Today's One-A-Day image was fairly straight forward, and even cliche if you're a resident or student. This bridge here in town has been shot so many times by so many different people, at first I thought why even bother? Well, certainly none of them had tried it in 8x10, and definitely not during the mid-day sun.

While they certainly are nice to look at, not every trip to the Hocking Hills region needs to result in wide, sweeping landscapes. Every now and then, the details have their way of finding my attention. This little ice flow forming in the middle of last month on the Cedar Falls trail, was just that!

Nicely curved concrete structure. Don't know what it is for - but the Pyrocat HD really brought put the concrete look to it.

Not a good shot of the actual gates which are supposed to be based on a design by Sir Christopher Wren.

Le résultat est excellent (prise de vue à la main, sans pied) je suis étonné de la finesse du rendu.

When traveling from the parking lot at Cedar Falls to start along the Buckeye Trail, there is a small little bridge, and a winding bank. Perhaps it's the repeated trips I've made this year, or now it's a habit, but I've shot this exact scene ever time I've visited Cedar Falls!
In today's image, the even, early morning light was gone, and sun had already started to peak out over the Cedar Falls and Buckeye Trail valley, making for a contrasty, but nice representation of this portion of the trail. See, it's not all about waterfalls in Hocking Hills, there's lots to shoot!

Two matching late Westphalia's. The owner was trying to match the tent/awning to the correct one. One was in very nice shape, the other had some typical VW bus rust around the front wheel well. Neat to see a couple of classic orange Westphalias - with the tent attached.
A row of shops on West 4th Avenue are slated for demolition and to reincarnated as a modern, taller building. Not too much of a loss as they were not particularly attractive.

There are a lot of these food trucks around. Just about every taste you can imagine. Too bad that I don't like eating on the street - though "Mom's Grilled Cheese sandwiches" is an exception.

One way of keeping track of which of the two lenses used! The XX in Pyrocat HD at 1:1:75 kicks up the contrast a bit. The lens is a bit too "black" here. On the other hand - exposure was a "sunny f16" as any exposure meter was outside of my reach at that moment.
Nicely stacked cherries and black berries. This is at f1.7 with the first version of the Ultron 35mm f1.7 - the screw mount one. Quite a good lens - compares favourably to the non Asph Summilux 35f1.4. Odd ergonomics and some distortion but not bad at all. The new M-Mount Ultron 35f1.7 is better though.
the original Summicron 35mm f2 from 1958 was a bit of a sensation when it came out A fast, competent 35, matched with the Summicron 50 and the Summicron 90mm. A bit of a dream package for press photographers, usually matched with a m2 and a M3 (M2 for the 35, 50/90 with the M3).
By todays standards, the lenses are OK, but current crop of Apo/Asph lenses are higher contrast and higher resolution. However, they still are highly usable, particularly for black/white - a nice smooth tonality and close to each other in rendering.
