body among them and sacrificing himself. He prevented it to be closed though and allowed for the conquest of the fortress.
After this event, the castle resisted successfully to several Arab conquest attempts from 1179 to 1183.
Becoming Lisbon, in 1255, the capital of the reign, the castle was converted into royal palace which lead for it to be attacked several times by the Spanish in the attempts to conquer Portugal during the 13th and 14th century.
But with the damage made along centuries by earthquakes, especially in 1755, and the change of the royal palace to the Tagus River shores the S. Jorge castle entered in long decline being used as prison and military head-quarters. It was recovered during the 1940’s and 1990’s and it’s one of the most important places to visit in Lisbon, as it has some of the most magnificent views over the river and especially the medieval quarters of the town.
In my opinion, The worst years were
1. 2008 because I got diabeities
2. 2009 because we lost our legend MJ and Justin IDIOTIC Bieber took over the world
3. 2013 because I had braces and a bad school year
4. 2014 because my appendix bursted out
5. 2016 because of losing interest to logos, celebrity deaths, and mass shootings week by week
and
7. 2017 because of Trump being pesident ad Paramount making box office flops contsnatly.
This year (2018) seems to be a little better.

What d'ya say we celebrate with a road trip to Bolivar for some truly fresh Gulf shrimp and some fresh air? It should be really fresh and clean right now, scrubbed by over 12" of rain in the last day or so. We're supposed to get another dose in the wee hours of the morning too, so bring a good warm jacket.
Question: What the heck is PONG supposed to be?
When you're playing it, it feels like the video game representation of some real-life sport. You're bouncing a ball back and forth with another player, which at first glance sounds a lot like like table tennis, AKA ping pong-- and that would seem to explain the name. And yet, PONG is two-dimensional and free of gravity. The ball goes in a straight line, at a fairly constant rate of travel. And you don't play ping pong by rotating a wheel. Come to think of it, it's not a darned thing like ping pong. So what the heck is it?

As Rupert Murdoch and his son James were inside Parliament giving 'evidence' in front of a Parliamentary sub-Committee to answer may serious questions about their knowledge and complicity in the notorious phone-hacking scandal which is rapidly unravelling the Murdoch Empire, a group of campaigners from online protest organisation www.avaaz.org mounted a small protest outside.
