Sunday morning in Yukon, W.V., where the fire-damaged shell of an abandoned furniture store rots on a dead-end street. Google Street View show an improbably lush and green scene a few months after I shot this.
Candid shot from a recent trip to the Riparian Preserve in Gilbert, Arizona, USA. Whatever the situation is here it looks like quality time together. This is Joe and Aaron, I met them on a walk the other day.
Precious drops of Eau de vie.
Thousands of liters of this precious product in one place.
Guess what color it is on the roof of the storagebuilding
A trio of former Conrail motors now in the employ of Norfolk Southern was rolling south on former Wisconsin Central's Waukesha Subdivision over a decade ago.
The worn Conrail blue colors and faded lettering on the lead C40-8W hardly presents an impression of Quality. The trailing motors also show the severe lack of Quality at Prairie Crossing.
Was a retro-styled dry-cleaner, with wings. Now, permanently pressed.

my very first canvas from this company... love their customer service...
this is 16x22 and since it was free I could not but put picture of my Bruno on it... I will have his face with me forever now:) he is very special to me!
My first still live experiment with minimum resources. Colors are OK I think, but next time I make sure I'll use a bottle with a classier label... Tasted pretty good though!
The glass’s shadow was just added to make it all a bit more interesting.
Taken at Rockefeller Garden this fall. For Wynne because I so admire her pearl tones!
NOTE: Sorry, I accidentally wiped out some comments when I did a delete instead of a replace! Best seen large! Does not look so good small! Drat!

I don't usually do high-key as it requires a bit more equipment and therefore more time for setup and tear down.
In this case, there's a second flash in a small soft box positioned on the floor near Toby's rump, pointing up toward the backdrop.
And when I say "near" I mean within inches... I think I had to upright it three times this shoot just for Toby.
(Henry is surprisingly careful)
The backdrop is a real (purchased) backdrop and is large enough to require the backdrop stand - so that's two tripods and the pole.
In this case, the pole is three segments worth, which is too long for the footprint of my Studio (aka kitchen) and requires a bit of jerry rigging - think PVC T's stuck on the top of the tripods, held in place with rubber bands, so that pole can slide through and thus extend over the counters on either side.
Finally, high-key requires post-processing. I'm sure there are people that can do it SOTC. I'm not one of them.
So in addition to eliminating a few wrinkles from the backdrop, I'm busy evening out the lighting as best I can - mostly by making the corners paler to eliminate shadows.
And then, to add insult to injury, the camera changed its focus slightly from Henry to Toby.
I don't tend to check the focus between dogs because Toby can be a bit dancy and so long as I put him where Henry was I should be golden.
Only I'm not if the camera's mind wanders.
Soooo... a slider here a slider there (mostly increasing clarity, then tweaking Blacks and Saturation to resettle the colors) and we're done!
I liked the effect so much I repeated it on Henry's shot, even though his was actually focused.
Aside: this is the crate that's been hiding under various bits of fabric lately.
It's sturdy enough but lightweight, can be positioned vertically (as here) or horizontally, stacked with its mate to become a "bookcase", and is makes a handy container in my closet when not being used as a prop.

The Waterloo to Sioux City local begins their trip west out of Waterloo. This job normally goes to work around the lunchtime for the Waterloo to Fort Dodge segment. The crew is dragging extra power to Fort Dodge probably for unit trains to release over the weekend? High winds today were kicking up alot of dust as the job is about to West Waterloo. I brought 337 out of Chicago yesterday with the Warbonnet leading, but Waterloo roundhouse forces didn't see it as a quality leader for 571 today.
